When I was seven years old, I decided to run away. My parents took away my Barbie Dreamhouse after an incident at school (which totally wasn’t my fault) landed me with a visit to the principal’s office. My bag was packed, complete with snacks and my beanie baby collection, but before I could leave the house I heard one thing that stopped me in my tracks: the sound of my mom crying. Welcome to La Push, Washington! You’ll be staying here with former agents Jacqueline and Leonard Stump. You are their 17 year old niece, adopted by Leonard’s brother Tim and his wife Layla. “She’s a blessing!” Leo exclaimed, ruffling my hair as he passed me to walk out the door. We followed him out and piled into their truck. I poked my head between their seats and said, “So give me the run down on these people. Who are they, and what do they know?”
“We’ll be at Sam and Emily’s house. Sam is pretty high ranking within the tribe, and so am I. That’s how we know each other so well-“ Leo cut her off at this point, “Don’t mind me. Just the former US marshal and current rez doctor.” She slapped his arm playfully. “Shush, you. Anyway, all they know is that you’re our niece moving in with us after your parents died. They know basic facts about your persona. You’re 17, from California, an only child, etc.” I
