"Tomorrow is the first day of what I will become." I wrote this in my diary the night before my first day of college. I was anxious as I imagined the stereotypical college room: intellectual students, in-depth discussions about neat stuff, and of course, a casual professor sporting the tweed jacket with leather elbows. I was also ill as I foresaw myself drowning in a murky pool of reading assignments and finals, hearing a deep, depressing voice ask "What can you do with your life?" Since then, I've settled comfortably into the college "scene" and have treated myself to the myth that I'll hear my calling someday, and that my future will introduce itself to me with a hardy handshake. I can't completely rid my
Students who graduate early has an unlikely chance to survive in the real world, Reality well hit them in the face and they won’t have the opportunity to rise up and make a difference in their self if the graduate early.
My life has been like a dark maze. I have absolutely no idea what's around the next corner. Each path I've taken has lead me to one of two things. Something fantastic that I'll enjoy and remember or something I wished never happened that I can forget. That's why I'm scared to take the next step because I don't know what will happen to me. However a few years ago I learned to give to give each step a chance, no matter how far back that step will take me. Being a senior this year a cartoon word has been shoved in my face a hundred times a week. That word is college. Just getting into college is a challenge. Thinking about all my test scores, GPA, applications is enough to give me a migraine. If just getting into a good college is this hard, I
After I graduate, I hope to attend a college with medical engineering based programs. The only reason I possess this dream is because I have a little cousin who had to have below his right knee amputated when he was just 3-4 months old. To this day he can walk and run and he is not any different from anyone else, which is why I want to help people just like him. To fulfill my dream I plan on trying to get a scholarship from University Of Iowa because they not only have a great school and good classes to take, but so I can be close to home as well. The skills I will need are working with math and science. I need to focus on and learn how to build a good eye for design, communication and team working skills, and how to be able to have a
My sophomore year in yearbook as far as a job in yearbook I was working with Andrew Izzo as the Index Editor, Which mean we go through all of the "finished" yearbook pages and we check the name spelling and we "log" what page each person is on. But away from Index Editor I did a lot of other stuff also. I worked with the cameras alot so I would sign people out along with 3 other students, and I designed pages.
It is easy to view college as a necessity to land a great job after you graduate. I always thought going to college was something that I needed to do, everyone that I associate with has gone to college, so I should be the same. During this last year, the question why do I want to has been something that I have thought about thoroughly. I am a curious student, I enjoy learning about new inventions, ideas, and methods and figuring out how these things work, and how I can improve upon them. I want to go to college so I can learn about the subjects that interest me, mainly being mechanical and civil engineering, math and science, so that I will have the tools and, mainly, mentality and knowledge to succeed.
TCC was a way of “getting my feet in the water before diving in”, I wanted to be aware of what to expect. Adapting to change takes time, but I knew TCC would assist in a smooth transition from high school to a university. Additionally, I wanted to experience higher levels of learning. For example, in high school, I was taught Columbus sailed the ocean blues in 1492 and Columbus Day is a celebration, but college opens my eyes to see the fact that Columbus was gold thirsty causing him to commit notorious acts towards the Arawak Indians, eventually leading to their extinction. In closing, I also chose to attend TCC to explore the social aspect of college. College is diverse and offers many connections, I want to meet people who share common aspirations and participate in programs that correlate with my
My decision to start college can't be summed up in a few words or even a few experiences.

Soon after I go to work where I stay until 8:00pm.
The decision to return to college after a twenty year hiatus was a very intimidating one. Not only was I twenty years out of school and my study habits and routine long forgotten, but the world itself had changed enormously in terms of technology and everyday procedures. There were no such things as PC’s cell phones and yes the Internet back in the 1980’s. Having evolved with this technology made my return to college that much easier, yet I was still very apprehensive regarding the uncertainty of my success. I made the decision in an intuitive manner at this point and jumped in feet first not knowing what to expect and relying on my intelligence to get me through. The first semester I took extremely serious and managed to become a rational/linear
From one of the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, to one of the greatest pop stars to ever take the stage, to one of the greatest actors to ever grace the screen, to the most decorated Olympian ever the University of Michigan has not only a long history but a pedigree of producing men and women that are nothing short of excellent. My personal goal is to be nothing short of excellent. I believe that UM is the best university at taking raw talent and transforming it into pure greatness. The writing department of UM is no exception. When searching for potential universities, UM stuck out due to its impeccable track record of rigor and professor availability. I am not simply looking for just any old college but rather one where I am stretched
I have committed myself to paying for my college education solely on scholarships, grants and out of my own pocket. I think this step is a way for me to take responsibility for myself, my financial state, and my future. This scholarship will allow me to be one step closer to being able to pay for my education without having loans. I have decided on pursuing a bachelors in Molecular and Cellular Biology, because I believe it will benefit me in the long run towards my career path. I am very interested in understanding how things work on a microscopic level which is one reason why this degree is so interesting to me.
Being a young college student you have to know what you want to be within 2 years getting your general education out of the way. Making near and far goals that are acheievable is what college students aim for. In this day and age family and friends freuquently ask, what are you studying in school? Do like your classes? What do YOU want to be? Once you answer those questions they dress you up as a doctor, nurse, teacher, firefighter, whatever it is you are trying to be. Certainly this gives you an incentive to go after your dream and to conquer the long days of studying, or giving up quailty time with your family or friends. According to, “The source of relatability by rebecca mead” She states “The contemporary meaning of “relatable”—to describe a character or a situation in which an ordinary person might see himself reflected.” College students have to see themselves within their education to feel that they are reaching their goals. They want to see a mirror image of themselves.
Freshmen Personal Reflective Essay As the fifth week comes to an end, I realized college is a bit different than I thought it was going to be. Before coming to UCLA, I expected college to be a certain way, but now I realize that it is different. I expected college to have a lot of freedom because we are only required to take 3 classes which seem like very little compared to the amount of classes that I took in high school, but now I realize that each classes has high workload. Many movies that depict college tend to show college students having a lot of free time and go to parties, but that is not really true.

My last year has been interesting and there are many goals, accomplishments and challenges I can reflect on.
