Personal Narrative Everything was so dandy and swell until the day that my sister came home with a C on her report card. I always looked up to Hailey and wanted to be as smart as her until that day. Back in the 3rd grade started the chain of events that would soon shape the guarded self conscious girl I am today. Although she was in the sixth grade, I thought she was the smartest girl ever. My mother never went to college and she has dyslexia, she was the only female I knew older than me that I looked up to. We never really had a lot of money so we’d go without a lot of stuff. I had never seen her cry like this. She explained to me that she was scared of our step dad and ran to the only safe place she knew at the time. I, being a little nine year old, didn’t know any better than to love my step dad. He had never done anything wrong to me,but she despised him. We went to bed and I thought nothing of it. The next morning I woke up and everyone was still quiet, I got ready for school and went along my way. When I got to school I got called out into the commons area to speak with my teacher. I was horrified, I thought I was in trouble. Our counselor was out there and kept asking me questions about my step dad. I didn’t lie, I told them what he used to do and how he is. She sent me back to class and I didn’t think about it until I got home. When I got off the bus I stopped at my neighbors to play with their dog for a few minutes like I did everyday, but when I got home my step dad wasn’t home. He was always home when I got out of school so I was confused. Hailey was at cross country practice so I was home alone and scared. My mom got off at five so I waited until she got home to ask her what was going on. When she got home she made me go with her pick up Hailey from practice and then she said we had to go somewhere.
