Talking about myself has always been a difficult task for me; however, I have learned it is crucial when trying to connect with people. It seems like there is always something that people can connect over, and if we do not share information about ourselves we will never have the opportunity to make these vital connections. With this being said, there are still times when I draw a blank trying to drum up a fun fact about myself. I hope to give you a better understanding of who I am, where I come from, and why I am here.
The most important aspect of my life is my family. My parents, Carol Ann and Lance, have always been my biggest supporters, and my sister, MariKate, is also a student here at FHSU. She is a senior this year, and she will graduate this spring with a degree in Ag. Business. Since my father is a rancher and cowboy, I have always lived around horses and cattle; however, we also have two dogs, Margo and Brandi. In addition to helping on the farm, my mom also has a job in town, as a K-State Research and Extension Agent. I am from a small town in Western Kansas by the name of Scott City; it was a wonderful town, which had the best support system a child could ask for while growing up. Although I was born in Garden City, I moved to Scott City when I was six, and attended all my school years there in Scott City. While attending high school, I was very active in a multitude of activities; National Honors Society, 4-H, Student Council, Varsity Cheer, and Future Business
“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.” ― Tom Bodett. In my entire life, there are a few words to describe who I am: happy, positive, hard-working, kind and generous. Because of this, I have always wanted to be a doctor, who I believe can use all these traits in everyday life; also, it always been my hobby of mine to help people, which is one of the reasons why I love to volunteer. There are many aspects in my life my family, my friends, my ethnicity, my beliefs, and the media that shaped me to be the person I am today, and the person that I hope to be in the future.
1. Who am I? (Name, Place of birth or residence, a personality trait or characteristic, etc.)
I have a wide range of skills and knowledge that I have acquired throughout my personal and professional life. I can communicate with different types of people regardless of age, race or class. I have accessed a huge range of courses that have enabled me to develop interpersonal skills including negotiation and dealing with different types of people and personalities. I also have the knowledge, drive and enthusiasm to work alone when required as I am self-motivated and can meet targets and deadlines. I believe that challenges are best met positively by developing and improving knowledge and skills and through professional reflective dialogue that leads to change. I am very hard-working and reliable. I work well under pressure achieving a high standard of work. I have practical and organisational skills and I can find solutions to problems and face challenges confidently.
What comes to mind when someone asked you about yourself? Do you give a simple “I’m a Student at such and such” or “I go shopping on my spare time” But what about the deeper meaning about it? How would you react if someone asked deeper questions that would never come pass your mind on any given day? Will you be willing to go that extra mile to dig deep within to talk about yourself? Who knows maybe you’ll find a common interest once things are all said and done. Maybe you’ll come out in the end knowing more about yourself which may surprise you.
Over the course of this semester the way I approach my professional and personal life has evolved. I came to a realization that it is crucial to plan, however, most of the times things don’t go as planned. Especially, career wise I believe that choosing the consulting route would be the best option for me, however things might drastically change over the next few years. However, I still believe that setting a guidelines for myself and trying to comprehend what I want to achieve and what my aims are, are crucial in helping me lay out a path for the future. In pursuit of that, in todays’ paper I fist of all want to discover my preferences for the type of environment I need to thrive professionally. In addition to this, I want to evaluate myself and discover how I want my life to be. And finally after exploring where I stand and the shortcomings that I face, I want to use this paper to come up with measures to effectively achieve my goals and work on my flaws.
A quote I would stand by or approve of is, “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’”– Muhammad Ali.
