I believe that with motivation and guidance, children of all backgrounds can harbor success in the educational world and receive the skills they need to have a successful and prosperous life. It is a teacher’s duty to encourage lifelong learning, consider individual learning styles and aptitudes, and self-reflect on how to improve. My experiences as an engineer, a person of color, a pre-service teacher, and a STEM advocate have culminated together to form my educational values and philosophy.
The education we receive today holds the power to shape the individuals we will be in the future. Not only does our education aid our choices throughout school, but also the choices we make in our personal lives like where we choose to work and how we portray ourselves to society. Personally, I have enjoyed my educational experience. I have enjoyed learning new concepts and interacting with new people. Of course, there are obstacles along the way. However, these obstacles have given me the opportunity to realize my strengths and weaknesses and learn to improve in both areas. As a student, I hold onto my perseverance, seek guidance from influential figures in my life, and embrace my challenges to which all contribute to my hope to become the finest version of myself.
Everyone goes through a challenge at some point in their life. I went through a challenge last year at the beginning of my freshman year attending Foothills Christian High School. Last year, my freshman year I did not know anybody starting the school year. This made me super nervous to start high school. I was also concerned about the three days a week at school and two days homeschool. One of my challenges was going to school and parts of that challenge was not knowing anybody starting school, having to go to school on three days a week instead of five, and not knowing the campus well.
Describe the most challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?
Chelmsford Public Schools mission is to, “cultivate inspired, creative, and well-rounded lifelong learners who process the integrity and self-direction necessary to be contributing community members.” I believe that as a teacher, it is my job to provide opportunities for students to become inspired, by not only themselves but others in order to reach their goals both academically and socially. I also believe that it is my job to prepare students to become
Every experience we encounter presents us with a chance to grow, to overcome difficulties, and expand our minds. We are the result of our life experiences, which are the foundations of personal growth and development. Any one experience will have its own effect and lasting impact on our identities, but it is the culturally diverse experiences, like those I have and will continue encounter at Washington Technology Magnet School that will remain a part of me and my future as a multicultural educator in the years to come.
In earlier stages of my career, I discovered aspirations for student success when employed as the 4-H Agent Assistant for Jackson County. Through the interaction with students of a diverse culture seeking guidance and leadership, I learned early on that I had the ability to touch a student’s life in a positive way. By teaching life-long lessons and leadership characteristics at the secondary education level, I watched these individuals begin to mature into productive citizens. This was the beginning point of my educational venture.
To everyone involved in my foundation, including my staff, board of directors, sponsors, and most importantly, the young students we reach, our work is more important than ever. Thirteen years ago, my dad and I envisioned helping young people achieve their dreams through education. This work remains unchanged and will continue to grow. From the Learning Center students in Southern California, to the Earl Woods Scholars in Washington, D.C., millions of kids have changed their lives, and I am dedicated to making sure that continues.
What is it that enables a trajectory-changing education? At Building Excellent Schools, the answer is rooted in sound and relentless execution on all the core fundamentals of running a school, i.e. the academic program, school culture, and operations. At Educate78, the answer is rooted in designing a school experience for students that is authentic to a particular community and also allows for deeper learning. As a lead petitioner in the process of founding a school – and a fellow of each of these organizations – I have been fortunate enough to observe and learn from both viewpoints. I have come to an understanding that both are true and not mutually exclusive. My goal is to soundly integrate the best aspects of both models
Most people expect an education from a school. Instead, I’ve received so much more; a source of strength and guidance and a series of challenges and experiences that have helped me grow both as a student and as a person. From the insight earned and
The obstacles I met over the last three years are grades and shyness. I learned to overcome these obstacles by studying and joining the class of 2017 club. These experiences will impact my ability to problem solve ahead because they helped me survive. Also, they make me grow as a person.
There are plenty of obstacles, challenges and problems out there ready to get right in the way of plans, dreams and goals; there’s those that will grow into bigger problems and those that will reduce in size, if not resolved. Depending on whether, we decide to avoid them or face them head on; which we all have done at one time or another in our lives and got us to where we’re at today. Then there’s everyday life, that throws new complications and encounters at us every day; which is also another thing that everyone is endlessly faced with, and what we must deal with immediately to survive and overcome; prior to allowing it grow bigger and get out of control. Those too are obstacles, challenges and problems that make life fascinating and overcoming them; is what makes life meaningful.
I decide to accept Journeys Middle School as my new challenge based on the superintendent’s offer of the role of the school principle, because I believe that empower teachers and focusing on students’ achievement in a key factor for a good school community and value.
The most significant challenge I have had was when I first started school I didn’t speak English well; when I started school communication was difficult with my teacher and my peers. The year following that I was enrolled in speech classes to practice pronunciation and learn vocabulary. During the time I spent in those classes , I felt left out of the rest of the class. I would go to Speech everyday and when Friday came around every week my first grade class had Fun Friday . When Fun Friday would begin at the end of every Friday I was sent away to Speech. This affected my academic achievement by making me work twice as hard as peers in and outside of class.
The first obstacle had to face are my parent divorce. When this obstacle happened I was depressed and not do that good in school. My aunt had to take to with her friend that was an therapist I only went for one day, when it finish the therapy I realized that my life is not over just for a dilema. I was more relief and more ambitious to do all my work and pass all of my classes. The second obstacle is that I would struggle at school is turning in my work late when it was due the next day. Then, I had to overcome it by, making an agenda to keep my work on track and test to study for the agenda really helped me alot. My last dilemma is that I would work during school because me and my family depend on my dad sending money when sometime he wouldn't send us money. Me and my bigger sister would always try to find a job to help my mom to pay bills etc. Another obstacle is trying my best to have good grade and study in a correct way. I try to keep up my grade but sometimes it's hard. I sometimes
