Unfortunately, I was not able to attend a real concert, since it usually requires transportation and I do not have a car (or friends who would be willing to drive me there and enjoy some classical music). Instead, I listened to the Brahms Violin Concerto (my favorite composer) performed by Chamber Orchestra of Europe conducted by Bernard Haitink with violinist Janine Janses as soloist. I enjoyed it almost as much as if I listened to a life performance, I promise.
• First piece (and the longest one), Allegro Non Troppo is a beautiful, and sensual musical piece in a sonata form. Orchestra opened it with a soft flutes following by a stronger development of the theme accompanied by stings. It reaches the quiet section and goes strong again. Overall, it felt very emotional and bipolar because of the switches from soft to loud. Finally violin entered. Janine Janses did an amazing job – her solo was touching, powerful and in it sounded in a harmony with the orchestra. A conductor, Bernard Haitink was also great – the orchestra was empowering the violin, going from major to minor. The final passage was especially beautiful. The violin began the beat that reminded of the first theme, and then horns joined along with other wind instruments. Finally, the rest of the orchestra joined and all elements increased in volume and intensity and came together in a powerful final.

It opened softly with flutes, then oboe, no strings in the beginning. It created a magical atmosphere, and in about 3 minutes the violin slowly entered. It suddenly transited into a dramatic and intense section, where wind instruments slowed down and stings entered. Then it turned back to a dreamy and soulful passage. Soft violin closed the
The immersion into two different styles of music was very exciting. I enjoyed each of the concerts due to the sheer diversity I experienced. The Beyoncé concert was, of course, more familiar to me. The energetic performance and dancing by Beyoncé and her troop of dancers were particularly captivating which an actual trademark of Beyoncé concerts. The concert featured her performing a couple of singles which varied slightly in style too. The concert is a perfect illustration of modern pop music. The concert by the Croatian Baroque Ensemble was different. I am not an enthusiast of classical music so it was nice for a change. The performance featured a group of performers clad in black. There was virtually no movement around the stage and the
The concert was very good overall. I am not interested in the classical music concert, but this concert made me thing different towards the classical concerts. Also I learned about the instrument called organ, very interesting instrument. I strongly recommend going to the organ concert. Especially if Dr. Carol Williams and Martha Jane Weaver are starring, you should definitely attend. No regret
When the concert first began, the three instrumentalists walked with energy despite their age. The first song, “Sonata I in G-Major Op. 2, Nr. 1” by Michel Blavet, was a Baroque Sonata. There were five movements and was played by the harpsichord, flute, and cello. All movements of the song were polyphonic because of the three instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first movement, I noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that the melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from fast to slow and the flute would usually take the lead. On the last movement, the cello and the harpsichord
The La Jolla Symphony concert was held on a warm Saturday night, May 5th, and it was definitely a memorable experience, since it was the first symphony concert that I have ever attended in my life. The whole atmosphere was very engaging and the music itself was very different in an insightful way. Over the course of the concert, five pieces were played as Sameer Patel conducted. Each piece was incredibly unique in their own way and did associate themselves together and also to many of the concepts we have learned in class. The concert overall was astonishing that I enjoyed every second of it and will now attend as many more symphonies as I can.
The marching band has also felt like a home away from home. If I wasn’t at home with my parents, I was on the band field. While being in the marching band at my high school, my long-term goal was to become their drum major for my last two years. I wanted to be the drum major that would cause the band members to put every ounce of passion into performing the show. Once I decided this during my freshman year, I put my heart and soul into my band. I stepped up to any work my band director needed help with. Whether it was fundraising or running OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) events or lining the band field, I was there to show my band director I was ready to be a leader. My setback came when I didn't achieve section leader for the flutes
Fifth grade was the year, the year everyone at Oak Ridge Elementary School looked forward to. This was the year we got to ditch the recorder, and pick up a real instrument. A violin. As expected, we learned the basics; nothing more than the names of the parts of the instrument, and how to play the open strings. But ever since that day in 2011, I have been irrevocably in love with playing the violin.
