As The Spindle Turns: First Draft One would like to believe that gender doesn't affect your employment prospects, right? My husband came down on orders to bring us to Benning, it was time to update ye old resume. As a CNC machinist with seven years’ experience, working in both a proprietary production shop as well as a diverse job shop, I'm qualified to set up, tear down, perform program edits and run a variety of equipment. There is, however, one large disadvantage working against me in finding employment here in the lovely state of Georgia; I'm a woman. This is an apparent deal breaker for the shops that I've applied at thus far. It's evident to me, as everything goes very smooth in the application and pre-interview process, until they find out that the "S" in "S. McPherson" stands for Stephani. The joys of being a woman in a man’s world. …show more content…
I more or less fell into this job, prior to then I worked at Universal Studios Orlando as a ride attendant for the Jurassic Park River Adventure. While I loved this job, it didn’t pay enough to make ends meet. I was told of the opening at Brevard by a person that worked there, so I applied. After passing their math test, and then the regular pre-employment checks, urine analysis, back ground check, credit check and the like, I was hired. I spent five years with Brevard Robotics, learning how to operate vertical and horizontal mills along with lathes. Since this was a production shop, I was only an operator as they had machinists that would do the change overs if we needed to swap to a different part. While I learned a lot at Brevard, I wasn’t taught much about code editing, or change overs. This proved to be a hindrance when I followed my then boyfriend, now husband, to Washington
Walking away from everything you once knew and starting over is never a picnic. Leaving Iraq, and moving to America has impacted my life more than anything. I was only 4 years old at that time, and the only English I spoke was “excuse me, water please.” My family and I did not know it then, but our lives were going to change; we would become “Americanized”. Learning English was one of the massive changes that occurred, the way I dressed (culture), and even the way I had power to go to school and educate myself.
On June 4, I died. Well, metaphorically speaking. Let me rephrase that— I was reborn.
Throughout the conversation, Susan did not inform me that the home was still in First Look and not open to investors at this time. Susan did not highlight any features of the home, nor did she talk about the neighborhood or the surrounding area. When asked, Susan paused to reference the property file and stated, "In looking at the pictures it appears that it needs interior paint, carpet, appliances, and a few windows, which the previous seller must have taken." She stated, "I don't know why they have to remove things from the homes." I asked, "Do you have offers?" She paused to check the property file and answered, "No offers." I asked, "Is the property behind the home farmland?" She paused to reference the property file and replied, "It appears
He knew it was going to be a no excuses to lose to weather and it was going to be a good day for fans to watch football tonight. He had met with Kyle Cannon who was the quarterback for the team and a running back on the team named Dion Gordon;
This little scene was written as a response to a fanfic meme where NN wished for a scene with the Master, River Song and spanking and FF River Song and something kinky. In effect this is a missing scene from Sliding Down the Razorblades of Life and follows directly after the second chapter, Mid-Term. However, you don’t have to read the fic, just keep in mind that the Master has just told River that if she slaps him one more time she will get a good spanking. Guess what her response to that is?

It was the first time I was going to drive. My dad stopped on the gravel and said,”Drive to the house.” I hopped into the driver's seat and tried moving the gear shift. “Um, dad it's not moving,” I said. He responded with,”Son you have to put your foot on the break to move the gear shift.” I set my foot on the break the threw the gear shift into drive. I stepped on the gas pedal and the car took off. The whole way to the house it was like a stop and go sort of thing. I was really scared to hit the gas pedal because I was afraid it was going to go way too fast. Also, The car was so touchy! Every time I would give it a little gas the car would rev up its engine. As the car went down the hill I had my foot on break the whole time. Every time I
When you first walk into the Hornets Nest the first thing you see is one of the friendly crew member there to swipe your hornet card. Then you smell the freshly stoned cooked pizza and nearby you can see some choices on pasta. I normally don’t the eat pizza. Honestly the pizza is not as good as it smells. I haven’t touch the pasta once because I avoid the pizza so I forget that there’s more than pizza.
Although I have not thought about how I would stage a play I will give myself a chance to thinking thoroughly about how I would want an audience to receive a piece of work written by the four playwrights we have read this semester. Drawing on Wilson’s famous speech, I have an idea about what I would want. The Ground on Which I Stand is one that acknowledges the amazing playwrights we were able to read this semester. I appreciate what they have given to the world through the stage and in print. There have been plays that I resonated with me and some that were harder to grasp. Many of these playwrights talk about connections and family which is a way that I have connected with the characters. I wouldn't use many of the playwrights as influences
Have you ever been so desperate for something that you modify your motive in its entirety? Throughout my life I’ve found myself placed in this frightening situation multiple times; the most confusing of which would be what I’ve endured this year. People in their 20s have it rough. We’re old enough to feel like we’re supposed to know what we’re doing, yet young enough to roll in the tide aimlessly and clueless and it still be acceptable. Then there’s those of us who believe we’ve got it all figured out only to be proven tremendously wrong. I have learned, however, that being tremendously wrong can lead you right where you need to be.
I have been in the Marine Corps for roughly three and a half years and throughout that time I have done many things. Most of the things that I have done were with Combat Logistics Battalion 26. For three years, I worked with that unit through work ups and a deployment and I have seen and done many unique things. However, nothing I did with CLB 26 felt fulfilling, but that all changed when I changed units to CLB 8.
culture. As a business student, I am no less influenced by money than the next
My dad and I have always loved playing basketball together. Not only do we enjoy playing the sport, we are also avid fans, especially of the Xavier Musketeers. The court (our driveway), is where we have the most fun competing against each other. I remember one game especially well. “Make it-take it or horse?” my dad asked. “Make it-take it!” I responded. Those were always our favorite options, but I’m partial to one on one, make it take it. I was about 10 years old at the time and had managed to keep the game tied at 14 points. I had the ball with only 6 points to go. I was determined to get a quick layup, mainly because I knew I couldn’t lose the momentum which was so crucial in make it-take it. Despite my effort driving to the basket, I missed and he rebounded the ball. He retreated and shot a three. As I had feared, he made it easily. The score was 17-14, his ball again. I could feel the game slipping away from my control and played my best defense. I checked the ball back to him and right as it touched his hands, it left his hands. He shot a three from the same exact spot, with the same exact outcome, a perfect swoosh. I had lost. “Play again?” I
Sometimes juggling work, school, and family can be quite a hastle. Thirty five hours a week of work, four classes, and and big family can be a lot for me to juggle sometimes. I try to prioritize my time the best I can but sometimes everything doesn’t go as planned.
