Peace Corps Volunteers are widely dispersed in the countries where they serve. However, Peace Corps medical supplies are often located at the post headquarters which can be over a days travel for many Volunteers. When Volunteers use the medical supplies that have been provided by Peace Corps they need a way to request replenishment of their supplies so the medical staff can send them out with the next quarterly replenishment schedule. Currently Peace Corps medical staff commented that Volunteer requests come in through various means (email, text, call, walk-ins, etc.). It requires a significant amount of their time to manage these requests that come in various forms and they dont have a centralized way to manage them. . THE IDEA 94% of Volunteers

What do you think when you hear the word Salvation Army? Red kettles, donating clothes, helping the homeless?. These are all part of the Salvation Army but there is so much more to it. WK6Assgn+J.N+Dimla By Joel Nchinney Dimla January 14 2018 Salvation Army The Salvation Army is a Protestant Christian movement and an international charitable organization structured in a quasi-military fashion. The organization reports a worldwide membership of over 1.5 million, consisting of soldiers, officers, and adherents known as Salvationists. Its founders Catherine and William Booth sought to bring salvation to the poor, destitute and hungry by meeting both their "physical and spiritual needs" (The Salvation Army, 2017).
The Salvation Army is a worldwide Voluntary Welfare Organisation, providing cares to the needy in the community. The Salvation Army consists of different territories and Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar (SMM) forms a territory. There are different centres under the SMM territory such as Child Care Centres, Nursing Home, Children Home, Youth Development Centre, Family and Prison Support Services, etc. which provides various programmes to reach out to the children, sick, elderly and those in need.
One important program of the Peace Corps is increasing its role in the global effort to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS by training all volunteers in Africa as educators of HIV/AIDS deterrence and education. All volunteers will be prepared to address the multiple health, social, and economic problems associated with the HIV/AIDS epidemic. There are many Peace Corps programs in Botswana and Swaziland which are devoted exclusively to combating the epidemic. Programs are currently expanding into the Caribbean where there is also a large epidemic of HIV/AIDS. In May 2003, the Peace Corps devoted one thousand new volunteers to work on HIV/AIDS-related activities as part of President Bush's Global AIDS Relief Package.
Imagine walking by your favorite department store, you hear the familiar sound of a bell ringing. With the sound becoming louder, you can now see the famous red bucket and someone there to greet you with an enormous smile and a holiday cheer. The people of the Salvation Army aren’t there just around the holidays; they are actively collecting all year round. One of the oldest and most recognized charities also has the highest efficiencies. They reach millions of people all over the world. A monumental organization is characterized by providing for those in need, motivation to identify and eliminate the cause of that need and to bring the community closer.
Volunteers are sent to developing countries and placed in remote villages and tiny towns. They live like locals—in terms of both income and housing. From cement houses to mud huts, volunteers learn to live without the “necessities” like running water and toilets. In places like Mali, access to fresh foods is extremely limited, which means meals are often the same morning, noon and night. And unlike a semester at sea or study abroad, Peace Corps offers no tour guide or set schedule, which means figuring out the pace of life and a balance with work is left up to the volunteer.
Pamela, to be a volunteer is not an easy task. It is very important to know the things that will be needed before embarking on a journey to the medical mission trip. It is just like a common trip to anywhere in the worlds where one have never being or travel to, one need all the necessary commodities to go with, along with up-to-date vaccination which is very essential and vital for safety. No matter what one pack for a journey, at times it will not be enough to use and that is when it is important for nurses and other health personnel to know how to manage materials and also have an ideal on how to improvise in order to perform medical procedure. In a situation when one encounter an accident and there is no medical materials or equipment
Although volunteers for Medecins Sans Frontiers are commonly stationed in various countries with a dire healthcare worker shortage, regions with refugee camps and internally displaced persons are also a focus for this organization. Refugees and internally displaced persons often come from war torn regions and live in close confines with poor sanitation and limited resources. These living situations become a breeding ground for diseases and other health issues like malnutrition, yet the individuals lack access to any sort of healthcare. The organization also responds quickly when regions suddenly experience an increased need for healthcare, for example in times of an epidemic or a natural disaster. Medecins Sans Frontiers’ involvement across its varying regions and their attempt to address a broad spectrum of healthcare truly show how altruistic the organization is to individuals regardless of race, gender, or religion.

The volunteer program that the RCOC has constructed requires all the people that are interesting to go through a vetting process that all employees, board members, and other persons that working closely with the organization must go through. The potential volunteer must go through a background check, submit a drug screening, have or be able to obtain a fingerprint clearance card, and have a shot record that verifies that they have taken a TB test. The outreach center wanted prospective volunteers take part of these procedures to ensure that the individuals representing the organization have no criminal record and have some sense stability. Before a potential volunteer goes completes the vetting process, they have to submit an online volunteer application, so we can discover their areas of interest, their experience level, and decide if they would be a good fit for the RCOC organization. If we have applicant seems to meet the appropriate criteria they will be selected for an interview. The interview process will include questions as to why they want to volunteer at RCOC, what they want to get out of the experience, and giving them some scenarios that can occur to establish their problem solving skills. After they have successful completed the interview up they will be placed in one of four volunteer departments. RCOC keeps in mind what the individual areas of interest were before making this choice and the volunteers are allowed to float in between departments. The
Through organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, improvements for these underdeveloped countries can be made. Although, change doesn 't happen drastically in one night but one step in the right direction has a greater impact on people rather than no step at all. These organizations bring relief to people who cannot help themselves. Some of these relief are disease prevention, maternal health, nutrition and violence abuse. Many of those who require these relief are children and women. To bring these relief doctors, nurses and volunteers travel from all over the world to help these people. Medical missions take place anywhere, patients are be examined and given medication to take care of themselves after the medical mission has finished. Some of these medical missions include general surgery. An example of this would be Smile Train,
On Wednesday November 15, 2017, I attended the “Peace Corps: Making a Difference in Communities Abroad, in the Lives of Volunteers and in the U.S.” talk for International Education Week. I had always been curious about the workings of the Peace Corps, and I thought that learning more about it would be beneficial and I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I learned about this incredible organization.
