The medical field has sparked an interest in my love for science, pretty much since I began my academic career. The constant advancements and the touching stories of individuals that have undergone life changing circumstances, have inspired me to pursue a career as a nurse and then continue my education to later become a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon. I have attended Byron Nelson High School for my entire high school career, and I have had the opportunity to be a part of the Academy of Biomedical Sciences. In the program we have studied many different aspects of medicine from infectious diseases, genetics, and bioinformatics. The hands on experiments and dissections that I have been able to participate in have continued to push me towards …show more content…
I have always aspired to become a surgeon, because of the everyday challenges that they get to come in contact with, and the opportunity to change and save lives. I have gone to Campamento, Olancho, Honduras for a week every summer for five years. While in Honduras, I got to work along side other missionaries for the Christian Relief Fund, building houses and helping in a local day care. I was exposed to many children that I have grown close to, while going back every year. My experience with children in another country and experience with children in the United States, by babysitting for friends and family, has continued to influence my decision to pursue a career in Pediatircs. Different circumstances that I have seen children involved in, with the situations and environments I have been exposed to, has made me realize that I could be able to leave a lasting impact on the children that I will treat. No matter how a child’s home life, they deserve to receive that best and attentive care, and I want to be able to give them that. I have always had a dream to help people on a greater scale. I most likely will not become a world renown surgeon or win a highly distinguished award in medicine, but I will be able to leave a lasting impact on the lives of many children that I will treat. By having the opportunity to save lives
When I was younger, I fell off my bed and cracked my head on the bed frame. I was sent to the emergency room and was given stitches. I had to keep going to the doctors for check-ups and me being a child, I was curious of the doctors and always asked them many questions about their occupation. At a young age I became very interested in the medical field. My mother being a surgical technologist and my ex-stepfather being a CRNA, I fell in love with the health care system and that’s when I knew I wanted to help others by becoming a nurse anesthetist.
My whole life I have wanted to fulfill my goal of becoming a doctor. I have worked hard to immerse myself in anything vastly medical related such as volunteering at my local hospital, joining a teen health careers club, and shadowing doctors and nurses. All of these things, I believe, have allowed me to broaden my knowledge on passion for medicine. In addition, I
As a child, the medical field has been a heightened interest of mine. Having taken classes to become and emergency medical responder, being taught CPR, watching and learning from media about emergency services, my want to excel in medicine has only increased. I feel one of the biggest purposes in my life is to understand and help others through the pain and suffering that they might be going through. I wish to develop the knowledge and the skillset to be able to help or even save those in need. In addition, I hope to help others see how successful you can be if you are passionately driven for what you do.
I knew that I wanted to be a physician after my first summer of volunteering in the NICU and emergency room. I realized that I want to help people, which is why I continued to volunteer throughout various organization. I want to provide help for ill patients as well as those in good
My interest in Biology formed the foundation for my enthusiasm towards Biomedical Sciences. Learning about genetics in the classroom piqued my interest and I was even more fascinated upon discovering developing practices such
What is better than saving lives and little children? How about saving children's lives! That is basically what a pediatric surgeon does on a daily basis. I chose to research this career because I have always been drawn to the medical field, I love working with children, and I also like helping people. Lucky for me, this occupation is all of those interests wrapped into one. Pediatric surgeons do everything from regular examinations of a child's growth and development, recommend treatment for an ill child, and also can perform major medical surgeries on children under the age of 18 (Pediatricians). Although multiple years of college and hard work are required, the end results of saving lives is worth it all.
