1. Prior to this class I viewed Paul as the iconic missionary. He acted with bold faith and truly relied on the Holy Spirit to work on his behalf. This faith is a rarity in the world or it is faith that I do not see among my peers at least. He acted with fearlessness, boldness, and acted with selflessness to elevate the Gospel. He cared more for the cause than himself and his comfort.
2. In the numerous printed documents discussing Paul and his life and ministry, most of these intellectual writings mainly deal with the theological and historical aspects. However, very few writings have been done on the spiritual characteristics of Paul. “Perhaps it is time to approach Paul as a disciple of Jesus, as a Spirit-filled man” (pp. 12). Throughout his teaching, he emphasized the importance of following the Spirit and being molded into its likeness. Over the later duration of his life, Paul boldly attempted at to become “Christ-like.”
3. Many Christians today can talk highly on different topics dealing with the Bible yet, when asked to give a definition of certain topics one can find themselves stumbling to put words to their thoughts. This is the case when it comes to spirituality. Biblically, the author defines spirituality as “a

One of the aspects that makes Paul such a prevalent missionary was the fact that he constantly resorted to prayer in all occasions. Above all, “he was a pray-er before he was a missioner or a thinker” (pp. 43). Although we do not have documented prayers from Paul like we do with David in the Psalms, one can turn to the Epistles and the book of Acts for textual support about his life. In this, one can find that he was truly devoted to prayer. Although he did not write his prayers down, it was still evident that in all his prayers there was a main theme: That there was a growth in faith. This is evident in his own prayers for himself as well as others. He also emphasized that everyone pray not just for themselves, but for others as
The Apostle Paul’s strategic mission of expanding the church and spreading the Gospel was significant considering the challenges he had to conquer. His life and example was and is applicable to modern cross-cultural leaders and organizations. Philippians 2 is a letter written by Paul to the church of Philippi. It was prepared during his imprisonment in Rome for spreading the Gospel of Christ in an area where people predominately and traditionally believed in Judaism. His writing in this passage highlights Christ as the ultimate example of humility and Paul’s encouragement to his followers to keep the unity, as they are the light of the world.
Paul is faithful to the mission of the church, he also appreciates his calling, who called him and had abundant faith. Paul was attentive about his assignment, while understanding the significance of a good impression with his introduction. Godly leaders should be confidant however humble in their callings and assignments. Joshua 1:2, Amos 3:7 and Jeremiah 7:25 entirely describe great men of God as “servants.” I sense that Paul is setting himself up in the succession of the prophets, which is something that we do not perceive today in ministry. Many acknowledge their calling but do not recognize the significance of their assignment from God. I believe that Paul’s viewpoint, as revealed in his introduction to the Romans, is a model for every Christian today. I too experienced something similar to Paul’s experience on the Damascus road, on an airplane, and I knew at that moment in time that God had called me for a great purpose. I have had several conversations with ministry leader that expressed to me that I have something distinct to do for God. Just like Paul, I am
The immediate task at hand is to provide a theological framework that encompasses the scope of the Apostle Paul and his
Paul of Tarsus or Saint Paul is considered by many Christians today to be the most important disciple of Jesus, and beside this the second important found in the development of Christianity. Saint Paul had a major impact on the spread of Christianity, contributing to the underlying unity of the religious tradition by helping expand Jesus’ original teachings into a developed integrated belief system.
Paul was devoted to spreading the gospel to many different people groups. An example from Paul's life that has taught me about spreading God's word is when he preached on his first missionary journey in Acts 13, even after many Jews slandered him and argued against everything he said. Paul’s demonstration of courage in this situation is very inspiring to me. It teaches me to be bold in my belief of the gospel, even when people disagree with me. Another
Distinguished pastor and scholar John Piper wrote that there are two types of missionaries in the world today —Timothy-like and Paul-like missionaries. Timothy left his home in Lystra and joined the apostle Paul during his second missionary journey. He crossed different Mediterranean cultures and eventually became the overseer of the church in Ephesus. He served as a resident missionary in that renowned city away from home. On the other hand, the apostle Paul was an itinerant evangelist or a “frontier missionary,” who went about preaching the gospel and establishing churches in different places. His aim, as he categorically stated, was to “preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named” (Rom. 15:20).
