Perception Of The Context Of Prejudice And Discrimination

Satisfactory Essays
My perception of the context of prejudice and discrimination is that prejudice occurs when we have a negative prejudgment towards a group of people. We form unjustified negative attitudes about a group of people when we do not know them or how they live their lives. On the other hand, discrimination is when we act on those negative attitudes and treat those groups of people unfairly and make them feel as though they are inferior to us. The unfair treatment is justified mainly on our negative attitudes towards them and not because the groups of people deserve to be treated unfairly. This unfair treatment makes us appear superior and gives us power over the specific groups of people.
