A career i’m most interested in would have to be a pediatrician. I chose this because I want to help provide medical care ranging from newborns to young adults, and to provide a healthy lifestyle for them. In order to be a successful pediatrician, you need to have patience and be highly organized.
A pediatrician is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. They monitor growth and guide parents about their child’s diet, hygiene,and give you information about your child's health, safety, and nutritional needs.

Children get injured or sick every day, and it doesn’t matter whether the child goes to a doctor or a pediatrician they are still tended to by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse has to have many qualities. They also have to take many different classes. A pediatric nurse’s pay can vary from location to location depending on where they are working. Pediatric nurses must endure many different things to make it into this particular work field, and have many different qualities.
A pediatrician job is to help children everyday. Pediatricians help children by treating an acute and chronic illnesses. To be a pediatrician you have to go through many years of schooling. Pediatricians have to go through pre-med, med school, and residency. Not only do pediatrician have to go through schooling but they will have to be licenced. You are responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. You will also administer the many immunizations that are available to protect children from diseases such as hepatitis B, diphtheria, polio, measles, and the mumps. Routine check-ups are also part of your common tasks list, with the intent of monitoring a child's growth and development from birth to adulthood. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide children with medical care to the fullest extent possible. Another important part of your job revolves around working with your patients' parents or guardians to teach them how to provide proper care to their children on a regular basis. This may include tips on improving childhood eating habits, promoting regular exercise, and improving personal hygiene.

Pediatricians are responsible for assuring concerned parents that their precious child is on the correct track for a long and healthy life. While researching more on the tasks of these doctors, I found that they mainly examine the child before coming up with a diagnosis. A typical examine consists of checking their ears, reflexes, throat, etc. I had also learned that pediatricians are the first to examine a baby who is just born. They must be sure the new baby is breathing and responding correctly (WebMD).
I would like to go into the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner career field. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners help Pediatricians and other Physicians diagnose and take care of children from infancy to young adults. I have grown up with ten siblings and many more cousins, so I have learned how to deal with children of all ages. Also, I have been interested in the medical field since I was a little girl and I have always loved to help people. I would have liked to be a Pediatrician but I would prefere not be in school for another thirteen years, so I found that the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner was the perfect career for me.
In addition to nursing knowledge and practical skills, pediatric nurses must also have the ability to form rapid connections with their juvenile patients. Most children are often scared to go to the doctor, so the pediatric nurse needs to be able to gain the child’s trust and to be able to dispel the fear that the child might have. You must also be able to remain calm under pressure and be a quick thinker, and also be able to smile through the most stressing situations because children can tell when an adult seems worried.
Taking care of the sick is a major responsibility in this career field. You have to work as a team with other physicians. Another duty that has to be done is to provide care and monitor children 's health conditions. As I would are taking care of these children the nurse has to plan out long-term care needs and administer medicine. A pediatric nurse also needs to know how to correctly use the equipment and perform minor medical operations when needed. Lastly one of the main responsibilities of being a pediatric nurse would be to advise the patients of what is happening with their health. Being organized can help a nurse out a lot and I think that I am very organized. Having many patients a day can cause someone to stress out if they are not organized. I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.

Pediatrics is my number one career choice. It reflects my second career choice as an educator .Educators teach and lead young people to their goals and success. As a pediatrician/kindergarten teacher I see myself improving medical practices ,educating my patients/students and mastering the skills of teaching/pediatric work.I enjoy a challenge particularly towards a rewarding objective and although medicine and teaching are tough careers .It will be enormously gratifying.Biology and chemistry have helped me further my interest and develop my analytical skills, maths helps my problem solving skills helping me to work logically. I am a self motivated, determined individual and I look forward to the social and academic challenges of Illinois State University . I am aware of the demands of a medical/teaching career but my commitment and desire to become a doctor/teacher has only been building.
Shadowing a Pediatrician was a fantastic way for me to gain some exposure to the world of medicine. The Pediatrician taught me many things integral to providing quality care to patients. In order to provide proper care for a patient, a medical provider must work hard to form good rapport, understand the symptoms, and come up with a diagnosis despite difficulties or complications.
