Every year during the summer, my friends and I travel to Manchester, TN. What is in Manchester, TN one might ask? A 700 acre farm solely kept beautiful for us and another 80,000 people from across the nation. We camp four days on this farm and revel in the several amounts of activities, music, and art. This event is called Bonnaroo Music Festival, which holds a big place in my heart. On the farm, I felt a part of a community and a family. The Farm, and or Bonnaroo Music Festival has changed my life as well as my perspective because I feel free to express myself, free to enjoy an array of cultures as well as music and food, and appreciate everyone’s uniqueness. Therefore, I would hope everyone could try to experience Bonnaroo, and experience what I have on the farm someday.

Thus, my first experience in the festival changed how I am because of that message and the fact that people on the farm clearly follow that way of thinking and being. It resonated with me on a monumental scale that I knew that this is how I should be outside of the farm. The everyday people that volunteer, who are incredibly important to how the festival functions, are what makes the festival feel genuine. When entering the festival, I would receive endless and nonstop high fives, smiles, and laughs from volunteers to the festival-goers. Once I am inside of what Bonnaroo calls “Centeroo” I notice everyone’s willingness to be themselves, from dancing and dressing how they please. In that, being on the farm assured me that I could do that as well, and I did. Everyone has such different faces and different ways of expressing who they are that I could not help but smile. Whenever I could, I walked around barefoot. On that Thursday, which is the first day when the festival opens, the grass on the farm is silky between my toes. For that reason, my friends and I had the option of taking a cool nap
During September the year 2014, my family and I took a 2 day trip to Dollywood. I was just eight years old at the time. That drive took us 12 long hours long because of car problems. Finally at 10 o'clock at night, we sluggishly dragged our extremely tired selves into the comfort of our soft beds in the hotel. The next morning, we drove over to the park and just past the entrance was a special place where you can get measured and given a color coded bracelet that would let you and others know what rides you were tall enough to ride. I was so excited because I was finally tall enough to get an orange bracelet, which meant I could ride most of the rides. After riding the smaller rides with my younger siblings, my mom wanted to take me on a
The reason I have chosen this mix of words is because people listen to the music, enjoy the time they experience at the festival, laugh at the good times they have and hopefully love it so they will return! This statement positions the event as having a fun loving, carefree atmosphere that people will enjoy.
Have you ever expected an unfavorable outcome from an experience, yet were shocked with the best? Nashville, Tennessee is the city where I was able to realize that I have the potential to do great things with my life. It was the middle of June at the 2016 HOSA International Leadership Conference, and I was sixteen years old. At this time, I had been dealing with anxiety and depression for so long that I never thought I would be able to make an accomplishment that meant something to others and myself. This trip helped me realize that I am capable of more than I think.
During March of 2015, the most exciting thing had happened to me and my family. One of my favorite times of the year, the stock show season. A tremendous amount of time is taken to perfect our stock, it is something we take a great deal of pride in doing. My family and I wait all year for this time to come and it had finally arrived!
“Dallas is an amazing city, so I hope that when people come here they don’t see this as the Wild Wild West in terms as the cowboy stereotype,” King said. Hopefully this festival will achieve just that, for people from all over the world have expressed interest in Dallas, and this festival gives incentive for tourists and Dallasites to explore the
Since I was raised in a small, country town in Oklahoma I definitely heard my fair share of country music. For the most part I wasn’t a fan of mainstream country music because it all sounded very similar, in my opinion. I found Blue Grass music or more Folk inspired country music to be more interesting. But when I was offered the opportunity to attend a Jason Aldean concert with a few friends this semester I didn’t want to miss out. I knew what to expect going to a Jason Aldean concert and that was a lot of boots and a lot of pearl snaps, and I was definitely correct. Jason was in Oklahoma on February 5th for his “We Were Here” tour. I had never been to a country music concert before and was looking forward to the new experience.