"If you want to know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders," women in Cardiothoracic surgery. The women in surgery are the most inspiring people yet. There are too much understatement and discrimination about women. Although women have been known to be more loving, caring, and understanding, men dominate this world. These women stand up for what they believe in. Men dominated the surgeon's table however women are coming up. Women are taking over and I want to be apart of this movement. I want to be a Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon. A surgeon who specializes in children's hearts but knows both general surgery and adult cardio surgery. Being in the medical has both advantages and disadvantages, but overall the people still
Salutations! I’m Sahira a junior at Pomperaugh High school. Science and Math have always been my most favorite subjects. My love for science contributes to my goal of becoming a doctor in the long term. I challenged myself by taking all available honors and AP courses in science and math. All science courses introduced me to scientific process skills and laboratory techniques. From my freshman year of high school, I have been volunteering at Lutheron Home of Southbury on weekends. I shadowed a pediatrician and volunteered at the Waterbury Hospital Center in the summer of my sophomore year. I have been participating in after school STEM oriented clubs and YHSC monthly meetings in Waterbury hospital and attending AHEC Biomedical Engineering programs
From a young age, I always knew that I wanted to end up in a profession that helped and improved the wellbeing of the public. Even though I have played around with a plethora of career choices, going into the medical field is what I ultimately want. Everything about a career in a medical profession fascinates me because of its impact on the health of an individual and the overall wellbeing of a society. Since the profession is ever changing due to constant advancements in research and development of medicine and procedures, there will always be something new to learn and always keep me on my toes.
As a child growing up I wanted to be a surgeon. I was introduced by such profession by my uncle who is a cardio thoracic surgeon. Every time I would go visit him he would talk about the interesting surgical cases he would perform, and it really caught my attention. This particular occupation did happen to end up on my result pages and it also happens to be one of the main professions I am interested in pursuing upon graduating from college.
I wish to pursue a career as a Surgeon, a professional who operates on a patient to treat the injuries or illness they have, for the adrenaline rush, extraordinary reward, and great benefits. I’ve been interested in this career since I was very little, I would always play doctor with my siblings. Another important reason why I want to be in the medical field as a surgeon is when my brother was very young he had open heart surgery. My mom is in the medical field, she’s an Echo Tech and I look up to her and want to be like her. The thing that interested me the most about this career is that I would be saving lives, helping people in need, and making the world a healthier place. Being in the medical field would give me a
Additionally, the chance to transform lives and help other people is an alluring prospect and would be happy knowing I had the potential to make an impact on medicine as well as on lives . These ideas have coalesced to influence the various jobs I have wanted to do; at first I wanted to be a doctor, then a surgeon (in hindsight this was admittedly due to the TV show Grey’s Anatomy), and now a medical scientist. This wide variety of change can mostly be attributed to a lack of knowledge. When I was younger, I was not aware that the field of medicine was more expansive than just being a doctor. Once I entered high school, I was exposed to the research and exploration side of medicine; the area of science that contains interminable possibilities. I learned about the different facets and complexities of science, which led me to realize that the research aspect of medicine appealed to me most. Through diverse classes, I discovered that I am captivated by possible genetic cures for diseases, such as cancer or Alzheimer’s disease, so I intend to experiment with gene therapy as
I have always been interested in science, especially biology. However, I never saw myself doing a career in a health field until one of my closest aunts was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. After her diagnosis , I devoted myself to taking care of her as I was the only one available to stay with her. After accompanying her during each of her therapy sessions, I discovered an interest in Physical Therapy and saw myself disposed to helping others with mobility problems such as those my aunt experienced.
My career goal is to enter the medical field and push myself to form relationships with the individuals I encounter. I was inspired to pursue a career in medicine while completing my senior internship, where I was introduced to the real-world medical issues that can occur. Through my career, I hope to form relationships, push myself, and help others.
Since I can remember my passion has been to help others. I remember the teachers asking us what we wanted to be when we grow and and each time I said a doctor. That passion has since grown over the last few years especially when my bother had an accident just a few years ago, he was hospitalized for about two weeks. I did not realize it then but that experience has pushed my interest further into medicine. This year I am taking the PLTW college level course, Principles of Biomedical Science. It has truly taught me a lot and I look forward to taking the next level course, Human Body Systems. After high school I plan to go into the medical field and perhaps become a pediatrician. This opportunity to help the patients and families would give me