Paul’s story is very unique. He is the ultimate picture of what God can do in a person’s life. Paul changes everything just after an encounter with God. He was the type of person that when he had a mission he was in it to win it. Paul also had a lot of influence, he had these leadership qualities that God designed him with.
Paul is remembered as a missionary and church planter. He undertook three extensive missionary journeys, estimated to have taken place in A.D. 44, 49 and 53. He spent much
Paul wrote letters to churches and went on long, dangerous journeys in order to share the Word. Humbly serving the Lord, no matter what the cost, he became a disciple who made disciples. His personal, deep relationship with Timothy reveals the kind of atmosphere and level of commitment required in discipleship. The discipleship model Paul follows allows for a personally invested relationship between any amount of gathered people whether it be an entire church congregation, a small group, or
St Paul of Tarsus is a significant figure in Christianity due to his major contributions of writings and letters which form a significant amount of the New Testament. St Paul is considered to be the forefather of Christianity after Jesus. Paul had a major impact on these spread of Christianity through his mission journeys, contributing to the religious traditions and helping expand Jesus’ original teachings. The reason behind Paul being a significant person in Christianity is because he contributed to the development of Christianity.
The Apostle Paul (formerly Saul) is responsible for the spread of Christianity throughout the areas of Asia Minor and Greece. Through his 3 mission trips to the region Paul created a base of support for the Christian faith and implemented a support strategy for future growth. The time period for his journeys was 45 AD – 58 AD. The story of Paul is interesting from the perspective that the man best known as the author of most of the New Testament started out as a devout Jew and despised the Christian faith. After his conversion he made it his life’s work to spread the Christian message throughout the world. To this end, Paul made several mission trips to the area of Asia Minor and Greece.
Paul knew that not only he was being watched as the word spread but his actions and his representation of Christ and everything He stood for. Paul kept his eyes on his purpose, the ability to keep Jesus alive through his believe in knowing that what he was going through was nothing as to what he witnessed Jesus went through to save his soul. Paul kept writing to the church and it observed to me with even more conviction, passion and purpose. Paul when he once known as Saul was feared as far as one land to another but as Paul converted into a believer mad Saul seem like a puppy with just a pen and paper. The lives he saved through his ability to show Christ never left him even when man and religion seemed to have failed only lead more people
God makes us new people and transforms our thoughts, actions, and desires to become more Christ like inward and outwardly. After Paul received God’s grace and salvation, Paul's attitude totally changed, he was humbled because of his past, appreciation for God's grace to him as a sinner, and compassion for those who have never had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When we face God's grace, we want to serve Him on a daily basis. This daily service doesn't have to be in an approved church location or function. Instead, it can happen as we simply reach out to others throughout the day. We must be willing to step outside our comfort zones outside of the normal box we put on life, we must be willing to suffer persecution in our service to
The book of Acts describes how Paul was ministering in Antioch with Barnabas, when he was directed by the Holy Spirit to be released from his Church duties. The Holy Spirit had another assignment for Paul, and that was to go and take the Gospel more widely. Some believe that this notion came from the Holy Spirit through fasting and prayer. Paul began his first missionary in the town of Antioch. Throughout Paul’s first missionary journey he was accompanied by Barnabas and Barnabas cousin John Mark.
For some background information on Paul. His original name was Sual in Hebrews announced in the new testaments. He was yoked to a rabbi so he can become a rabbi him self. Paul converted to christianity when he saw the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the road of Damascus. During his life he created three big ministries to travel through the Roman Empire, and he did this because he was planting churches. His goal was to preach to the new Christians the word of God, and to give encouragement. Paul started his mission because the Lord asked of him to do so, and so the Lord provided him with wisdom and strength to for fill his journey.