On this somewhat rainy weekend, nearly 500,000 people came together for the largest music festival of its time on a dairy farm in Bethel, New York, and was simply known as Woodstock. The festival included 32 acts and was “widely considered to be the definitive nexus for the larger counterculture generation”. This was a weekend in which peace and acceptance throughout the country was celebrated and communicated through love and music, just like during the Watts and Altamont music festival. The man who owned the dairy farm even mentioned that “the near half million group of young people that came to Woodstock proved to the world that they can get together for fun and music, nothing but fun and
This year’s family vacation was one for the books. With my aunt living in Tennessee, we do not get together as often as we would like so my family decided to go to Nashville, Tennessee. When we started our trip, it was 6 a.m. and it was nothing short of fun and laughter along the way. Never having been to Tennessee before, I figured I’d enjoy the eight-hour ride of sight-seeing and laughter with my family. When we were a few miles into the trip, the mountains of Georgia were breathtaking. While I was enjoying the scenery, another thing that I found enjoyable about this trip was the conversation that I had with my family. We went on talking about life in general, all the struggles, and childhood memories that we had. We even talked about years
How does an oasis of green land, with little to no human interaction, transform into an environment filled with laughter, conversation, and a good ole southern fun time? This scenery can be seen every home game in and around the University of Mississippi`s Grove. The Grove is unmatched when compared to any other collegiate sporting event, because it brings together people of different races, political and religious affiliations, economic status, and sexual orientation, with an emphasis on having a good time. No matter if the Ole Miss Rebels football team wins or loses the game, there is always a winning atmosphere in the Grove. The University of Mississippi`s Grove has evolved into a cornerstone for growing racial diversity, because of its
The festival which already receives funding from major companies, can seek out new music focused company sponsorship's that will provide aid for the costs of the concerts. The last opportunity for the festival includes the role it can provide in educating the local youth about local cultural music, theater, and arts. Many may grow up to have a strong appreciation towards their own communities’ festival.
Initial Preview: Throughout this speech you will learn about the birth and development of the modern music festival, how they have transformed, and why they have.
John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld, and Mike Lang were the minds behind the creation of these “Three Days of Peace and Music”, the oldest of which was only 27. This festival, and all the music played during this time, was extremely influential. Americans at this time needed a weekend of peace, for tension was high. At this time Nixon was threatening to bomb North Vietnam, over 35,000 U.S. military personnel have died in the line of duty, and communism was terrifyingly close to America. Friends and family were overseas, and this music festival was a way to spread the idea of peace and love through a medium that was understood by all: music. This festival would not have occurred if it was not for the high tensions and influence of countureculture through popular music at the time.
Everyone, one time or another has been on a bad date or two, but when I look back, it is really my fault for being that stupid to go on a second date with him in the first place. As cute as one would think taking a guy to a country concert would be; taking cute pictures with him and getting to ride in a truck, make sure the guy is not flipping crazy. When you are trying to have a good time, and go to a concert do not invite boys who are clingy and childish because they will get butt hurt and throw your keys out their window. Do not be like me. Do not be the girl standing at the Florida fair grounds looking for her keys in the road at 1 in the morning. This is one of those stories that you think would suck now, but we could look back on in 10 years and laugh, well it has been 2 months and I’m still not laughing.
The Woodstock festival descended on Bethel, New York promising three days of peace and music. Event organizers anticipated 15,000 people would attend but were overwhelmed by the 300,000 people that flooded this rural area of New York state from August 15 -17, 1969. While these facts are well known and indisputable, the festival itself has proven to be a controversial endeavor. What began as a small business venture was soon brimming with the controversy of an entire decade. It becomes clear when examining the strikingly different accounts of the festival that reactions varied depending on the fundamental values and personal circumstances specific to each observer and to the
Concerts contain so many sensations. The white chairs being put away, the stage getting placed back on the big black trailer piece by piece, and the quiet shuffles of the last feet leave the stadium; the stadium transforms into the purple and white stadium it once was, leaving no