I think the people who will be there in my funeral will say something about my real experiences with them which will lead them to remember and describe some of my personal values that I practiced with them. The first value will be the Christian Faith which I practiced as much I could by attending the services at the church with my family, making my daughter attending the Sunday school, participating in the project of the hunger people, attending the bible study in the church, and dealing with people in a nice way. The people at my work may mentioned some values like being on time, calling them from time to time if they are sick, doing my job’s tasks in a good way, and replacing them at work if they are not able to come. The people at the university may say that Sameh was trying hard to learn, he invited us for the Egyptian food, and he was an easygoing man, whatever we said or being angry with him, he was saying God bless you. My family will mention how I was working full time job, doing may practicum hours, study hard, and helping us at home in cleaning and cooking. They may mention also how I was supporting them by encouraging my wife to study and help my daughter with homework. I would like people to say about me how much I was sensitive to people by trying to not disappointing them, to learn and ask about the new cultural issue here in the American community since I came from Egypt. Also my family in Egypt can say how much this person was lovable; he was calling us every
It’s quite peculiar to compare my past to my future, my dreams to my reality, my love to my loss. When I was a wee boy in Ireland, I had of course thought to escape the squalor and poverty plaguing my community and family. I spent most of my time working around town doing odd jobs around Mrs. O 'Flanagan 's yard or herding Mr. Davey’s sheep, rather than going to school. You see, both out of necessity and I desire, grew up on land. I’ll tell you, no arithmetic or geography could’ve taught me the lessons of life that I earned while working dusk to dawn. If it hadn’t been for my family’s poverty, I wouldn’t have understood the importance of hard work and property. Though I was just about the poorest kid class (whenever I did go) I had a
During my youth, I always tried to be the nicest person I could be. Today, negativity has become a big part of people’s everyday life. In high school, there happens to be tons of pettiness towards one another. People disliking others, many fights and unfortunate events become the center of all the attention and even bad reputations for people and their schools. The golden rule teaches us to, “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”
One day when I came home from school, I wanted to say hello to my step dad but he was in the shower. Therefore, I went straight to my room without saying hello to him. After a few minutes I heard the shower turn off in the bathroom. When he opened the bathroom door I heard him yelling my name, so I quickly ran to him to see if he was ok.When I saw him he told me he did not feel good and could not walk. I told him to stop playing around because he always joked about his health. But he told me he was not joking and as he said that, his left side of his face and body began to not work. He almost fell on the floor but I grabbed him and helped him to sit down in our hallway. This situation was difficult for me to handle because I was only a teenager in high school, I never experienced a situation like this. But I set aside my emotions because I knew needed to help him, since me and him were the only two people home. Therefore, I hurried to the phone to call 911.While me and my step dad waited for the ambulance to arrive, I told him everything was going to be ok and made sure he kept eye contact with me.Approximely five minutes later the ambulance arrived. The paramedics placed my step father on top of the stretcher, and put him into the ambulance. I did not go into the ambulance with my step father because I need to call my mother to tell her what happned. When my mother came home my mother and I rushed to the hospital to see how my step dad was dong. The doctors told us, my step
Life events and emotions go hand in hand. There have been many events in my life that had an emotional effect on me, whether it’s positive or negative. But there’s one event that I think about often, I am reminded of every day, and has also created a continuous feeling of happiness. To some an event like this isn’t a big deal. For me it was something that I had dreamt of for years.
When my parents took me home from the hospital. I was brought to a nice clean house with two dogs named Kona and Jasper. I was generally in my crib as an infant. My mom deliberately made noise when I was trying to sleep to try to prevent me from being a light sleeper such as vacuuming for no reason and getting the dogs to bark. My parents used a gardening table as my changing table (this has little relevance, I just thought it was funny).
When I was younger I did not know much about life and playing football. A lot of the people that my family and I met throughout my life are because of football and how much I loved to play it. When people get older they usually decide to move around what they want to do in life. The main idols that are in my life currently aren’t anyone; they remain no one because, I would like to see what I would become in life and see where life would take me. A quote that I always remember when doing everything in life is “Keep moving forward no matter what you are doing”.
I am currently a sophomore attending Northwest Vista College and will be receiving my associate’s degree in applied science. My journey to obtain my associates has not been easy. Nevertheless, I am accomplishing my goal and over the moon to be doing so. I did not plan to get my associates, I had originally planned just to bypass it completely and move on to get a bachelor in biology, however my health had other plans in mind. My health complications forced me to change my perspective on my life and to reconstruct how I prioritized everything in my life.
My parents are from Mexico, they came when they were just teenagers. They found work wherever they could. I hear stories from my father about the first pair of shoes he ever had in America where some Chuck Taylor All-Stars, and the time he ever had a hamburger at whataburger and how he could finish it because of how massive it was. My mother tells me stories of her childhood. She talks about how her and her other siblings would work day after day in the fields they owned, how she learned how to be self dependant before the age of 10. When we go back to Mexico, everyone in the whole town knows. I can’t go anywhere without someone asking if i’m Miguel and Juana's’ kid.
