It's the summer of 2014 and were finally taking our dream trip to hawaii. It was about year and half ago when my mother’s friend marlin asked her if she wanted to come and visit her in O’ahu hawaii where her husband was stationed at for the army. After that day my mother started saving money for the long trip to O’ahu hawaii. If it wasn't for marlin we wouldn't be going on the trip that i have always wanted to go on.so at last it was time to go on our once in a lifetime trip to hawaii. Finally it's Sunday the day of our departure at the lambert airport in st.louis. Our departure was scheduled for 8:00 in the morning. At last were on the airplane and started to ascend into the air, while ascending you could hear the turbines started to spin …show more content…
by the time we were tired we went back to their house it was time to eat, so i bellied up to the table and started to inhale burgers and fries. for today i planned on going to do parasailing. so the day went on, i ate breakfast, walked the strip and by the time i was done looking at stores it was time to drive to the ocean. the Parasailing company picked us up and several other customers, then we went to the ocean. it was about a 20 min drive to the ocean. once we got there we stepped onto the boat and headed out. the boat ride out the crew was explaining their rules. finally the time had come, we had arrived and i was about to go straight into the sky.as soon as i went up it felt amazing, like you were soaring through the sky like a bird. the view was magnificent, you could see for miles. after that we went back to the room and relaxed. we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and watched chronicles of narnia. i was tired enough that i didn't even finish the movie and our last day was getting
When I started writing this, I had no clue what it would be about. I was told “It has to be perfect.” “It has to explain you without you explaining yourself.” “You have to give it meaning without being asked for anything.” “If it isn’t good enough, admission officers won't give your application a second glance.” So, I put off writing it, pondering it over and over in my mind. I’m so glad I put it off, because until recently, I didn’t know what it was keeping me in Hawai’i. My mom lives in Oregon now, and I had the option to move with her because she still has custody. Something kept me here, though, and I wasn’t sure what. Through reminiscing and building more memories, I realized what it was. It was how much I love being Hawaiian. The food,
Alaska is one of two states not connected to the U.S. mainland. A lot of people don’t get the opportunity to visit Alaska because they believe it is either too far away, too cold, or too undeveloped. People think that is a place where you have to hunt, fish, or catch your food because there are no Walmarts or Targets. My trip destroyed my belief that it was an unexplored land with no opportunity for development, but on the contrary, it has a lot of potential and is already a great place to visit. Throughout my trip I visited Denali National Park, went on a Holland America cruise, and went to Seattle.
After all of that we we’re getting on the plane. We found our sets and sat in them and buckled up we were ready for our flight. Were on a plane I was really excited about the trip, when we took off it was going down the runway faster and faster then all of a the sudden the plane was going up off the ground then we were in the sky floating forward. Then the plane was going fast whenever I looked out the window everything on land and not in the air looked tiny it was an amazing site from up above. It felt like we were flying with the birds.
White foam spreads across a carpet of clear blue. The carpet rises, and the foam curves off the back and crashes to the ground. It travels back across a desert of sand and repeats its actions. The morning sun meets the surface, bouncing off and chasing the reflection of the birds flying. Screams of excitement run past me, their bodies wading into the deep blue. Fiberglass skimming across the top, breaking the perfect surface. There was no looking back now. My heart jumps as i follow closely behind. My arms moving fast, diving deep into the warm liquid. Eager to get to the Hawaiian Dives. We start to slow, the sharp, brown rock, marks the bottoms of my feet as i run across. My hands grip onto the rock as i throw my body up to stand. You could see everything from up there.
America is often called the melting pot of cultures, welcoming various cultures and traditions, but the real gem that holds this title is located in the Pacific ocean. This place is called Hawaii and it is a place I am so proud to be from. The culturally diverse atmosphere of Hawaii has grown deep into my bones to become a part of what I am and what inspires me. From the rich languages that drift through this land to the many laughs and the smell of many mouthwatering foods that is carried through the air to various cultures and ethnicities blend together to create a beauty similar to the famous hawaiian sunsets. Seeing that Hawaii is such a diverse location it has introduced me to so many cultures I have fell in love with, many traditions
As part of my networking, there are some high school classmates who I am in constant contact with. We all went to college and have our own careers in different fields. One of these friends allowed me to live with her for my first year out of college. Four of us played volleyball together. They are from Waianae, Kaneohe, and Waimanalo and they?re Hawaiian, Portuguese, and Japanese. Over the years, we realized we get our strength from our diversity. When we have a
“I’m sorry Mommy, I promise I won’t do it again. Please forgive me.” this was all I could say. I had no excuse for my actions.
In August of 2010, our church embarked on a work and witness trip to Jamaica. The group consisted of two teams, a work and a ministry team. The work team assisted the people of Westmoreland to complete their local church. The ministry team presented bible stories and skits through puppetry at various locations. This Mission was called "Maddy's Mission".
Maui, Hawaii, is a beautiful island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it’s an amazing vacation spot. Most families come to Maui for its island zipline, snorkeling with the sea turtles and riding horses through the island. A lot of people get married on Maui and stay there for there for their honeymoon.
I stood in the line that seemed to stretch for a mile long, cell phone in one hand, turkey leg in the other. Inch by inch, I slowly moved forward until I finally reached my destination: the famous Space Mountain roller coaster ride.
I am the middle child of sibling of 3. I Moved to Hawaii 1996. After 2 years, I moved to california Hawaii to go to school in 1998. I returned Oahu at 2005. I have a 90 year old Grandma and two elderly aunts here Hawaii. I am obligated to take care of them when they need my help. I live in Kahal area. It is a very quiet neighborhood. We are surrounded with expensive houses and rich families. I have active lifestyle. I have been active my entire life. I enjoy outdoor activity, especially if it involves ocean and beach. I start swimming before walking, so Hawaii is perfect place for me. I played
I hope you are fully recovered from your time in Florida. I am glad that we were able to share a true Polynesian cultural experience together.
I’ve lived in Hawaii my whole life, and it would be pretty unusual if I haven’t experienced any speech to text problems with my computer or smartphone. Many people recognize Hawaii as a melting pot between Asian, American, and Hawaiian cultures. This creates a large number of different language speakers and words. As Emma mentioned, many of street names in Hawaii are Hawaiian or Japanese names and thus, make it hard for devices to recognize their names. My own home address is no exception. The name of my street is Kuaie St, but when I try speaking to Siri to see if she recognizes the name, she comes up with some bizarre street name that isn’t even in Hawaii. She once mistook Kuaie for Cooley St. in New York. Even the Microsoft word program
When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a princess. A beautiful ballgown dress, a golden crown, and a perfect family. When I was a going through puberty, I was over working for a educations and wanted to become a housewife and be the leading woman in “Housewifes of Hawaii”. Ever since I was a child, misogyny has been ingrained in my mind, I’ve been taught to grow up to have the perfect life with a perfect husband and perfect kids. Growing up and watching Disney movies, Little girls are taught that they’re life isn’t complete until they meet a man who will rescue them whether it's from a towering castle, their wicked stepmother, or a curse that can only be broken from true love’s first kiss. Whatever the situation girls will always know that on a handsome man will come in and save the day, so there is no reason to fight for your fights just stay in the tower, or continue cleaning your floors, or wait everyday for your prince to come. Out of the thousands of years that humans have existed, not only has media convinced woman to follow their husbands and wait on them hand and foot, but the Bible says that woman will work under men and submit to them. Even our parents, who we look up to, have taught us that the men handle finances and the woman have to clean, cook, and take
Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
