and talked and then we left to go get some small items at Walmart like shampoo and socks and Groceries the we left Walmart. But as we left, we ran into some old friends we sat and talked and turns out they were going to the Rushmore Mall they asked us to tag along with them so we agreed and we followed them there as we arrived at the mall in was packed people everywhere we hit a couple stores in the mall and told our friends that we are leaving as we proceed to leave the mall The
After his discharge from the hospital, police gave him a ride to a nearby Best Western where he will spend some time recovering. McGhee said he might return to Jasper to have a new bike shipped to him and re-stock. He might, however, have the bike shipped to Austin and spend a little time there enjoying the music scene. McGhee, a musician himself, is doing his trek in support of the Fender Music
The next morning we left Birmingham still driving east on Interstate 20 and then turned onto Interstate 95 heading towards Raleigh, North Carolina to visit our youngest son Bryan. We spent two days with Bryan and his family before heading to Charlotte, North Carolina. We scheduled lunch at a Lone Star Steakhouse in Charlotte with Maurice and his wife Irene and dinner with John Baxter and his wife Carol at a restaurant they selected.
As we began our trip, months passed. We had to walk as we drug our cattle behind, all eighty-seven of us. The trip seemed everlasting. Once the month of October began, we reached the Truckee River. This river was going to lead us almost straight to
I had so much fun when me, my sister and my momma took a trip to South Carolina. We was originally going just to go to my brothers graduation from basic training, but ended up doing more than we expected. We had a rough trip on the way to his graduation. By trouble I mean our truck broke down in Atlanta, GA. Since the truck didn't make it all the way there, we got a hotel room in Atlanta. We woke up the next day and went to explore since we was already in Atlanta and I haven't never been before. We first went to find something to eat, but didn't know where anything was at so we asked around. One man said we should go to the Underground Atlanta food court. This is shopping and entertainment district in downtown Atlanta. It was a lot of food
This time this trip is even longer because it took us 319 miles that made us walked for 11 days. On the 6th day, few of us heard a big clunk so we thought that something would have broke somehow. Some of us checked every single one of our wagons to see what had broke. Well right when we heard the clunk, the horse of the Cline Family had startled and stopped until the other animals stopped. So after we walked around, James Seiple found out that the tongue of the wagon had broke in half. So James Seiple started asking for help for the tongue of the Cline Family’s wagon. The rest of us came up to him to see what James Seiple wanted for us. “Help me with this tongue please, it snapped in half and I wanted some of your help.” James Seiple said. Then we all checked on our wagon to see if there is anything to fix the tongue. Then the father of the Colloni Family had grabbed an extra part for the wagon. The father of the Colloni Family came to James Seiple and tried to put it back together and the mother of the Mingo Family taped it up together and it is all fixed. Then we got back to our wagons and started walking to Fort Kearney. Later on the 8th day, a terrible hit us and the wind is gusting really hard with rain and hail. All of us got nothing to do. I got nothing to think
We are leaving Independence along with the 100 wagons in front of us. We are all starting out well it's only been two hours and something you wouldn't believe already happened, a traffic that happened right in front of me so I was that unlucky. We've been waiting almost three hours according to my pocket watch and they start driving again. I am exhausted after 100 miles and we are finally at the Kansas
My story began on September 12, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona. I was born to my mother, a faithful member of the gospel, and my father, an alcoholic. These two traits did not function well together and they ended up getting a divorce in 2001. This would start a new chapter that took my mother, three sisters and I to Elko, Nevada. Nearby was the reservation of my Native American (NA) tribe, the Western Shoshone. My NA heritage came from my father, so when he left my life, he took the culture with him. My grandmother did all she could to include me in the tribe by making me traditional NA items such as moccasins and shawls.
Then, there’s the hubs who refuses to stop in the last 950 miles leg of the trip to sleep. The last stretch includes I-70 through Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri. A road jam-packed with cars at all hours of the
Breakfast didn't have to many mosquitoes in them, and rounding up the oxen, chicken, and cows were quite easier than normal. Today is going to be a good day I thought to myself. We were all traveling behind the leader, when he stopped at this bubbling pool of water. He screamed, We're here! I had no clue what here was but I just followed what everyone else was doing. They said we could wash our clothes here and clean up everything, so I did. It was very warm water, and I thought it was boiling but it was just from ancient volcanic activity. All of our clothes were washed and I was right about the good day I was going to have. For some reason I wasn't sore or tired when I woke up, so that led me to believe that I was going to have a good day. We left Soda Spring around lunch time and our next stop was Fort Hall. I heard Fort Hall you can trade things for hats and other types of clothing. When we get there I'm going to buy a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. I heard you can also buy other things like repair kits and that stuff. We reached Fort Hall at about 6 o'clock at night. We decided to rest for the rest of the day, because there's no point to go out for 2 hours to move on the journey. In the morning we left at 6 because we forgot to wake up, and we left Fort Hall. About a week and a half later we came upon the Three Island Crossing. Now we had to cross the snake river. Our choices were to ride a ferry along the shallow looking river, or float along the river with the wagon and making our animals swim. I talked to Mr. Swanson about this because I didn't want to try and guide my oxen and cow along the river, that just seems outrageous. I finally convinced him to make us take the ferry, because it would be a lot easier and the cost is only $20. We made it across easy with nothing bad happening, and now we are on the other side. I'm afraid one of these days I will accidentally drop
To start off the trip to Rapid, we would get in the car, and drive to a Cenex to fill up on snacks, drinks, and gas. My best friend would get Root Beer and Pringles. I would get M&M’s and Cherry Sprite. We would get in the car, after we filled it up with gas, put on our favorite music, and start the second stretch of the trip.
Welp! Here we are Oklahoma City, I’d thought we’d never make it! From the looks of it, it looks really cool with all the big buildings and everything. “Yeah its pretty great,” says Joe. “So where should we go?” I said, “I heard that there is a museum, we can go there?” Said Joe, Ok. So we went to the museum and there was some pretty cool stuff there like colored glass and many other really cool things. After that we went to a few tacos stands and then we played in a little park, when we were done we headed to a hotel where we could eat and go to the buffet. They had fried chicken, shrimp, popcorn chicken, and a lot of really good things. When we were done eating we decided to go to the OKC where we could play on the trampoline and roller coasters.
We hit the road at about 4 in the afternoon both the cars parked full camping gear and food for the week in South Dakota. We make only one stop the whole Hours we drove to Sioux Falls, SD. we arrived in Sioux Falls at about
The road trip was calculated to be a week long, but it only ended up being three days. Where the road took us, that’s where we’d be, as the fun was in the unplanned and
Day three of cramming as much of the Highlands as possible. I awoke with the birdies and dragged myself to the Kia. Six hours of driving and ten hours of adventuring sure makes you tired. Repeat steps from the last two days: fuel up and Redbull. Today the goal was to drive to John O’Groats the northern most point of mainland United Kingdom. I didn’t have anything planned in John O’Groats. I was more interested in the road. The windy A9 would take me to the smaller coastal A99. I found a map that showed some typical, historical spots and with some help from Atlas Obscura I was rearing to have a busy day. The day was warm and sunny. Thank goodness, the weather held for my entire trip!
Jamison picked me up, and we headed to Grand Haven. Our bags were packed in the backseat. Down the long stretches of Fillmore and US-31, we filled each other in on our day.
