The rule is that you can't wear shirts with bands on them. Ben clearly didn’t break any rule that the school made because the rule should not have been made in the first place. Robert Frost is the author of Nothing Gold Can Stay. Although you have to break down this poem to get the real meaning, it is based off of his point of view of politics. But, this poem can also be taken many different ways. Even though I said it was based off of politics, it can also be about nature and life.
“Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics,” announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. “What is your topic Cindy?” As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. “Waffles are better than pancakes.” I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. “Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!” I survived to live yet another day.
“Hey guys! This is the last communication you shall receive from me. I now walk out to live amongst the wild. Take care, it was great knowing you” (Qtd. In Krakauer 69). After graduating from Emory University, Christopher McCandless abandoned everything, gave his entire savings account to charity, and then hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wild. In the novel, Into the Wild, Was McCandless justified in shunning society? McCandless was justified in shunning society because he simply wanted to find himself and be independent without any distractions from his friends or family.
Plautus once said “You have to spend money to make money,” a quote made painfully true by the penny, a coin worth 1/100th of a dollar. The penny’s story starts in 1792 with the first U.S. Mint which produced the dime, quarter, nickel, penny and half penny which we will get back to later. Pennies were originally made of 100% copper, however, as prices of copper rose they soon started to make pennies out of 95% zinc and 3% copper, which is how they are made today. Soon after this, the raw material of pennies began to cost more than the penny itself was worth, therefore people began to melt them down and sell the material for profit. When this occurred, instead of the government getting rid of the pennies all together and being happy citizens where removing them from circulation they made melting the currency down illegal and continued producing 4 billion pennies a year! You can find these tiny useless coins anywhere from in your couch cushion to on the sidewalk. The reason we should stop minting pennies is that they cost money, waste time, are bad for the environment, and they are useless.
Abandoned Farmhouse and Nothing Gold Can Stay are very different poems, but the have some similarities between them. One similarity between Abandoned Farmhouse and Nothing gold can stay is they have a similar overall theme. That theme is change. A couple lines from Abandoned Farmhouse that helps me prove this theme is change is“He was a big man, says the size of hi shoes. A women lived with him, says the bedroom wall papered in with lilacs. They had a child, says the sandbox made from a tractor tire. Something went wrong, they say.” These sentences prove that a theme for Abandoned Farmhouse could be change because, once there was a family living there and now they are not. When the poem is using past tense like lived, had, and was, tells me
Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost is used in the book The Outsiders by Ponyboy while watching the sun rise . The poem reflects on the book in many ways. The Poem describes a persons life going up and down thru life. The Gang, Johnny, and dally are incredible examples of the change such as the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay”.
It all started when my brother was carved. It was so dreadful and he looked so ugly. He said the humans took his insides and threw it out into a sort off round thingy like those things that have an plastic bag into the round thingy. And my brother said it was called an bin. It sounded so weird they should call it the round thingy with the crumbly bag thingy inside it. That is a long name so i thought naming it trwtcbtii it stands for the round thingy with the crumbly bag inside it. And then even his seeds were taken out. And i don’t want to be carved like my brother. So i talked to my brother for my plan and he helped me a bit to change it too more advanced stuff he knew. My plan is that i avoid the
Earthly things can be very expensive, but love from a family is priceless, it is expressed in the following passage. By the end of the last hundred pages I’ve read (103-201) in Candy Dawson Boyd’s Circle of Gold, Mattie finally realizes this, as does the readers. Mattie gives her mom a golden pin for mother’s day, which she goes by any means to get, just to bring her family back together.

Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
“Aleah, that is so ugly,” my friends exclaimed as I eagerly pulled out my brand new pants from their perfectly packaged shipping box. “But they’re Michael Kors!” I argued, as though it increased their appeal. The truth was, the price tag read $78.00, and they were completely see through. Within society, there are numerous people who spend thousands of dollars on designer clothing that is not considered attractive street fashion or good quality. Often, the reason clothing is priced highly is because it includes a logo to advertise the brand and proclaim that it is “the cool thing to wear” while pressuring surrounding people to buy from the same designer as an attempt to become cool as well.
In today's world what we wear and how we present ourselves can say a lot about who we are and the stories we can tell. Without speaking a word to another person someone could decipher many things about me based on a necklace that I wear. My necklace could reveal many different aspects of who I am. it could reveal that I am close with my family. It could also be determined that I value the sentimental value over the monetary value. As a gift from my grandmother I have many personal attachments to this necklace, it will allow people to think certain things about me, and it can reveal a lot about who I am; but there are also things that it doesn't show.
Watching television, we all see the commercials persuading people to buy and sell gold. They argue that gold is a valuable resource that will always be so. Whether this is true has been a controversial issue over many years. People debate over whether it is more beneficial to buy gold or invest money in something else. Popular financial magazines have weighed in on the debate. Whether people should invest gold or save their money is an issue people are willing to research. There are many reasons why people may want gold maybe to give to a loved one or too safe for later use and others decided whether or not gold is a good investment. People who invest in gold, not those who just invest in a small portion of their wealth, but those who truly
