My Career Choice I have chosen to explain how I made one of the best decisions in my life: the one to become a nurse. There are many options for a wonderful career path, but none that I feel could compare to nursing. As a child, I always wanted to be a veterinarian. When I became a teenager, I thought my purpose was to be a paramedic. Sometimes in life, we have situations that change us completely. With that being said, I plan to tell you how it all happened. VETERINARIAN Every little girl has a dream; for some its marriage and kids. For others, it’s becoming a model or a teacher. For me, it was being a veterinarian. I always wanted to save the animals, no matter the size or breed. I wanted to rescue the lost and fix the sick and helpless. We always had pets, and at one point had 12 or 13 cats, dogs, and pigs. I knew I had to stay on track and schooling would take a long time, but I was ready. I didn’t want anything more. One day, when I was about 14, my cat got sick. He was 8 years old, the sweetest and most playful cat you could imagine. After a long, happy, and healthy life, he got leukemia. The only fix was surgery, and that wasn’t an option for us at the time. As much as it broke my heart, I knew I couldn’t let him suffer. No one should suffer! We made the decision as a family to have him put to sleep. When the time came, the veterinarian had let me stay in the room right by his side. I got to hold him until his last breath.
