We should always get time to sleep so we can wake up the next morning not tired and not sleepy. This all depends on school, if school is really long some people have less time to go to sleep. Mostly afterschool some students go to soccer practice or other programs which are often really long. If we shortened school time by an hour students will be able to do their activities or programs with full amount of time. Also the students will get

The cafeteria is a place where students buy their lunch and snacks. Often amount of time the prices are not that reasonable. This is where some students have a big issue with. We would like to change the menu with better meals and reasonable prices. The cafeteria should also include a vending machine for students to purchase there drinks which they want. Students mostly pay a big amount of money for the meals in the cafeteria, but not anymore we are going to make sure that all the prices will be decided by the students so we can make an average price for the meals and the snacks. Harvir Kaur Heer will make sure they pay less for the meals in the
Schools all around the nation have starting times for school, that are too early for the students and teachers alike. Schools starting times should be 8:30 in the morning or later, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Sleep loss has become more common in children due to early start times which only gives them 6-7 hours of sleep a night when growing children should have 8-9 hours a night. children suffer the chronic loss of sleep due to the hormonal roller coaster that you call puberty, which only lets them begin to go into a REM sleep around 10 p.m. . It’s also been proven that adolescent children suffer from highers risks of physical health problems, mental health problems, lower test scores, missing school, substance abuse, and being in a car crash due to sleep deprivation. Students end up having to get up before 6:30 to get ready and catch the bus or walk to school, but when you have to study for hours after school, eat, clean up, participate in extracurricular activities, including sports and clubs, and do chores in less than 4 hours to get the sleep they require to be healthy mentally and physically it’s almost impossible. School should start later to better our future generations, with more sleep we could have more positive members of societies.
Adolescents and adults need around 9 hours of sleep daily (De Souza 5). Since schools are starting so early, they can not get the needed sleep time, eight to nine hours. Even though teachers go to school the same time as students, consequences are worse in students and it seems to have more of a critical effect on students. No matter if it is a student or a teacher, the quality of sleep is very important for everybody.
Not getting enough sleep can affect health, safety, and academic performance. What school start times are on average is 7:59 a.m. but should start at 8:30 a.m. said by American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Third, safety is a huge aspect to this topic. There will be less drowsy driving which will minimize accidents involving students, also 31.1% of student who don’t get enough sleep feel depressed or “ sad and hopeless “ all the time well 16.8% of those students have seriously considered suicide. Having later start times will help improve things like after school activities but some say that it will not be beneficial for a schedule change. Later start times will benefit students a lot in the
Should students have to choose between sleep deprivation and academics? How many hours of sleep does an average student need? How is the average student supposed to participate in sports, have quality family time, have an after school job and do homework and be in bed by 9:00 p.m. High School students should have later starting times in order to have a balanced life and 9 hours of undisturbed sleep every day of the week. Three key factor why a later start time is important is because of health issues, and after school activities.
Is sleep important? A question that many people wonder to themselves at night. Of course, the answer is yes. Sleep is one of the most important things in our lives, it keeps our brains healthy and working. It gives our brain cells time to relax and not over-work. However, some teens aren 't getting the 8.5 hours of sleep they need, and believe the school is responsible for it. In most districts, schools start times around 7:00 am in some cases. Parents and students believe that the school district should change this and make the start of the school day later, so that they can get the right amount of sleep they need to function. In the Scope article, “Should School Start Later?” by Justin O’Neill, “Teachers Oppose Later Start Times” by Julie Zauzmer and Dana Hedgpeth, and “Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start Times” By The National Sleep Foundation, discuss the issue surrounding the idea of students not getting enough sleep at night and that we should make the start of school later. On the other hand, other people think that the school day should stay the same. Although some people argue to make school start later, I think the times should stay the same because school ending later will mess up students after school schedules, getting more bus drivers would be expensive, and changing the school times might send the wrong message.
Imagine you get ill after a few days because you don’t get enough sleep for your body. Now stop imagining because this might be happening to people’s bodies need more sleep to have enough energy for the day. That is of why school should start later.
Sleep is a very important part of our life. The right amount of sleep is important in how productive our day turns out to be. Early school hours are causing children to not get enough sleep and making the children vulnerable to depression, anxiety, weight gain, lack of focus, and being late to school. Adolescents need between 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night. However, they are not able to get that because by the time they fall asleep at night it is past 11pm, and then they have to get up for school around 6am. The solution is to start school at a later time. Good sleep would mean that students will be more focused and productive in school.
