So many courageous people fought for some kind of freedom. For example, in 1775, colonists during the American Revolution fought for their independence from Great Britain, and in 1865, slaves had to fight for their freedom too. These freedoms could be something as simple as being able to go to a friend's house, or it could be as serious as same-sex marriage. No matter how big or small the issue is, freedom must be repeatedly won by each generation.

Freedom lets us walk wherever we want. Freedom lets us wear whatever we want. Freedom lets us sleep peacefully. Freedom lets us eat any food not one certain food. Freedom gives us the power to speak out our thoughts out loud.

Freedom is a human right. When deprived of human rights, life has less meaning. People risk everything to be free. Across history, an incredible number of people have been deprived of freedom. Most of those people have risked something to get it back, and sometimes that thing is their life.
