America’s Gift to My Generation It is great to wake up every morning knowing my life is entirely up to me. We live in the great United States of America. Being an American means I have so many rights and doors are opened up to opportunities other countries do not have. America has given me the right to choose whatever education and profession I want. America has given my generation many gifts. In this great country, we have the freedom of speech and religion. We have the right to state our opinions and peacefully protest what we do not agree with. We have the right to believe in and worship what we wish. We are not limited to just one or two religions. Other countries don’t have this right and are persecuted. People want to dwell on

Moving to the United States is a huge step for an immigrant. As an international student, I have been passing through this event that most Brazilian desire to. However, it is hard to adapt with the new culture and lifestyle, knowing that I have my own values. The “Two Ways to Belong in America” illustrates two views of getting used with this new culture, in which I identified myself with one of these ways: my nationality cannot be change with a simple paper called green card. Thus, starting a new life in a foreign country is tough because I have to find a way to readjust to this new culture, not ignoring
To me being an American means getting to live my life freely. I get to grow up and go to school, I get to follow whatever religion I want to, I get to work in whatever job I want to, and I get to vote for who I think deserves to be the president of our country however I want to. Being an American means that we are all free to express our opinions on anything. So many people come to the United States of America so that they can be able to say that they are living the “American Dream.” The American Dream is defined as; the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative.
In conclusion, I am proud to be an American because of the opportunities everyone is given, including myself. We are a special country, and should be proud of who we are, despite all the negative
America’s greatest gifts to my generation in my thoughts, are freedom, internet access, and jobs. These are only some of the things that this generation are available to.We have been given the opportunities that people would have wished to have.Even so, some people take those chances, and abuse them. Here is why I chose these three opportunities.
“Do you like your job mom?” My son Matthew asks me casually looking up at me from his wooden desk chair. I’m working on cooking our family dinner and he’s currently working on a 10th grade essay, where he describes what he wants to become when he grows up. I always have thought that term “growing up” was funny, because through everything I certainly never have. I smiled down at him and answered “Yes, Matthew, I love it very much.” “Can I interview you about it please, it’s part of the assignment?” he replied. I nod and make my way over to the matching desk chair and sit down. “Just answer my questions about your job” He said. “Wait Matt, don’t you have to write this down?” “UGH mom this isn’t 2016, no one writes anymore. Gosh. My IPhone 17
America has gifted my generation many gifts, including freedom, free education, and the bravest of them all, the veterans of U.S. America has provided many jobs and opportunities; however many places don’t have the opportunities America does. I’m very proud of what America has become. All over the world, America is known as the land of the free, and this gift and many others make America the land I love.
In class we watched a video over a very opinionated male who explained the reason why America is not great. I have a lot of respect for this man and I think that he brought up some extremely valid points that I have never thought about. What I mainly want to touch on is the fact that he accused my generation of being apathetic. He basic says that we could care less and are lazy good for nothings. The best response I can think of is, look at who raised us. Now, I am not saying that it is entirely our parents fault or their parents fault for the reason why teenagers do not care about school, grades, or the world. I am just saying that it is unfair to put the entire blame on my generation saying that we are the reason why the America is not great. He makes it seem that as soon as my
Some people may be confused in what responsibility even means. Does it mean be nice, make good decisions, and do what you're told? I've been taught many responsibilities throughout my life and the most important one is to try my hardest to walk in the light of Jesus. To do this I try to learn from my mistakes, treat others the way I want to be treated. Whenever I get the opportunity I bring God into the subject to try to show every one what a loving and caring father he his no matter how many mistakes you've made. I want people to know that no matter what they do or say to me, I will never deny my beliefs for God I will always shine my light and try to impact as many lives as I can. We are one Nation under God and I believe that's our responsibility to keep it that way.
It’s been 2 years, 35 days and 22 minutes, and I’m still peeking through the dismal, damped window to just have a look at my family. Though years have passed but I still see my mother stepping out of the door every morning with the hope that her daughter Selina Dimp, would arrive. If only she knew that our separation would result to her survival, the urge and temptation to step in my house, smell the aroma of my ever favorite lasagna, tease little Jason and be in the arms of my mother has grown extremely more. No matter how many years have passed but the plague is still out there on our streets, infecting every person I love , my own brother and my entire Nation. As always, the newsboard flashes “The Republic of America war against the Democratic of America is still in progress” , the same old news by the government but for the first time it shows something that gives me a leap of faith for a second. The
America is a country of hope, but it is also a country of disappointment. Many people move here looking for a better future and a greater life, only to be surprise that it doesn't come easily. My parents are the reason why I moved out here to America thought is a better place to live and start a new life and of course it's true but through so many ways. America is where you can meet so many different types of people, yet all moving toward the same hope and dreaming to be an “America.”
Growing up in Ghana, I had heard a lot of things about the U.S. This was a country I had always wanted to visit; my prayer was answered when I got the opportunity to travel there. Arriving in a new environment came with many experiences. Adjusting with food, language and the weather was not easy. With the passage of time, however I have been able to0 adjust and fit it. This write-up therefore is to elaborate on my experiences since coming to U.S.
When I think of the American Identity I think of who we are as a country. From day one we have been fighters and just trying to make this a better place than we found it. Still today we are fighting, not only trying to help our country but to also help our neighbors in need. If you are being kicked out of your own home, out of your country America will bring you in, If you are hungry America will feed you, If you want a future America will educate you. This is the land that will give you a chance in life, to do or be something amazing. If you can’t see that then open your eyes because it is all right in front of you.
Grand cars drive down our street. Radios are now practically in every home and play news and stories for families to listen to. Homes are stocked with new appliances, the latest technologies. Some may say that our great country has reached a golden age of prosperity and wealth. However, take a look from a different perspective, and you’ll see that this isn’t the case. America is not the land of the free. Technology may have advanced, but socially, we’ve remained stagnant. Some of our citizens are still shackled by the ties of racial and sexual inequality, and freedom is something they long desperately to grasp.
Studying in a foreign country is an interesting experience of an individual lifetime. One tends to learn a number of things relating to ways of life in a foreign land. Social, political and economic values and aspects are usually different from one region to another. Therefore, through studying abroad one is able to learn different issues about another society such as gender and sexuality issues, social class and race/ethnicity issues. Having come from a developing country studying in the U.S.A has been a great experience personally. This paper will attempt to provide a reflection of my personal experience on studying in the U.S by comparing the history of Angola and the U.S.
