Critical thinking has been used in my day to day basics including my job I don’t know much of my dream job (probation officer), but I do know it does require a lot of critical thinking such as asking different questions, finding out where the criminal goes when he/she goes missing, and it requires visiting a lot of residents listed on their file if they violate their probation. It’s common jobs rather have employees with more critical thinking than employees who has none because it’s the job done and you get to fine employees who can take their job to the next level, job I have now loves people whose good at critical thinking and can execute every tasked very well. I’m currently working at Taco Bell while some may believe it’s an easy well I’m here to tell you …show more content…
Critical thinking has helped me in my past because I have been able to achieve all of goals I’ve wanted to in life such as graduating high school with a child on my arms attending college while working and having two kids in the process to take care there every need and wants that every child desire, critical thinking has helped me with living my day to day life even when it comes to making hard decisions that may affect my family good or bad. While working for fast foods restaurants I’ve learned that if I can run a drive thru window while making speed under five minutes and cross training three other positions I know I can accomplished any job that come my way including my dream
Leo mentioned in his video that critical thinking is independent thinking and it helps with solving the problems/obstacles in life that are holding us back. The critical thinking video of Leo supports why people should try things so they can learn to overcome their obstacles or problems in life. In the video it also gives more reason to try things instead of not trying; it helps with learning to be independent when trying things that we could fail at. I can personally relate to Leo’s video, because I’m afraid at times of trying new things that require independence since I mostly try not to be socially active with people. But still there are times when I have to overcome my fear of talking to people and just do it, give things a try even though there's a possibility of failure; it’s better than not trying things and not knowing what the results could’ve been.
Critical thinking has an important role in learning and development because if properly executed it allows me to see the entire situation instead of the individual task. I plan to take the necessary actions to determine the task with open eyes and an unbiased approach. Remembering the facts about the situation can help in resolving the issue. Understanding by reiterating the problem can help me further comprehend. Applying then analyzing the tasks and or situations so I can prepare the steps to come to the evaluation. I can see if the resources are accurate and thorough. The last thing I should be able to do to assure my critical thinking skills are complete is a form of creating. I take all the information of this situation, and use it in my final resolution. These steps are crucial in the ability to think clearly and not be clouded by biased information.
Critical thinking helps me to make the right decision in my daily life. Every time that I have to decide something in my life, I first brainstorm to make the right choice. Every decision I make in life, it can make a change on it. One of the best ways I can relate it with my personal life is when I was going to move to Canada.
As Paul and Elder point out, critical thinking is self-guided and self-disciplined thinking that assists us in reasoning in a fairminded way (FOCT, 2017). It allows us as humans to live a conscious and consistent life where rationality, reasonability and empathy and present when faced with problems. While I am actively learning how to become a better critical thinker, I have learned that the first step to successfully think critically, I needed to diminish my power to think egocentric. In my professional life, I find myself evaluating situations with more clarity and looking more closely for factual content in order to base my decisions with more
Critical thinking, in the context of employability, it is a broad term that encompasses the use of “problem solving, analysis, creative thinking, interpretation, and reasoning.” (Dash, “Why Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential in Business”) In other words, while there are varying definitions for critical thinking, it is generally considered a skill set with specific parameters. One of the necessary conditions within of this definition is that the idea to which the term ‘critical thinking’ is ascribed is a skill set. This is also considered a “key area” of professional development. (Joschik, “Well-Prepared in Their Own Eyes”) Furthermore, critical thinking is necessarily a mental process. This is due to the fact that each of the encompassed terms, such as problem solving and analysis, are mental processes. Finally, if the subject to which the term ‘critical thinking’ is being applied is “the ability to think clearly and rationally,” then the subject possesses the sufficient condition to be considered critical thinking. (Hofmeister, “Critical Thinking and Getting a Job”)
I would largely benefit from expanding my use of critical thinking in many areas of life from reading news articles to commenting on family members’ Facebook posts. In reading the news I may infer that if a certain new outlet (i.e. Fox or MSNBC) reported something it is untrue. If I am at a retail store and I see someone upset at a register, speaking with a cashier, I will often time infer that the customer has claimed something unreasonable. When certain family members post about politics, I will often infer/assume that what they are saying opposite of my own
The ability to critically think and problem solve doesn’t have to be as stressful as some believe it to be. As long as one is able to develop questions to ask and answer them to the best ability than the stresses that come with critical thinking and problem solving can be lessened. There is more than just work problems that be answered with these methods. By knowing the best way to begin, continue and end a critical thinking problem you can apply that knowledge to home issues and relationships. The potential to
Education plays an imperative role in developing these skills. Young and Warren (2011), in their review of the education literature, stated that a number of cross-sectional research studies have shown that a student’s critical thinking ability can improve while at college. While Parcarella and Terenzini (2005) approximate that a student can improve their critical thinking skills by 63% by the end of their sophomore year. According to Hurt (2007) these skills must be developed consistently, purposefully and rationally over time to enable students to appropriately respond to the intricate issues that the working environment
I agree with the authors on the definition and use of critical thinking and decision making skills. The benefits of being a critical thinker are enormous, they include being able to make effective decisions and learning to ask the important show-stopping questions. By using these skills you will be able to probe deeper and get to the heart of the issue. As stated in an earlier paper, the use of critical thinking when making crucial business decisions quite simply makes good business sense. Critical thinking skills are crucial in today's fast paced business world. Once these skills become
The meaning of critical reading is to recognize what a text says about the topic. What are the main goal about the text? Do any of the questions make sense of the presentation as a sequence of thoughts, to understand the information and ideas that you have to answer. We find that people will also argue that opinions stated within the text from sentence to sentence, paragraph to paragraph. Critical reading is an activity used when reader rereads a text to identify patterns of elements. They find information, values, assumptions, and language usage- throughout the discussion, text, email and articles. These elements are tied together in an interpretation, an assertion of an underlying meaning of the text as a whole. Critical thinking involves
Every day as an instructional aide I use my critical thinking skills when deciding whether an impending conflict will escalate to violent behavior, deciding on how to approach a student Everyday many employees of organizations use their critical thinking skills in countless decisions, critical thinking skills are not the only skills used by employees, but they are the most important. As an employee I use my critical thinking skills when applying to the policies and procedures of my organization, making determinations, making predictions and problem solving more so on-the spot decision making, and
Critical thinking also helps in decision-making. Both problem solving and decision-making abilities are vital to a prosperous business.
In the article “Critical Thinking: What Is It and Why It Counts” written by Peter A. Facione goes in depth on the topic of critical thinking, and reasons why it can be a beneficial in our everyday lives. Although one may think, “What does critical thinking have to do with my life?” the answer is simple. Critical thinking is thinking that has a purpose, liking proving a point, or an interpretation of an idea or thought, and solving problems. Now, all successful critical thinkers have these six abilities at the core for thinking skills: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The first three skills usually try to identify, and comprehend the issue or idea at hand. The next three make a conclusion,
Critical thinking is the questioning of ideas. It is the process in which you take an argument and analyze it in order to conclude whether that argument is valid. Thinking critically is a good skill that can help others make intelligent decisions and helps them understand what to believe or not believe. Critical thinking is involved in our daily life. For example, every day we make decisions and before every decision we think critically if that is the right decision. We take into consideration the possible consequences of such decision and from that we reach a conclusion. Critical thinking involves disciplined thinking and it teaches you to think for yourself. It is personal growth and confidence that results from learning to exercise your mind to its fullest potential.
