At six o'clock in the evening, New York City came to life again. Last week, Jimmy made an appointment with me and we planned to board the cruise ship to Coney Island on Saturday evening. When I finished my intensive work in the store, I went back home in a hurry and replaced the long pleated skirt into that evening gown. Then, I checked my pocket watch, I found it was time to leave. I went out of the house in a rush to make sure arrived there on time. In the noisy crowd at the wharf, I found a familiar shadow that looks genteelly. . . Mr.… Jimmy! He stood on the deck already. It seemed like he waited for a while. "Good evening, Mr. Farrington," I said. He saw me and nodded, "Summer night always makes people intoxicated… Ha! Mamie, I'm looking …show more content…
We arrived. Waves of laughter came from this island. What a resort paradise! Many people hung out there, which led to the crowded scene. As the largest amusement park in these areas, there were lots of independent theme parks and exquisite sceneries here. Some sumptuous hotels looked so dazzling at this island. It seemed like queen and king prop up the flourishing of the whole island. I stared at these hotels, which made me feel disappointed. When I wanted to express something, Jimmy interrupted my thoughts. "Hey, Mamie... Mamie, don't the absence of mind, look at the bulletin board, we need to do something! Look! This, this and this…All the recreational facilities belong to us! Catch the ticket; we are able to play all facilities that determine by ourselves. By the way, our tickets have been discounted," Jimmy said in excitement. In my memory, he is exclusive and calm. But at this moment, his behaviors extremely looked like a child who obtained a candy from their parents in the Christmas Day. After browsing the menu of the ticket, " How about the Rollercoaster first and then we choose the Ferris wheel?"I suggested. "It sounds great!"Jimmy
and said, “I have been watching you and you always come out late with Mr. Kraler and we got some
East Coast is known for so many different things; people, history, fashion, stores, and heritage. But the most recent trend is desserts. Desserts can be sweet, savory, healthy or unhealthy. Desserts make people feel happy especially east coasters.
"Please, can I just talk to you, Y/N?" It'd have to be the first time he's called you Y/N since you met him, which was quite confusing to you as you wondered why he's starting now. You decided to give him a chance, nodding Clarke goodbye while you start to walk with Murphy.
Tomorrow at noon i will be getting picked up early from school. My family and I are leaving to go to Virginia Beach. Where it's always hot and the air smells like salt from the ocean. I am hoping that in the three days we are there i can go parasailing. Also i would like to go charter boat fishing, i called and asked how much it would be and they said it would only be thirty five dollars a person and u get to keep what u catch. My mom called the parasailing place and they said the have three different types of flying. The first one u can go up eight hundred feet, the second one was nine hundred and the third one was a thousand feet off the ground. If i do go parasailing i am going to go all out. Even though i am afraid of heights i am getting
The thing that I miss most about summer is King's island. I had a pass so I could go when I wanted to and it was always a fun time. It is a good time to hang out with friends and go on rides. My favorite ride there is the beast because it isn’t too bumpy and it has a ton of sharp turns and caves. It also is slightly scary with all of the fake warning signs. The food at Kings Island is also decent so I wouldn’t have to go get lunch. If I get tired of the rides then I can go on the water rides and the wave pool. The water rides don’t usually have the longest of lines if you get there early but if not then they are worth it. My favorite overall is the Tropical Plunge. This ride has the drop shoot, You stand in a vertical tube and you wait for the countdown and the floor drops underneath your feet. You then shoot down the tube and you make it to the end. All of these factors make Kings Island a very fun place, and the thing that I miss the most from summer.
Harpers Island. A place I never imagined myself going back to. Not after all the shit that went down there. Too many bad memories for such a small island. Yet, here I was, on the ferry, heading back to that very island. If that wasn’t surprising enough, the only reason I was going back was because my father was getting married again and decided that Harper’s Island was the best place to do it (bullshit). Most of the guests attending were on the bride’s side of the family. All of them were hot-shit lawyers and judges and doctors and basically everything my father wasn’t. He lucked out though, his words. When I received the invite, to say I was hesitant would be the understatement of the millennia. I almost decided not to go. I was so close.
