I was born and raised in Vietnam at the years 1987, and my generation is a generation Y which is between 1981 and 2000. The generation Y is the most challenger generation because it is the generation right after the war end. Since I was born, I have been taught to be responsible with the family, archive the highest education, and completion with the other. Those make me feel that I can control the world and me feel that I am the best because my family lay a lot of hope and expectation on me. Most of people even my parent are baby boomers. However, they were born in during the Vietnamese War. My grandfather was a traffic officer service for supportive government, and my grandmother was a salesman in the supermarket. They both have 11 children
A member of Generation X, although there is no definitive evidence of an exact date, was most likely born between the years of 1965 and 1984. Prior to us beginning to understand some of the stereotypes that are used in reference to Generation X, we must first know some of the events that took place that helped shaped this generation. One of the most significant events that took a toll on the American people during this time period is the Vietnam War. Many American people were at first supportive of the United States entering the war in Vietnam, however once it became visible that this wouldn’t be an “in and out” operation the views quickly began to turn. In prior wars, battles were fought against a uniformed enemy that was easily identifiable, however the war in
The generation Y group was born between 1982 and 2000 (Huggins, 2008). This generation grew up with the internet, and relies heavily on instant communications through use of cell phones, text messages and social networking sites (Huggins, 2008). Their communication style is instant using technology all the time, and much less formal than previous generations.
A generation can be defined as the period, cohort or age of a group of people. Age is seen as the age that the persons were when particular transitions or events in life take place. Period can be defined as the overall experience of a person’s lifetime. Lastly, cohort can be seen as the overall grouping of people who have shared events during their formative years that more than likely contribute to like-minded behavior throughout the duration of their lives. There are currently four generations in United States society: Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X and The Millennials. The silent generation was born between the years of 1930 and 1945. Significant events during this time period include but are not limited to World War II and the Great Depression. The baby boomer generation was born between the years of 1946 and 1964. Significant events for this generation include the substantial growth of the middle class as well as economic prosperity. Generation X is born in the time period of 1965-1979, this generation was brought together by the big energy issue as well as the Vietnam War. Lastly the final generation that is currently in the workforce are the Millennials. This generation was born between the years 1980 and 2001, this group is brought together by the 9/11 terrorist attacks as well as the internet
This generation also helped to establish family values and their model of living has been cast against other cultures around the world in this researchers opinion. Moving forward to the next generation which is referred to as the Baby Boomers, this is the generation that was born between 1943 and 1960 as noted by Zemke et al.(2013). This generation has been characterized as the first generation that came about when child rearing was a hobby and pleasure as opposed to an economic necessity. I am sure this was intended to be a positive but it warrants further investigating.
Over 70 years has passed since the end of World War II, and since that time our society has seen 4 generations transition into the next on a bridge scarcely understood by those preceding or following them. These cohorts are known in their chronological order as The Baby Boomers (born 1946 – 1965), Generation X (born 1965 – 1981), The Millennials (1981 – 1994), and now The Centennials (born 1994 – early 2000s), or Generation Z, a group whose exact demographics are still largely undefined. The disparity between the Millennials and their postwar predecessors, The Baby Boomers, can be noted by studying characteristics of each generation, and how the socioeconomic factors surrounding war and technology have shaped them. While their basic needs and core similarities are innately human, objectively speaking, their views, biases and outlooks have most certainly been impacted by the events and advancements of their time.
One thing i've noticed that reminds me of us right now is a strong sense of Patriotism and morals. Everybody I know would go to war to defend human rights and world peace, it's all part of a greater goal, I just don't think my generation has had a chance to prove it yet. As of right now I vow to work for my goals and not expect hand outs like my grandfather's generation. That will put me ahead of my generation and hopefully they will
Baby boomers were raised during the time period where success was attainable due to a strong financial foundation which allowed for financial and personal success that we might never experience again in the United States. This makes you want to go into a deep depressive state because this is what we want and want our children to have. History.com states that Baby Boomers are those who were born from 1946-1964 which made up 40% of the population. This is a scary to imagine because we only have 62.9% of the community in the workforce and that will decline as baby boomers retire. http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS11300000 Earlier this week we read the article, “Aging in the United States – Past, Present, Future” which discussed the pyramid to
As the generation of babies born after World War II are known as the baby boomers, my generation will likely still be referred to as the millennials. This is due to many of us being born around the turn of the millennium. However, my generation was also the first to have modern technology interrogated into our academics, vehicles, and all other aspects of our personal lives.
Every person belongs to a generation: you associate yourselves with a particular set of people usually based on age such as “Baby Boomers” from 1946 to 1964, “Generation X” from 1965 to 1979, and “Millennials” from 1980 to 2000, (Smola, 364). Parents’ generations differ from their children, and sometimes within their significant other. My parents, separated by two years, are both considered “Baby Boomers”, and my sister and I, also separated by two years are both considered “Millennials”. “Generation X” separates our generations, and as you can assume there are many differences between the two: “Baby Boomers” experienced the immense development of the economy and education (Kupperschmidt, 4).
To begin with, let me tell you a little bit about my generation. We are the generations that zd6was born between the late 1970s and the mid-1990s. The “Gen Y” has we are call, was raise by the “baby boomers” our parents’ generation.
Baby Boomer: People in this generational group were born between 1946 and 1964. They value individuality and are driven to win. Unlike the traditionalist, they do not have the same knee jerk respect for authority (WMFC, 2016).
According to my year of birth, I belong to Generation Z (after 1996). I do feel like I am a part of this generation. The first reason is I got to know how to use the Internet since I was in first grade to download games and to read manga. The second reason is my elementary school required each student to pass computer science class in order to get to higher level class. Lastly, I know how to use computer well. I was born outside of the United States, and the generation boundaries seems accurate to me and my generation as well. Even though I was born in Vietnam, a country that has less developed technologies than the United States, and from what I have experienced, the generational boundaries are widely applied.
You are considered being apart of the “Millennials” generation if you were born in the years of 1981-2000. People of this generation are typically spoiled and brattish. We grew up during the War on Terrorism, 9/11, school shootings, and the introduction to social media. We are more friendly and inviting compared to the past generations. We are quicker to accept people into our groups/cliques.
One day, I'd grown tired of running the hamster wheel of a life I'd created, and I suddenly realized that I was running nowhere quick. The longer I would run, the further I would become from myself, and yet, I kept running, due to the lack of direction. In other words, I’d devoted myself to living a life according to others, rather than serving the greatness that automatically comes from inside our true-selves. Rather than moving according to my true-self, I adapted and conformed to others, which left me with no direction, confused, lost and running in circles. Therefore, causing me to ignore and run from my commitment to nourish and develop my Higher-self, the inner-spirit. Nonetheless, the more I ran from my inner-spirit the further disconnected
I am not a part of the millennial generation, I was born during the baby boomer's generation. Yet, I do have a daughter born in the millennial generation. The millennial generation was born in the time period of 1984- 2000. Now in today's workforce and society the millennial are being looked down upon for being unmotivated, lazy, and all about themselves.