Working with music takes a certain type of patients. That’s why when I knew this project was present, I had the perfect person in mind because I worked so close with this person once before. So, I decided to gather my resources and get in contact with our family friend Dr. Snodgrass who is the superintendent of the Fort Osage R-1 School District and ask if I could receive her email so I could set up a facetime call with her and get this interview on the road. Her name Is Erica Gregory and she is a high school band teacher at Fort Osage located in Independence Missouri. The reasons I decided to interview her were simple. First, she was my star time teacher which meant she was my study hall teacher. As a freshman coming into high school and being placed in a study hall class
On February 26, 2017, I attended to Bethany church, because they brought The Moody Symphonic Band. The event started at evening. Bethany offered a warm welcome to everybody, who wanted to participate to the event. When I came to the welcome room, there were food, drinks, and the most beautiful thing was the members of The Moody Symphonic Band were singing a thanks’ song. The Moody Symphonic Band was funded in 1970. The member are undergraduate and graduate students from Moody’s school. They have
A friend and I went to the Grand Kerfuffle 2016 at the University of Utah. It was a two-day music festival held on April 22 and 23. But I only went to the one on the 22nd which was on a Friday night, unfortunately I was not able to go on the second day. The performances were by the A. Ray Olpin Student Union Building, just outside. They had food, games, and other things by the stage. We sat in front of the stage on one of the grass hills. They had a few performances when we went to it.
On November 11th 2016, I attended a jazz concert that was held in Stoney’s wine lounge located in Dallas. I went with my best friend and this was my first time attending a jazz concert but defiantly not my last. The place was very elegant and yet it also had a homey feeling to it, which I loved. The band that playing there that night was the “The Mike Drake Trio”. Featuring professor Drake on drums, Floyd Darling on piano and Gavin Kelso on bass. The concert was held from 8 pm to 10:30 pm. Some songs and tunes that were played include just squeeze me and a child is born. The drums were played with different techniques. First they were played with the traditional drum sticks but in some songs or even just a part of a song they were played
I went to a chamber music concert called Attravereso il Mare, on October 17 at 8 pm at Boston Court located in Pasadena. This project performs Italian-American songs which represent the Italian-American culture. My friend and I arrived 1 hour early, and people kept coming. Most of them are family and friends, and only few of them were coming alone, but they all had more concert experience than me because this was my first time attending any kind of concert. This concert was in a very small room with only 100 seats, but all seats were fulfilled. This concert experience impressed me a lot and changed my feeling about concert.
I have never had any sort of chance to see an orchestra or symphony play until Saturday February 6th, 2016 when I went to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and I have to say it was quite the experience. During this event, Krzysztof Urbanski conducted Music from 2001: A Space Odyssey which was a 1968 film which was popularly known for its use of classical music.
Imagine the most intense situation you’ve ever been in. Good or bad, imagine that one moment in your life where you felt the most exhilarated. For me, that moment happened on October 31st, 2015. The twenty one pilots concert. For the past year or so I have been listening to a band by the name of twenty one pilots. It might sound silly if you’ve never listened to their music before, but Tyler Joseph and Joshua Dun (the band members) have literally made me hear music in a whole new way. My perspective of music, and I would even go as far as to say that my perspective of life, has changed. And it’s all because of these two men.
The orchestra and the cello compliment each other seamlessly and in a way the I have never heard before. It’s a perfect match and the piece wouldn’t be the same without both of them in unmitigated harmony. For example, the cello may be playing softly and slow, then out of nowhere, the orchestra surprises the audience with loud, but simple tones. I believe that this is where the passion from the piece is divulged. The accompaniment is almost always grand and if I may, reminds me very much of a Beethoven like sound.
I have never been personally a fan of the romantic orchestra music but going to listen to a concert live is breathtaking. I attended the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, Masterpieces concert with music director Fouad Fakhouri performing Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No.1 in D major. There was a full stage of musicians and a complete choir to back it up.
