Let's start back when he started having his early stages of his complications. Something that he loved to do during the summer, was to take us camping at Joe Pool Lake for the weekend. Whenever we would go camping, he would also bring our pontoon boat with us to either go swim out on the lake, go tubing, or go fishing. This day was different though, he didn't seem like himself at all. Some of my mom's friends came out to the campsite, so we were all wanting to go out on the boat, and usually he is the first one to ask us if we want to go out on the lake, but he was nowhere to be found. My mom went into our camper, where he was laying down in bed, and asked "Do you want to take the boat out on to the lake with us?" He said "No, I'm not feeling good. My stomach hurts, but you all can take the keys and go." When he said this, we didn't think much about it because stomach aches and pains can be a normal thing that can come and go. Well little did we know, this was just the beginning of the most terrifying and tragic journey that we have gone through. We proceeded to take the boat, …show more content…
It was the first week of school, everything was going fantastic. In fact, we were actually planning on having a party that first weekend of school, for the Connor Mcgregor vs. Floyd Mayweather fight. Things took a drastic turn when one day, after school, my older brother and I were in his truck coming home from school. All of a sudden, our mom called my brother and said "Big David is in the hospital so I'm not going to be home until later tonight." We were confused and didn't know what to do, so we continued to head home. Later on, after we got home, we found out that he was having horrible stomach pains at work and he was rushed to the hospital. The weekend came and we still had our party, he didn't want us to miss having the party because of him, so since we weren't going to be with him that night, we brought food to him before the
It was the winter of 2009, my siblings and I went to go play in the snow. We went to the backyard, and in order to go to the backyard we had to jump the fence. We were having a great time; we made a snow fort, had a snowball fight, but when we were playing tag my brother tripped and twisted his ankle. We were going to take him back inside so we were about to leave but, he couldn’t climb over the fence and it was buried in the snow so we couldn’t move it. My friend Caleb, and his sister heard and we tried to move the fence together. Eventually they gave up, and went back home because their mom was calling them. Which made me kind of angry, but I realized that ninety five percent of friends don’t have that bond that family does. We stayed with
During the summer before my Freshman year I went to hell and back, and by hell I mean Philmont scout ranch. Just a little background, Philmont scout ranch is 140,117 thousand acres of big rugged, dry, mountainous terrain. I knew what I was getting into, Ever since I joined boy scouts Philmont was regarded as the ultimate scouting experience, so of course i was pressured into that. Eventually summer rolled around and before I knew it I was on a train to New Mexico.
It's about a four hour car ride to Devil’s Lake, North Dakota where we stay. The first three hours are the worst, I'm so anxious and so excited to start hunting the next day it's almost unbearable. But the last hour or so are better because, as we enter North Dakota we start driving by little potholes and lakes that are full of ducks which just gets me pumped and more anxious for the next morning. We camp about 10 minutes out of the town of Devils Lake down a long, windy, partly flooded dirt road at an old farmer’s land on the edge of a lake. This time is the worst, we have to set up camp. We set up our camper and our family friends camper, but the whole time I'm not focused. All I can think about is waking up at 5:00 A.M to go shoot some
For two years I worked as a camp counselor for the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA). In this time, I have worked day camps, inclusion camps, social program,s and even an overnight camp for children, teens, and adults with special needs. My responsibilities were to plan crafts and activities that were inclusive to the various needs and abilities of the campers. Most of all, being a camp counselor meant creating a safe and fun environment for each
My preschool years I started off at a school called Lake Rim in Hope Mills, North Carolina. My teacher's name was Mrs.Keller and we were all little kids so we thought she was scary because her name was so close to killer. By the second day we realized that she was a very compassionate and nice teacher after giving us candy for every math problem we got right. I didn't go to Lake Rim for long because I think we were two months into the school year and as I was getting out of the reading tub one day a kid named Jermaine. He had just got done at the math section before running across the classroom screaming and as I turned around to get out of the tub he superman kicked me in the face and I flew back into the tub. Mrs.Keller quickly came over to see if I was alright and took me to the guidance office because I had a bloody nose and a boot mark on my face.
