The Ultimate Prom Experience
I have been afraid of flying ever since I was young. The idea of being in a metal bird, thousands of feet above the ground, that takes me from one location to the next safely, terrifies me. A pilot, who I could only hope knows exactly what he is doing, has my life in his hands. When I found out that I would be taking a helicopter to prom instead of a nice car, I honestly thought I was having a nightmare. The one thing in the world that scares me the most will be my transportation of choice to one of biggest nights of my teen year.
It’s the morning of what is supposed to be the most epic ride of my life, yet I feel like vomiting. Knotted, my stomach twists and turns in ways a stomach never should. The helicopters will be here any minute. Everyone comes up to me saying, “Oh how exciting this is! I wish I had gotten to take a helicopter to my prom.” I can’t help but to think that these people, who I hardly know at all, can take my place. I would rather walk to prom, in my five inch heels, than take the helicopter. Carson keeps telling me that we could take his jeep instead, but I know how excited he is to go to his senior prom in a helicopter. So I deny this gesture once again.
I hear someone shout from out front that they see the helicopters in
Introduction: Almost everyone has an irrational fear or two—of mice, for example, or your annual dental checkup. For most people, these fears are minor. But when fears become so severe that they cause tremendous anxiety and interfere with your normal life, they’re called phobias. A phobia is an intense fear of something that, in reality, poses little or no actual danger. Common phobias and fears include closed-in places, heights, highway driving, flying insects, snakes, and needles. However, we can develop phobias of virtually anything. Most phobias develop in childhood, but they can also develop in adults. If you
I can also relate to as well. I remember when I was younger and had to face one of my biggest fears, it was when my family and I went rafting. Me and my brothers were going to jump off a ledge into deep water. I thought that I would either be sucked into the water or be taken away by the current. I watched my parents and my siblings jump but still seemed freaky because you couldn’t see the bottom of the river.
I have been involved in the Youth Council for about one year. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Being in the Youth council has really taught me a great deal and has given me a new perspective. Before joining the Youth Council I was seldom involved in any community service activities outside of my school. I was fortunate enough to find out about the Youth Council through a family member and quickly signed up to volunteer.
Well I'm more awake than this morning, and I'm braining better. Since the prom spread is Megan x2, Emily, and Mine's I just was wondering if you know what Dani has in terms of prom-posal pictures, or information. Next class I would like to gather those resources so that we're not scrambling next Monday. Also since this is Dani's spread should we keep the title and layout, and everything and just plug in pictures or take creative control. I'm fine with any of them but I don't want to overstep/understep my boundries.
My fear is Lepidopterophobia, which is the word for fear of butterflies. Many times I have been letting others know about my fear and they always thought it was very funny because butterflies are very small and beautiful. However, I have reason to fear it. My fear has happen since
On the plane trip to Nicaragua, I had to face fears of mine. I have always been scared of even the thought of someone riding on a small plane, nevertheless me riding one. I feel as if they are going to fall straight out of the sky. But I knew that going to Nicaragua meant having to ride on a small plane. The first two planes where normal size planes, but the plane to Nicaragua from Houston was an extremely small plane. I was freaking out!
We submitted our tickets and headed towards the most terrifying- edge- of- your- seat- roller coaster...Fahrenheit. This was the ultimate fear ride for me. Reason being, at that time I was scared of super tall roller coasters like that. My mom, brother, and I walked up to the line.
On January 4, 2010 my family and I needed to go to the Louis Armstrong airport to fly to Miami so we could pick up my grandmother from the airport. This was her first time to the U.S. since she lived in Cuba all of her life. I hated plane flights because of all the plane disaster movies I watched a few years back and it would be the first time i would ride a plane . Whenever I got on a plane, I would always freak out because I was always worried of a plane crash.
AIRPLANES. I know SO MANY PEOPLE who are afraid of flying in an airplane just because they hear about plane crashes on the news! If you’re going to be afraid of something like that, you might as well be afraid of riding in a car, because that’s MUCH MORE LIKELY to happen! SO many airplanes go in and out of airports every day, yet you don’t hear about plane crashes NEARLY as much as car crashes! Car crashes are boring because they can’t hold hundreds of people. That’s why the media cares about plane crashes - a lot of people die at one time. Except those “at one time”s don’t happen very often! More people die in car crashes than plane crashes. Don’t be afraid of planes. It’s so unlikely that that’s how you’re going to
“I think it is important to keep up with things in the community, the old people need entertainment too,” said junior, Hailey Hoskins, who helped put on a senior prom at the Cokato Manor. Dassel-Cokato high school students took an afternoon off school to
There are many stages in a person’s life, people usually just try to fit in. An individual will normally look for “groups”, or people who share the same interests as themselves. In order to get them into a certain group the individual needs to feel as if they are at a safe place to just be themselves without having to be judged by another person. For example, in Prom Night in Mississippi, Morgan Freemen worked at desegregating the blacks and whites prom. He wanted to people to realize that there shouldn’t be groups that they were expected to grow up in. They should be able to be with whomever they decided to hang out with, whether it's a black person hanging out with a white person. These students in this movie experienced in-groups and out groups and they attempted to work against them.
My biggest fear was death, but not the end of my own life, the end of your life. I still remember the days leading up to your death. You were at the hospital for most of them, unable to talk but you could still hear
Senior prom is an occasion that students begin to anticipate years in advance. For some it is seen as the best night of high school. You get to dress up with your friends, take pictures, dance like no one's watching, eat all the scrumptious food, and at the end of the night you get to slow dance with the date of your choice. Towards the end of the year as prom is nearing, everything turns into madness because people try to solidify the perfect prom date to truly make the night magical. If all of the seniors were told that they had to find out who they were going to prom with by reading a random name on a piece of paper, there would be even more madness. However, Aquin High School actually tried this so no one feels ashamed or embarrassed for not having a prom date or believes that you
I imagined how I would act if I wasn't afraid of heights and I tried to act the part. We got into line and we waited for our turn. When the two people in front of us got on, I rushed to the spot where they had been a moment before. Kevin had already explained to me that I needed to let the chair hit the back of my knees, and all I had to do was sit down. I did just as he had instructed, and consequently, everything went fine. My anxiety left me and I actually enjoyed the ride to the top. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be; in fact, it was quite the opposite. As we neared the spot where people were getting off, I watched other kids get off and I mentally prepared myself to do exactly as they had just done. But when we got to the ramp to get off, the front of my left ski got caught on the wooden railing for the ramp. The chair lift kept moving forward, pulling my leg farther and farther behind me until I heard a loud pop! I anticipated the pain, but none came. My ski had popped off! I then realized that I had missed my exit. In a split second decision, I jumped. I hit the ground and just as soon as I did, I was surrounded by the ski patrol in their bright red
The average day was going just as I imagined it would’ve. I went to school, went to lunch with Jake, Spencer, and May, then had my daily boy talk and rant session with May while doing homework. Everything was going just average and it was fine up until May brought up the soon to come, Prom of 2014. Then, as expected, the Student Body called an emergency meeting and announced the theme for Prom.
