Yuba College Student
“Sebastian”, Age 4 years
June 16, 2017
1 Session
5:00-6:30 pm
Introduction The purpose of this observation is to gain understanding of a child between 3-5 years in all five areas of development. For my first observation I observed a 4 year old boy named Sebastian. And my goal for this observation is to understand more in depth of the five development stages; social and emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development.
Participants
Sebastian is a 4 year old, outgoing, smart, and very talkative boy who lives in Knights Landing, CA. He lives with his mom, dad, and older brother. He was born in Davis, Ca and he has been living in Knights Landing since he was born. His dad is a self-employed mechanic and his mom is a real estate agent. Sebastian is enrolled for pre-school, and he loves it. Sebastian seems to be a healthy, happy, outgoing, and active boy. During the observation, Sebastian, Sebastian mom and dad, his brother and I were the only ones present.
Setting
Before my observation I was debating on doing an inside observation or an outdoor observation, and i decided to do both. I started by observing him in his own house just so I can see if would get comfortable with me being there, and he was! He was singing, dancing, and playing. After my first 20 minutes of observing him in his house his parents and brother decided to take him to the park. As we were walking to the park he was
The expected pattern of children’s early years development from 0-5 years consists of Physical, Intellectual and Social and Emotional development. Children aged 0-5 years are expected to be able to walk, talk and interact with other children and adults by the time they are aged 5. Social Development is where a child learns to interact with other people and how to behave in different social situations and how to understand other people 's feelings and their own feelings and how to manage them.
I will be observing a seven-year-old child for my project. What I have learned from being a parent and watching my kids as they grow up the social emotional, physical and intellectual changes that occur in children between birth and the end of adolescence are that they all progress at individual intervals from dependency to increasing individualism. Because these developmental changes may be strongly influenced by genetic factors and events during prenatal life, genetics and prenatal development are usually included as part of the built in parenting skills we all possess. When children are born they have no sense of fear but quickly develop a fear of what
"Ever since I was a child, I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one 's potential"(Bruce Lee). I think this quote pertains greatly to how children grow up. The Assignment purpose was to observe a child between the ages of 2 and 16. Human Development is important because it shows what you can identify. For example, if there is anything wrong with your child or if your child is more developed than others. Plus, there is so much that you can learn from observing the child from how they react in their environment and around people. If you know what to look for in human develop it greatly helps in knowing what to do with a child when you least expect it.
Children’s development can be grouped into four different aspects: physical, social and emotional, intellectual and language.
Through out the observation both children were moving from place to place. The little girl would grab one toy then go find another one. She would play one type of activity then go back to building blocks. She would stack blocks and connect the rail road tracks for the train. For approximately 3 minutes or more the girl would stay fully engaged trying connecting the railroad tracks. She would forget that she was in a room full of other toys, for a moment I possibly thought she could be autistic because she was able to stay focused on one activity for a long period of time and not engage other children. Her fine motor skills were adequate for her age she was able to hold objects in her hand. While she was fascinated in putting together the railroad
I begin observing Faith Sanchez a six-year-old, who is in the first grade at Emerson Elementary School on November 7, 2017 over the course of three days. The observation took place at the child’s home, where we had access to the materials needed for the different set of skills that I would be conducting during the observational period. The reason for observing Faith was to see if her Physical, Cognitive and Psychosocial domains are developing at the average range for a school age child or if she was showing signs of atypical development.
In this case study I will describe the observation of a child while applying psychodynamic thinking and theory. The whole observation took place in a secondary school within a 9 week period, one hour every week. However, I was able to observe this particular child 6 times as at the beginning I was given a different child. Due to the fact that the first child was not attending the lessons they had to change him and find me a different one. For confidentiality reasons all the names that will be referred in this case study are going to be pseudonymous. The second child will be referred as Marissa, the Learning Support Assistant (LSA) as Anna, the Inclusion Manager as Alison and the school as Roots. In this observation the main purpose was to attempt to understand the unconscious inner world of the child, the verbal and non-verbal
Describe the locations where you conducted observations and how much time was spent observing at each site: who was there, what were they doing, when and where did you observe, how was it being conducted. Briefly describe the people and setting at each site.

Subject “Chris” is a 7 year old middle class Caucasian male. Observation is taking place in the child’s home over the course of two separate afternoons. Chris is a friendly and well spoken child who is small for his age. Chris is the youngest child in his family and both observations take place while his siblings are home. In each case one or both parents are absent.
The purpose of this paper is to locate, observe, and collect information on a school-aged child between the ages of six and 17 in different settings. Once the child is identified, a pseudonym will be assigned to the child. The child will be observed on his development, to include: school performance, emotional characteristics, social characteristics, cognitive characteristics, motivational characteristics, self-concept, interests, language development, moral development, and health. Also, the child will be placed in proper development stages according to theories based on the work of Piaget, Vygotsky, Erickson, and Kohlberg. The goal of this paper is to develop a comprehensive portrait of the subject.
This study is intended to document my observation of a child between the ages of 2-5. The small child I observed is a 4 years old male. Family arrangements consist of the mother being the primary caregiver of her son. Since the child is not old enough to consent to my amateur study, I have received permission from the mother and father. The method used in this clinical report is a naturistic observation in which I went to the family’s household where I recorded his behavior for an hour.
Today mom greeted her child with hugs and kisses and the child returned the sentiment. The child wanted to watch Car’s so mom turned on the television to the correct channel. Mom made taco’s for dinner and she asked the child if he was hungry, he said yes and ate his taco seasoned beef with ketchup along with a few nacho chips and for dessert the child wanted an orange.
For this observation, I observed two children one boy age three named Ace Johnson. Little Ace suffers from Epilepsy which limits him from using certain technology in the class for example the Game Table. The Game Table is what we use to asset the children when they play their games. We found that whenever Ace uses the table he has an attack therefore we try our best to use different alternative such as the computer his dad provides just for him to use. Another key information to know about Ace is that he is from a single parent home. Ace lives with his father, his teacher did not go into too much details about his personal life because that is private.