Later that day we went to visit him in the Oklahoma Sooners pediatrics hospital and he stayed in the hospital for the rest of his spring break. He went under two different tests an EEG and an MRI. Needless to say when I saw that he was awake and he was able to come back to his senses the whole weight of the world was lifted off of my shoulders. I was trying to be optimistic about it and I kept telling myself he was going to overcome this. I remember just listening to the sirens of the ambulance as they rode off to the hospital I wouldn’t eat until he woke up and he didn’t wake up until about 5:14 in the afternoon.
I live in a small town that goes by the name of Lafayette. The population is 4,500. Everyone knows where everything is, when everything is, and what everything is. As a child, my mother and I would go to a beautiful waterfall on a small back road when the sun was shining, when the trees and rocks were just right, and when it was damp and perfect for four wheeler rides. The Union Camp waterfall is majestic. The scenery makes a person speechless. We would always go when the weather was perfect. The waterfall is one childhood memory I will always remember. The activities my mother and I would do were always a blast. My trips to Union Camp waterfall are memorable because of the scenery, the weather, and the activities.
It was a hot summer day on Lake Logan Martin, perfect for taking out the jet skis with my best friend Jake. We were showing off and trying to impress some hot girls on a pontoon when all the sudden, Jakes jet ski went flying upside down through the air like a drunk pelican. Before I knew it, all I could see was the bright orange and yellow colors of his jet ski zooming by my head, and Jake hit the water head first causing water to splash all over my face. I rushed over to where his jet ski landed and I was sure he was dead. I dove into the lake and grabbed him, he felt lifeless as I drug him to the surface. A patrol boat sped up to us and helped pull him on the boat. Thankfully he just suffered from a broken clavicle and a broken arm but it
I also wrote about "Once More to the Lake", but I enjoy long descriptive sentences. When you read your chosen sentence, did it give you a feeling or, bring you back to a moment in your past? When I read that sentence, it brings me back to laying on the beach smelling the the salty air and listening to the
Hannah is a twenty year old girl from Egan. For the past 3 years she has spent her summers at a bible camp up north called Trout Lake Camps. The first time Hannah stepped foot at the camp she didn’t want to go. She spent the school year there working in the office. But now the thought of not stepping foot there makes her think about all the good times and bad times she had. From sleeping in chapel or getting stuck in a canoe, she can’t help but be thankful for being forced to go there.
Just this past summer, under the hot, and sticky sun, we pushed our car to the limit, on our 1,000 mile journey to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, although in actuality we might have pushed our fears to the absolute limit. Flipping through the Colorado vacation brochure proved to have posed some interesting vacation destinations, such as "Big Bear Lake" and Trail Ridge Road. With the intent to get high in the sky, our family headed out the next morning to Trail Ridge Road, which is a road that takes you up to a staggering height of 12,000 feet. Although optimistic, we imagined of the vast fields of green, the glacier-topped mountains, and the valleys that undertake the them. As we climbed up to the peak, it seemed apparent that there
Chirp! That is a sound often heard in the wilderness, while camping. This outdoor activity is enjoyable for many reasons.
Hidden away in Lake Powell, Arizona, is Lone Rock Canyon, a blue diamond in the desert. Go on a paddle boarding adventure, and experience beautiful contrasts of stark desert rocks and crystal blue water. Along the way, step on the shores for a hike, watch the bighorn sheep and enjoy the breathtaking views. After a dip in the cool clear water, you will head home feeling amazed by your memorable
A couple of years ago, my brothers and me were home alone. See, this story is already off to a bad start. Anyway, things were going excellent. Lane, my little brother, was upstairs watching TV and me and my older brother, Jacob, were down stairs. Then the pizza man showed up and everything came crashing down. By everything, I mean Lane and by down, I mean loud and screaming. The pizza man seemed absent-minded and I don’t think he realized we were home alone. Casually, Jacob paid the guy, took the pizza, and closed the door behind him. We tore that pizza apart like it was wrapping paper on a Christmas present.
I got out of school full of joy because it was Friday and we were going camping that evening. My sister picked me up, which was a little weird, but she is 34 and has picked me up from school before. On the way to my house, where my sister would drop me off, I was talking to my niece about her ballet recital that was happening in a couple of days. When we got home, my mom’s car wasn’t in the driveway, which is really strange since we get out of school at 2:30, and my mom gets off work at 2:00. I walked inside, set all my stuff down, and went to the basement to play with my nephew and niece. A few moments later my sister called us all upstairs, and said “We have to go, Josh is hurt.”
