Firstly, the two main characters in this story, Kitty and Stew, are crucial elements of the story to present its theme. When Kitty was a child, her and Stew were intimate. She would laugh at her father's jokes about playing with the hairs of his nose. (Gaitskill, 290) This
When the narrator looked at the cat or thought of what he had done, he would only become more infuriated and one day he finished the job by hanging the cat in a tree. The second cat was missing an eye when the narrator found him. He found the second cat in one of the establishments he frequented to drink his alcohol. The morning after the narrator brought the second cat home he discovered, “like Pluto, it had also been deprived of one of its eyes” (Poe). No one knows how the cat lost the eye, but it led the narrator to distain it more because it reminded him of Pluto and what he had done to the first cat. However, the loss of the eye caused the narrator’s wife to love the cat more. After looking at these similarities, we can see why the narrator was questioning if this was Pluto or a different cat, but we also must look at an important difference.

This behavior went on for years in the Kuhlmann’s house before Emily’s father was finally finished with that cat’s attitude.

When I first started reading this narrative I was prepared for a sobering difficult tale, but by the second paragraph I was smiling. So it was that the writer set me off on a journey full of challenge and abundant humor; a kind of humor that doesn’t seem funny in the thick of it, but later makes you laugh. At the outset I was hungry for imagery- were the children boys or girls, what kind of dogs did she have, but It didn’t take long before these questions were answered and I was able to picture this small family that was trying to redefine itself. The author was present in every word of this narrative.

In paragraph four of the story it states, “The bear asked” (Twain). In this example it gave the bear the human qualities to ask questions. Whenever a bear out in the woods sees a human being they do not ask if they can eat their food, they just eat it.
Greg and Ashely were eating at their favorite restaurant. "We need to talk," Ashley stated, "We're just not the same as we used to be. You don't laugh and joke with me anymore. You don't vent to me, express your feelings, or gossip. We don't even sleep in the same bed anymore." A worried look appeared on Greg's face. H began to twitch and move around in his seat. "What are you trying to say?" questioned Greg. "I want a divorce," said Ashley, " I changed the locks and you need to leave tonight." Greg then lashed out in a fit of rage. He threw his glass across the restaurant; it smashed on the wall. After that, Greg flipped the table, sending chicken alfredo towards a nearby window. The pasta made a large squishing sound as it
