Sierra Blaser Passion Speech The assignment I have chosen to write on is my “Passion Speech.” I was expected to write a speech on a subject I am passionate about, and then present it in front of the class. One way that this assignment is related to other assignments I’ve been given, is through my TRF’s, or Tutorials. In my AVID tutorials, I have to write about an assignment I am confused about, and then present in front of my group. This project was worth 100 classwork points. In order to earn an “A” I had to write a 1-2 page speech, write enough facts and opinions to balance each other out, practice reading at home, and use a loud enough voice so everyone in the class could hear me. The first thing I had to do, was to find a subject
In Avid we had to do a passion speech. The Avid teacher told us to first write something that is our passion, then we had to present it to the whole class. The expectation for this assignment was to have a great speech. This assignment relates to another assignment that we do in class every Tuesday and Thursday we have to get up in front of this group and present for about thirty second about our problem that we don't understand or we got wrong. The point of this assignment was to work on our public speaking fear so in the future, it will be way easier for us to speak in public. What the teacher expected in this assignment was to come ready, present, have good eye contact, a good voice, and good body language.
As a diverse student, in a very low income community I have always been known to standing up for others, as well as for myself. Having this natural drive i found myself taking a huge role in our high school Beta Club. As a natural leader, I was challenged with the opportunity to represent our high school’s Beta Club Chapter while running for North Carolina Beta Secretary. Although I felt experienced as a leader, I was really nervous to get up in front of all of North Carolina and give a speech at the Beta Club convention. Although I was nervous, I opened my mouth, and the words just began to come out. My fears went away, and I addressed everyone on topics of educational improvements and opportunities for all students to succeed. I used this
Happy New Year! I'm sorry for not touching base with you sooner. I've recently completed finals with Liberty University a week ago. Unfortunately, I never received your email regarding the sample lessons. However, if it's not a problem, is there a way you can resubmit it to me?
Everyone has something that drives them to succeed every day. Some people feel a need to compete with others around them while others feel they need to make their families proud. For me there are two major factors that encourages me to try my best. One is to show my parents that everything they have done for me has not been a waste and the other is my curiosity.
Good morning class of 2019. I am Tori Cichelero, and I am running for Freshman Class President. As a president, my job would be to stabilize each and every single one of us, because we are new to the community of Ursuline Academy. I will make sure we are all involved, so we all get to be connected into the school. In order to be involved, we all have to take risk and try new things. Trying new things can be scary, but it can be so much better when you have a leader to guide you. My guidance can make us freshman the best possible class by using our intelligence, hard-work, responsibility, and kindness. When I think of Ursuline Academy, I think of how great our class is. Each classmate in front of me right now means so much to me. Your grades,
UCAN is a program that weekly, visits local high schools providing them college mentorships. As part of college mentorship, we aid students, in college applications, financial aid, college essays and college preparation. The program is efficiently split into three parts, so mentees and mentors can take most from it. The three parts consist mainly of helping seniors in the college application process, teaching and mentoring sophomores and juniors about college preparation, preparing for next year. I first joined the UCAN program in Fall 2016, an aspect that really captivated my attention was that we could aid high schools, this really interested me because this was an opportunity that I did not count with in high school. I wanted provided the aid and support that could not receive when I was growing up.
Pursuing college has always been one of my biggest goals to achieve in life. After high school, I will higher my education by attending college. My ultimate goal will be to one day become a veterinarian. The love and compassion I have for animals plays a big role in choosing this course of study. Growing up on a ranch, I am exposed to animals such as horses, cows, dogs, chickens, and rabbits. Tending to the animals and keeping them in good health gives me the experience I need to see if the veterinarian study is fitting for myself. Furthermore, I plan to attend BYU-Idaho which offers a pre vet course that gives students who are seeking to become veterinarians the opportunity to intern at a vet
A. How many years have you been in school? How many of you ever thought that once I enter college that I will have a lot of freedom? Have you ever considered how much your life will change once you enter college?
After reading the first few pages of the textbook, it was difficult to select only one topic that caught my attention. In order to save myself from sounding redundant throughout the paper I’ll go ahead and select two topics that stood out from the rest, at least in my opinion.
Student debt is at an all-time high. Many college students and recent graduates may find themselves asking: "what's the point?" Why go to college if there is no guarantee of a great job, but you are almost certainly guaranteed to graduate with high levels of debt? But take a careful look at the statistics. While the unemployment rate for recent four year college graduates is 6.8%, the unemployment rate for recent high school graduates is nearly 24% (Webley 2012). Of course, there are many other reasons to go to college, such as personal fulfillment. But for those who are considering not going to college because of economic concerns, I advise you to think in the 'long term.'
“What a game, the boys, played well, Justin is a great hitter.” After winning the first game in their new renovate ballpark, excitement filled Coach Bill.
College students traditionally show pride towards their respective school. What makes students so enthusiastic for their school? In Laura Randall’s “Things You Only Do in College” and David Berreby’s “It Takes a Tribe” both writers explore college culture but come up with decidedly different results. Randall argues that college students’ traditions are embarrassing to the university, and students should be focusing on schoolwork not traditions; but Berreby suggests traditions are for the pride which students have for their school. In this essay I argue that students are passionate for their school, and the traditions they participate in are for the pride they have for the school. Randall
I am proud to be a bisexual African American female with a passion for technology. Yet my journey has not been easy. For my mother, my sexuality was difficult to understand. Due to my strict Jamaican background, she not only misunderstood, but she fought with me. Uncovering my bisexuality was read as a war cry. This led her to try everything in her power to stop or revert this from happening. At one point, not even girls were allowed to sleep over. Her behavior felt dehumanizing and these feelings still resonate with me. I have learned that my mother's acceptance is something I will never have, whole-heartedly, due to her unchanged beliefs.
Shawn and I were getting ready to go to the teen choice awards. Shawn was wearing a grey shirt withhold black jeans and black vans. I was wearing a black tight short dress that went to the middle of my thighs and black 3 inch heels." Y/N are you ready to go Andrew and my dad are almost here" Shawn asked." Ya almost ready just finishing up my makeup". " I told you you don't have to were makeup your beautiful without it" Shawn told me. " I promise it's a lot but of makeup". I know I told Shawn it was a little but it's not. I walked out of the hotel bathroom to find Shawn, Manny, John and Andrew on the couch talking about what the plans about for tonight since it's the award show then Shawn has to perform at the Greek theatre right after." Hi Y/N. how are you?" Andrew asks. "excited! What about you?". "Good, thanks for asking" Andrew responds. " Hi Manny, how are you ?". " good thanks you" Manny
I am a volleyball player who was denied eligibility to play varsity volleyball at Thomas County Central High School, because I switched schools sooner than a year ago. I understand that you along with the rest of the GHSA board care about students not taking advantage of switching schools just to be on an eye-catching sports team. As a player, I respect this and thank you for keeping star athletes from taking mine or my team mates’ spots on the team. It is also understandable that you along with other GHSA board members may not think about school systems like ours that continuously have people switching primarily because of the rigor of different school, such as me switching to TCCHS from Thomasville High School Scholars Academy, because I simply could not keep up with the pace and rigor that they teach with. After weighing out both points of view, transfers from any school should be allowed to participate in varsity sports without having to wait a year from the time of transferring to their new school.
