In looking at what would produce the perfect three point basketball shot, there were three areas that were explored. Using some advanced technology, this study examined the release time, entry angle and rotation of the ball. All of these techniques are essential to shooting success. Dobovicnik L., et al., stated (2015) “In modern- day basketball it is important to deliver a quick and efficient shot. Besides the length of the throw, the shooting time also depends on speed ” (p. 5). The players were put through a series of three point shots. Using a ball that had internal monitors, data was monitored from the ball to a computer where the final statistics were tabulated. The data that collected was release time in seconds, entry angle

Websites for personal learning, like Khan Academy, are becoming popular with college students today. An article published on Forbes.com states that around forty five million students access or use khanacademy.com in twelve months (Noer, 2012). To learn more about Khan Academy, I chose to complete the “Lebron Asks” tutorial, which has a series of basketball questions that Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player, Lebron James, has asked the Khan Academy scientists. By completing this tutorial, I have learned how anatomy plays a role in basketball, different scientific laws that are related to basketball, and the mathematics behind
Stephen Curry is probably the best 3 shooter in the NBA. He can be dribbling more than 10 mphs and set his feet for a jump shoot in just a third of a second.Though he stops so fast there is still no waste in motion. He also release shoots the ball 55 degrees which gives his shoot a bigger target at the rim. As said in a article in the link it says the steeper the shot, the wider the opening is to the rim. Curry release the ball as he is rising which makes it hard for his opponent to block his shot. After picking up his dribble he can get the ball of in four tenths of a second which is the fast release in the NBA today. His shot is so consistent because of muscle memory. Stephen Curry also has proof that the science of how he shoots the ball
To begin, we were introduced to the question, “Where on the court can you make a shot from?”. In order to solve this question, we plugged our equation into Desmos, examined where our equation could be shot from, and found an area on the court where we could continuously make the shot. The solution we came to was, if we stand 15 feet away from the hoop and shoot at a height of 21 feet, then we will be successful with every shot made.
When someone is shooting a basketball an important thing that is mostly overlooked is their shot arc. This may only seem like a minor detail from your shot but its impact is overwhelming. If you are looking to get an outstanding jump shot one thing you need to have is a consistent shot arc in the mid 40’s. A 45 degree shot arc is said to be optimal because 30 degrees is too flat of a shot and it leaves barely enough room for the ball to enter the hoop and a 50 degree shot arc is just too high and it makes getting the shot up much harder than necessary. A 45 degree shot arc being optimal is backed up by one of the greatest shooters ever Stephen Curry. Curry has an average shot arc of 46 degrees and has a steeper launch angle that gives him a
Today, NBA basketball is one of the most popular sports to watch. Fans love the players’ athleticism, the fast pace of the game, and the overall thrill. However, the game wasn’t always fun to watch. Just like anything else, the NBA had to evolve into what it is today. There were many changes made over the years, but none more important than the shot clock.

One sport that unifies people to cheer for their favorite players, sons and daughters, and best friend’s play is basketball. Basketball games brings the sense of excitement, from warm-ups to the last buzzer. Like all sports, basketball has had rule changes. Recently, a new idea is being discussed in the basketball world. The rule proposes that when a player shoots and misses a three-point shot, one point is subtracted from his or her team. It has the potential to cause an up roaring among players and fans. The new rule idea is just atrocious.
The more and more I look around I begin to see how physics are integrated into practically everything that we do. These things would surely go unnoticed without making a conscious effort to notice them. For example simple things like riding a bike, or driving a car, or playing catch with a son or daughter. Just as these activities are loaded with elements of physics, sports are also, especially basketball. Physics play a part in every aspect of the game, from dribbling, passing, and shooting, to things as simple as setting a screen. First we should take a look at the elements of dribbling.
Players who are skilled in shooting the ball are a desired asset for any team to be successful. They can shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor with great consistency. One of the types of shooters are the catch and shoot type of players. These players excel in catching a pass and immediately shoot the ball to score. Catch and shoot players are dangerous because they tend to hide in the shadows and will score a dozen points in a blink of an eye. Another type of shooter is a player who can create his or her own shot off of the dribble. They are a key player for scoring the ball because they can make off balanced shots consistently. The best teams in basketball all had multiple players who could shoot the ball and score. It is essential for
Shooting the basketball is the easiest thing to improve. The best way to enhance shooting is to keep practicing. Better shooting greatly increases the teams score and gives the opponents a hard time of catching up. Once a player feels their shot is good enough, they can attempt 3-point shots. There is a line pretty far away from the goal
But, ones you hold back the ball you have only 2 choices which are passing or shooting. When you hold the ball, you cannot travel more than 2 steps, which mean 3 steps and above.
