I believe there is no greater belief than your profession. Your profession defines your strength and aspirations. I aspire to put all my abilities and energy to become a competent Pathologist. I was born and raised in middle class agricultural family in Pakistan. I was fortunate to get best available education by virtue of hard work and vision of my parents. During my early years at school, I liked the subjects of biology and chemistry. I remember how my obsession with the fine detail of microscopic structures and memorizing whole periodic table in ninth grade made me feel content. I chose to pursue a career in medicine as the study of human body fascinated me. I got myself enrolled successfully at King Edward Medical University to achieve my goal. I found a great environment for learning at my medical school in presence of my hard working class fellows and worthy teachers. At my medical school, I loved Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, but the subject I enjoyed the most turned out to be my beloved Pathology. Study of human body and its diseases ranging from molecular to gross levels made Pathology most interesting and satisfying for me. It always provided me the answers of why, what and how. Exploring the tiny and microscopic detail of everything seemed like a world for me. The ability to see things in black and white with ever evolving research horizon made Pathology very attractive for me as a prospective career. Attention to detail by use of various modern and advanced techniques enabled me to quench my intellectual
I have chosen osteopathic medicine as my professional choice in becoming a physician, because I have a passion for the healthcare field and learning, I want to be able to help others and give back to the community and I believe that medicine is evolving towards an osteopathic approach which takes into account the body as a whole. Passion is the driver behind any good physician. I am always looking to learn and improve upon my performance in whatever I am doing. Whether it was undergraduate coursework, medical shadowing, EMT training, or community service I put forth my fullest effort into the task at hand. Every moment in medicine and life in general is a valuable learning experience. Osteopathic medicine will force me outside of my comfort zone and many mistakes will be made along the way, but I look forward to tackling the challenges ahead of me and in the end it will allow me to become the best physician possible.
I felt motivated about the knowledge of semiology and pathology of diseases the internists possess. In the same way I truly enjoy diagnosing challenging medical conditions.
Furthermore, being in an area of medicine I can always learn something new because there is always an on-going of unknown things that happen in the human body, also the science
“What are you even doing here? I have never seen such flawed technique in all my years as a choreographer.” The words echoed throughout the medical college auditorium. Impelled by the admonishment in front of my peers, I persevered in my endeavor to improve upon my dancing prowess and by the final year of medical school was leading the college dance team. The above mentioned undertaking further spawned an interest for the discipline of Latin Ballroom which lead to participation at the national level. The unwavering focus and persistence even in the face of unfavorable odds is more broadly reflective of my approach towards learning, both academic and extracurricular. This has been instrumental in achieving stellar academic outcomes including being ranked nationally in the top 0.0004 percent in the premedical test and the top 0.6 percent in the common aptitude test for management training.
I decided to pursue medicine while I was attending high school in Kolkata, India and fell in love with biology. I enjoyed engaging with people and developing meaningful relationships. I was looking for a path that would provide me with the skills to help others, both in my home country India and abroad. I felt that medicine can offer me an enriched career with the perfect balance of scientific challenge, intellectual stimulation and personal collection. Surrounded by the Himalayas in West Bengal, India, medical school further inspired my intellectual curiosity and cemented my professional identity.
Personal Statement My aspiration to become a speech pathologist is the culmination of a life-long interest in science and the human voice. As a sophomore in college I became serious about acting and musical theater and was recruited into the state reparatory acting program at Cal State Fullerton. At Cal State, I continued singing and playing lead parts in productions. I found a particular affinity for manipulating my voice for theatrical dialects, and developing optimal vocal support and projection on stage.
Growing up, people would always ask "what do you want to be when you grow up?" as a young child my answer was always “a princess”. Eventually, I realized this dream of mine was unrealistic and began to lean towards a profession in the medical field. The world of medicine enthralled me, even as a child. Flash-forward to senior year of high school where the most common question asked became “where are you thinking of going to college?” As time went on, I had a solid idea of what school I wanted to attend in the fall. When I was accepted to all of my top choices, the decision became a challenge. Strangely enough, Xavier University of Louisiana was the last school I applied to. In fact, it was nowhere on my radar until I did my research.
Did you know that 564,800 Americans will die this year due to cancer? Without pathologists, most cancers could go untreated or unfound. I believe that being passionate about pursuing pathology will help with a better outlook on education.
Upon the genesis of my medical passion; at the age of seven, I somehow thought it was possible to also be an astronaut, a firefighter, a lawyer, a teacher, a fashion designer, a singer, etc. I thought I wanted it all but my heart never changed. Throughout high school I kept an open mind as a way of making sure I could hold on to this lifelong commitment that is a career in medicine. While exploring my other interests and desires, I was reminded of the reason why I was pursuing medicine, the heart behind it all. It is my first love.
The desire to attend medical school should be one that is carefully planned out to ensure it is truly the right path; I believe this since medical school is something that requires many extra years of dedication and determination to complete. If one does not fully understand what they are embarking on might find out too late that becoming a physician was the wrong path for them. To ensure that applying to medical school was the right choice for me, I took the long road while developing a strong work ethic along the way.
Growing up I knew that I wanted to study science and explore the human body with the goal of helping people. With exploration of career options later in middle school, I realized that medicine was the path for me. My parents did not achieve Bachelor degrees and while I knew logically that they would support me, I did not have the confidence to pursue such a big dream. In high school, I became more and more involved and worked outrageously
I was introduced to pathology in my second year of medical school and at that time I acknowledged it as a fundamental part of the basic science required to understand medicine. It was only after spending time in various rotations that I decided to choose pathology as my profession based on the sum of all my experiences. I came to
From the time I came into senses and started grasping the real meaning of my dreams and probably due to my inclination towards science especially Biology, my ambitions started brewing in the domain of health and medical sciences. Compounding to this, some of the incidents in my life also aided me in choosing medicine as my career.
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending
Although medicine has always been close to me wanting to become a physician was not something I simply decided overnight. After tagging along with my mom to see her cardiologist a couple of times I slowly began to put together my love of science with a profession in which I could help people like my mother. This eventually led to me actively pursuing medicine as a career. Before I started shadowing Dr. Siddiqui I thought
