At 12 years old, I would fantasize myself having the role of a parent. I was not thinking about human parenting but animal parenting. I have always been obsessed with animals; I loved spending my leisure learning about animals by watching the Animal Planet. I was incredibly fascinated by the programs that followed animals caring for their young. This influenced me to commence my endeavor.
Midst the spring of 2012, I pleaded with my mother for her approval but she continuously refused and laughed. Ultimately, I had lost all ambition and began to cry. My sobbing demonstrated to my mother that I was genuinely committed. She granted me permission and I instantly went online to purchase 15 unsexed silkie chicks from a hatchery in Missouri. They
I guess it was that moment that I knew that we were supposed to be together. When I went to fill out the adoption forms, there was a line on there that said Max was a pit bull. I laughed at my surprise. This little dog was too loveable to be a pit bull. After filling the paperwork out, they informed me that there would be a two to five day waiting period, in order for them to do a background check. They also asked me if I had a veterinarian, and I informed them that one of my good friend’s husband was a vet. I wrote down his name and phone number.
The past wasn’t pretty for the town. They weren’t always like this. Before, people could dress how they want, say what was on their mind, but most importantly they were free. They didn’t have to listen to anyone, they didn’t have to do what they were told. There were no rules.
I remember the day like it was yesterday. I just had got off the bus and I looked at my phone I saw I had 20 text and 8 missed call. I was wondering why I had so many text and calls before I could even look at them.
On 11/01/17, at approximately 4:33pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian with Franklin County Animal Care and Control was dispatched to the State Route 315 North and Rich St on a police assist. I arrived on scene at approximately 4:55pm and met with Columbus Division of Police (CPD) Officer T. Eklins #1963. CPD Eklins stated the van (green) was abandon on the side of the freeway. As CPD Officer Eklins approached the van, the side door was open and a medium mix (Black) dog barked at him. I had CPD Officer Eklins complete a police assist form. I utilized my snare pole and placed the dog in my vehicle. The dog was wearing a 2013 Dog license. I located dog owner Roger Hamby (1495 Greenleaf Rd). I requested that FCACC Dispatcher B. Grotsky try to contact dog owner. FCACC Dispatcher B. Grotsky had to leave a voice message for dog owner. I cleared from the location at approximately 5:27pm.
Since birth, my life has been very hard to understand but I've always been very open to whoever wants to know about it. On January 13, 2003 I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My parents were Anita Gomez and Billy hunt. I then moved to Georgia a while later, and then made my way to Calhoun.
I was cold, tired, hungry, and my left forepaw was twisted. It might have even been sprained. The cold rain made me shiver, and I hugged my six tails closer for warmth. Suddenly, a bright light enveloped me. I let out a yelp, and quickly hid behind a cluster of pipes.
Advertisements are used to catch multiple people's attention every day. When creating an advertisement to do just that, the advertisers must be creative and strategic by placing ethos, pathos, and logos into that advertisement. The animal adoption organizations have perfected the art of capturing people's hearts in a short period and making them feel something in themselves. When others feel that sense of emotion, they are urged to do something about the hurting animals and that benefits the animals and their organization. In the animal adoption advertisements, the organizations use the elements of emotion, the credibility of the organization, and the logical standpoint the advertisement is trying to give to make their advertisements work.
Eve?” Armani called into the small room, opening the door. Evangeline laid on a pile of blankets, their back turned to the door. “You okay?” He asked. Evangeline didn’t respond. “Well, I know what today is, and I hate to bother you like this, but there are six human newbies and they need you.” Armani said quietly.
Two years have passed since I saw that note on his pillow. Two years of misery, two years of non-stop searching, two years of unanswered questions. Sometimes I think I see him; Sitting next to an older lady on the subway, Sitting in the corner in the coffee shop, or even leaning on one of the lampposts in 5th street. But it never fails, I move to see if it’s him, hoping it’s my husband.. but it’s not. It never is, no one is in that seat, no one is leaning on the lamppost. My husband is a ghost.
"Are you sure you don't want to come babe? There are going to be games and food and everyone's going to be there. It will be fun." "Mom, I'm fine. I'll stay and finish cleaning. Go. Go have fun with your friends." I say pushing her out the front door. "Okay well, call me if you need anything. I don't think I'm going to stay that long. When I get back we can have that movie night I promised." "Have fun at the barbecue. Bye mom. I love you." Before getting into her old gray pick-up truck, she waves to me and blows me a kiss.
What does it mean to be a parent? Being a parent means putting the well-being of your family and baby's safety first at all times, and making sure that no one will harm them. In addition, it means to love unconditionally and helping your kids grow to become respectful members of society. They will also be someone who will make the best possible choices in life and are willing to come to you whenever they need help because they look up to you as their strength and guidance. But, the one thing I don’t understand is why so many parents are killing their babies at the first stage of life, just because they are not ready to become parents. Because I believe if a couple is not ready or is willing to put a baby’s life above their own, they should
Throughout life I have experienced numerous events that have shaped me into becoming the person I am to this day. Out of all these events, my adoption has been the most significant and life changing event of my life. Two weeks before my first birthday in, I was adopted from Nanchang, China. As I grew up, my parents never once tried to conceal my adoption. Without them, I believe I would have grown to be a totally different person. Although I was adopted and brought in by my adoptive parents, I see myself in the everyday. I see them as nothing less than my real parents and I aspire to be as generous and compassionate as they are. Without them, I would have never been able to experience half of the life changing events I have gone through. As
While I never in my wildest dreams thought being a veterinarian was my dream career, I believe that my enthusiasm for animals was created at a very young age through my passion for science, and eagerness to help people and animals alike. Even in elementary school, I was determined to find every way possible to help others. I jumped at every opportunity to raise money for endangered animals, through bake sales and garage sales. I read to younger children, tutored my classmates, collected canned food, I even started a club in fifth grade that collected almost 3,000 books for children in Uganda.
Ever since I was a young girl I’ve always been interested in different things. I never wanted to play with dolls or watch new cartoons. I enjoyed being outside playing with my animals or watching the Discovery channel. When I was around 6 or 7 my mom let me go to work with my grandpa in the summer. He worked at our local animal clinic here in Carrizo Springs with Dr. Taylor. Every morning I would wake up excited to spend the day working with my grandpa. He would let me help him around the clinic and show me how to take care of the dogs and cats. I would help people bring in their animals for checkups and when I was lucky I was able to watch him outside working with the bigger animals. I was young but I found it so fascinating and interesting
Female empowerment is fairly easy to come by on a daily basis now. Yet, despite the improvements that society has made in women’s rights in the last century, women still have not found equality in many parts of their lives. Through Ann Petry’s “Like a Winding Sheet” and Lucille Clifton’s “Homage to My Hips” readers are given a glimpse into the daily life of a woman. With the use of characterization, Petry and Clifton are able to present the identity and empowerment of women in entirely different perspectives.