Students need a lot of concentration to work hard. When they are tired and drowsy and they are unable to think as well. Also, students need to think clearly when they are writing papers, do classwork and be able to understand the work that is given in class. If they don’t have enough sleep they will have many mistakes and will not be able to do their job well. If it is the first class of the day, students may fall asleep or not listen to the important things that are said or teach in their class even though out the day. Schools should start at 9:30, and should end around 3:30. Let’s say a student has a lot of homework one night and so he or she goes to bed at 11:00 p.m. “the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) — have expounded on the health benefits of a later school start time for older students. Thanks to hormones and bodily changes, many teens have a harder time falling asleep at night and therefore a harder time dragging themselves out of bed in the morning.”(Source: “Later school start times are a good idea — but they won't be cheap”). So given a later start times students would not have to wake up at 6:30 a.m. but would get to wake up at around 8:00 a.m. and get a full nine hours of sleep or more. In Addition, some students also have to walk to there bus stop in the morning that make them more tried But, if they had more time that problem would be resolved. Some suggestions is If they prefer mornings, they can go to bed early, wake up earlier and still complete their homework. Whether they are a morning or a night person, the student will be well rested and alert for a
A wise man once said “5 more minutes!” This person was every high schooler. As the need for education grows in the demanding job world, students have to stay in school longer than ever before. In 1950’s, school would start at 8:00 AM. Now it is 7:35. What happened? Population grew and the need for job grew as well. But this need for more human resources has put a toll on the growing teenagers. Is 7 hours of sleep enough for students with developing minds? School should change their there start times later to ensure a better performance in school.
Not only is sleep important to have but is also needed to be fully aware of your surroundings . As indicted by, Desi Jedelkin, 3 reasons school should start later according to science," Evidence shows that pushing back school start times, can actually, cut the risk of car crashes". when researcher tested this theory, car accidents caused by teenage drivers dropped almost 17 percent and in places that didn't change the time, car crashes increased by 8%. Not only is this something to keep in mind but is also super important knowing that we can save peoples lives with just a change in time.
Students need more time to sleep i know this because students need about from 8 to 9 hours of time to sleep. Also I know that everybody learns better when they are awake and they will be awake with more sleep.Another reason school starting times should be later is because “According to researchers they had tested about 9000 students in Minnesota and found that shifting the school start time later
Getting more sleep can improve school performances. According to, "Background: Later school Start times" "Teens spend a great portion of the day at school and are unable to maximize learning opportunities." Throughout the day teens don't get as many learning opportunities according to how much sleep they can get. They can't get to do as many after school activities because they are to tired . According to, "Why schools should start later in the morning" "Getting enough sleep helps academic wise, health wise, and safety wise." When you get enough sleep it is more likely you would do better in school, have a healthier body, and prevent accidents and other injuries. If
School is considered to be one of the most important pieces in someone’s life in order to succeed in the world. While considering this, imagine being able to sleep in and not have to worry about getting up at the crack of dawn in order to be educated everyday. Would one benefit more from sleeping in and putting off school for a bit later in the morning? Would one’s academic scores rise due to the extra amount of sleep? How beneficial is sleep when it comes to education? Does more sleep make a significant difference in a student’s academic achievement? Why should schools consider starting later? Will students really benefit from school start times being pushed back? While some may argue that school should not start later, it would be beneficial for schools to start at a later time in order to ensure that students stay healthy and improve academically.
Studies show that teens who don't sleep enough often suffer mentally and physically. Students are expected to be fully awake and participating in all their classes. If a student spends all night studying and goes to sleep late, they have a hard time functioning in the morning. On average a teenager gets six to seven hours of sleep a night. Then again if we were to delay classes students would be able to sleep longer and be more productive.
Day in and day out, students are withheld from sleeping a healthy amount. This is due to various things associated with school. Students are bombarded by work from the minute they arrive to school to the minute they go to sleep. School starting so early in the morning does not help them at all. School should start later in the morning. This idea is abundant on benefits like, students will get to school on time and will no longer sleep in class, students will be able to complete all homework, and students will be able to start their day off on the right foot. Starting school later is the right move.
