One day my mom and I had to go to walmart to get some everyday stuff for the house. We knew that there was a bad storm in town, but we still needed groceries. We went to the car out in the rain. We got a little wet, but nothing major. As we got in the car there was a big boom from the thunder after the big flash of lighting! On the way to walmart it rained really hard. The rain was pounding on the roof of the car, but we have needed this rain for a while, and we finally got it. As we pulled up at walmart, I noticed that it wasn’t as bright as it usually is inside. It appeared to me that the lights were out, but I wasn’t sure. My mom and I got out the car, and the lights were on, but they were more dim than usual. It looked as if the lights
It was an awkward day at Wal-mart. I was tripping all over the place. It felt as if I was blind. I thought it was going to be a normal day at Wal-mart. We parked our car and headed inside. It was pitch black. The only lights you could see were from the self check-out boards and they were hardly bright at all. My mom said we should go and come back another day, but my dad said we needed groceries badly. I thought we could use our phones, but we left them at the house. We hardly brought our phones with us anymore. So, it was going to be a weird grocery shopping day. Once we walked in we started our usual route and I bumped into a couple of people. I kept hearing people saying “ouch”. I bumped into the aisles hit my head a couple of times. My
I was just sitting in a chair. I had been talking to my mother while my little sister was in the kitchen eating breakfast and the older one slept upstairs. It was 11:45 at this time and it was quiet. That’s when it happened, the chair under me shook and I watched as the pictures trembled against the walls. It felt like something had hit the house. My thoughts immediately went to my older sister who was sleeping upstairs. I remember thinking if something went through the roof it hit her first. I was already on my feet and on the stairs when I heard my mom ask, “What was that?” and I honestly thought that the tree next to our house had finally fallen over. I reached the bedroom and opened the door. My sister hadn’t even heard the noise. Confused I ran back down the stairs and saw my mom on her way out the door. I began to piece together that this was bigger than just us at this point as I saw people leaving their houses
On the above date and time I responded to Walmart, reference a possible retail theft.
I had put an application in at Publix, I went back a couple days later sat in my car for a little bit and decided I was going in there and ask to speak to the store manager. I went in asked for the store manager and he promptly came out. I immediately stuck my hand out and gave him a firm handshake and introduced myself and started spilling out my experience while working at Winn Dixie for the past 6 years in NC. He asked me my name and then told me he would pull my application. Before I could reach my house, he called me to set up an interview for the next day. I went to the interview and felt very comfortable with all the question he had asked me because Ihad been doing the same type of work for Winn Dixie, and every question he asked me
I will never forget when I brought some of the residents of the group home coloring books, crayons, stickers and a couple other things from Dollar Tree. They were so happy. One of them kept saying: This is for me Ms. Ashley? You got this for me? It's crazy how a $1 coloring book&stickers can make someone so happy. They didn't care that the crayons would probably break as soon as they used them. That the stickers probably didn't even stick. It was the fact that someone actually thought about them enough to buy them something. I have to admit there are days I want to call off and stay in my bed. But then I think to myself, I have someone depending on me to be there to take care of them. How would I want to be treated if I was them? How would
When I was working at Target there were two mangers that I was to train and help if they needed it. The conflict was that they come in and changed everything in our stations. Which was uncomfortable due to that I had more experience and was working there longer. Nothing work well within the ream after that point.
I can see the punch coming, it lumbers closer and closer to me just like a basketball when it is passed to you. Only I had to dodge this punch, which was still coming. The punch itself had several unique aspects, except for its slowness, - it was coming from my best friend-David- and he was ‘trying’ to get us on the same page. Looking back, it was the punch itself which lead to so many things changing between us; however, in the present moment it spurred my other best friend to try to come between the punch and me. Maybe he was making fun because he moved as slowly as he possibly could and the punch was still coming my way. Whereas Paulina sitting on the other side didn’t even bother looking at the commotion going in this side of the room. This made me wonder how did it
Into the chattering street of the city, my mom, my sister, my cousins, my aunt, and I stepped
I have a similar story about my first job at Safeway in Page, AZ. I started off as a bagger at 14, then at 16 when I could work a full shift I was swapped over to stocking on the graveyard crew. I was approached by the union and convinced into joining (I believe the dues were around $35 a month). Approximately three months later during a meeting, they brought up the fact that I should not be working the graveyard shift at my pay scale. Minimum wage was at $4.25 an hour, and I was at $8.00 an hour. The Union ended up putting pressure on my manager who sent me off for a week long stint of cashier school (here in phoenix). When I returned I was given a dollar an hour raise, however when I had to work on a Sunday or holiday, my rate
When I found out my aunt had breast cancer I was devastated because I thought of all of the things we used to do before she died. I remember when I was younger she would take care of me and my brother since my parents would be working or my mom would be at school. When me and my brother was younger she would drag my brother in the wagon and carry me in the wagon since I was smaller then my brother we would go up town and run erands with her we would go to the Piggly Wiggly so she can get groceries, To the drug store so she could get her medicine and the people that worked their would give us some candy everytime we went and we would go to Bonnies when it was open and get a cheese burger. When she would cook she would let me and my brother
One day in the U.S. in 1939 during WWII Mr. Erlsten was packing to be deployed to Germany in two weeks. Mr. Erlsten was a Support Gunner. Two weeks later Mr. Erlsten is on the boat to Germany then he remembered he forgot he forgot some medical supply’s.
Hy-Vee helped me restart my life. At the beginning of August of 2016, my family moved from Hampton, Iowa to Mason City, Iowa. My dad’s job is in Mason City so it made sense for us to move. When my family moved, I didn’t know anyone up here and I needed to quit my job in Hampton as I wasn’t earning enough for it to outweigh the worth of the drive back and forth every weekend. I scoured the area for a job opening for weeks with several rejections and few promising results. Without friends or anything else to put my time and effort into, I started to drive myself insane.
I am a tiger, lion, and panther fanatic, but unable to actually own one. Therefore, I adore dogs for the protecting and guarding. When marketing introduced the official ambassador for Target, Bullseye, I enjoyed seeing him pop up in cool places. A special characteristic regarding Target stores is the mascot showing up on the red carpets for interviews, albeit all in the form of dog language, photo opportunities with the stars, and walk on the runway among models. Another main reason I shop at Target is the cleaner and organized layout of the store. The employees are better dressed and shows experience handling people. Usually you will find a Starbucks inside which is on the pricy side. Target gives back to the community. Children are
If I won a shopping spree for Best Buy, then I would buy a computer, chair, phone, fridge, and a laptop.