New York is a state where there are big lights and lots of people and busy streets. I live in Brooklyn, New York and I was born here and I have lived here all my life. Personally, where I live I can walk to go get groceries that I need and everything is in walking distance. I take the public subway or the bus to get to school and there are many public schools here in Brooklyn, New York. There are delis and corner stores almost around every block. Here in Brooklyn, it is very noisy and busy. I am so used to the noise that I can sleep soundly even with all the noise that surrounds my house. Personally, I think that if I were not born here or was not a New Yorker, I would plan to move here when I get older.
The United States has always been “home” to me because I feel that I am a bit of the quintessential American story. I was born to immigrants hoping for a better opportunity than what was offered from their third world home country. I was raised and went to school here, which blended many of my parent’s home culture and the new American culture. As I have matured, I have noticed how much my life has been influenced by society’s opportunities and issues. The American character is the crossroads of opportunity, struggle, and hopefulness because the it is not only a reflection of the founding father’s ideas, but also a reflection of minorities who have interjected their experiences that shaped my American journey.
After my shower and getting dressed, instead of making a cup of coffee for myself I left my apartment and walked around the corner to the little breakfast spot where Jim and I were to meet. I got there at quarter to ten so I could get a bite to eat before Jim showed
The Summer air is warm. Beacons of light peer through the canopy of leaves. Short green grass dances in the breeze. Foaming waves crash on the sandy shore. I can’t wait for our annual trip to Peak's Island.
Dear Family, as you know I’ve left Ellis Island in search for something better with my mother and so far the trip is amazing, it’s not everything I thought it would be but I am continually becoming surprised each moment on this ship. You want to know the name if the ship were on? It’s called the “ Henry Gibbins” that’s such an odd name for a boat but if they like I guess I love it. You want to know something else? I’ve noticed that everyone here seems to be traveling from Ellis Island to come to america, I spoke to 3 different people and they said that they were coming from Ellis Island and are either traveling to Oregon, Florida, or Texas. You’ll never guess where going to, we’ll be arriving in Texas as of January 1st, 1953 which is a great
Even though I’ve eaten lobster rolls, sported L.L. Bean jackets, and cruised lighthouse-studded coastlines, I am anything but a New-Englander. Though this has been by 4th year in Massachusetts, I still feel like I’m still the new kid on the block, the midwestern girl who’s naive to the traditions and expectations of New England. But, I am comfortable here, a result of many challenges I had to face over the time I spent in Massachusetts. These challenges did not arise when I first moved out—I was very unhappy the first and second year—it was during Sophomore year, when I started to adapt and be happy, did challenges from home spring forth on me. These challenges were from the people that I had left, family, friends, and others who felt that
Every year, the 7th graders at Wayland Middle School embark on a journey to Cape Cod. Since this was a school trip, I thought we would have to do a lot of school work such as writing and science with the animals. But, we only had to do ten minutes of work every day and the rest of the day was hanging out and playing with your friends, and opportunities to get closer with people who you didn’t know that well.
My family and I we’re going to Wildwood,NJ. All of a sudden our car started to go up to the sky. Then the car stopped in mid-air. And we thought that the car will fall down and it didn’t.So we thought that we are stuck then my mom hit the gas pedal and it was going forward so we all said that is was flying.
It was ten minutes until midnight in the Bohemian Paradise of Santa Monica. The streets were buzzing with street performers and tacky tourist, such as myself. My best friend and I sat in a cramped and antique French restaurant ready to devour our food. The room was filled with thick, buttery fumes that made me hungrier by the second. My stomach growled with each tray of food that passed by us but our food was still nowhere to be seen. Finally our waiter came to our table with the food. As she put down the worn out plates, she said “Bon Appetit” in her thick French accent.
