Prejudice is something that is spoken of often, but hardly has anything done to stop it. Seeing prejudicial acts often leave me with an uneasy feeling in my stomach; making me want to do something to stop them. Sadly, there has been very few actual times I have stepped in to protect people are being brutally attacked for reasons they cannot help. Countless times many people will do the same as me; just sit back watching terrible things happen to good people. In my lifetime alone I have witnessed many acts of prejudicial behavior, whether on television or in person there is no excuse for that type of behavior. This includes me, a white American female. Following the plethora of generic comments that are thrown at me, occasionally there are a few that still astound me. Not too long ago, it came to my attention that there was a person who believed I was going to go to Hell for swearing. He preached that people who swear are all sinners. Consequently, he told my friends that I was a horrible person for talking how I do. Now, I do not know what you think of me, nor do I expressly care, so long as you do not ridicule me for something as minor as being vulgar. This student targeted me personally, not any of the other thousands of people who swear. I got called to the office to talk to the principal for “unsportsmanlike” behavior. People in this world say horrible things, if this person cannot understand that he will never go anywhere. People spend countless hours judging people for aspects of their life they cannot change. More often than not, people carry their prejudice values throughout their lives. They end up living very sheltered lives, and never see the broader picture. Furthermore, these people spread their values like diseases to their children. This causes a vicious cycle of prejudice people. The only way to break this cycle is to focus on the coming generation of children. They are the key to ending prejudice
