One fall day in October, I decided to clean the attic. The attic was starting to get full so I thought it was time to clean it out. As I was cleaning it out I found some dead rats and mice. There were a lot of boxes but one of them stood out. In the old box was a mask. I lifted the mask from the box and admired its beauty. I feel like the mask was a magical mask. I feel like it would bring good things to me. The colors are amazing red, blue, green, yellow, purple, orange, gray, and pink. All the colors make it look and feel magical. I felt different as I slowly put the wooden mask over my face. When i peered through the eyes of the mask, I felt happy, and somewhat evil. I felt like I could fly and look at the future
the mask I chose was created by Marine Gunnery Sgt. Aaron Tam (Ret.) Iraq 2004-05, 2007-08. This mask is almost angelic in the shape of the face, there are tiny pieces of shiny metal sticking out of under both the eye holes, one side over the eye holes is opening into what looks like the brain, a part of the mask is held together by one of these shiny pieces of metal. There is a somber facial expression and flesh tone skin color, the texture of the mask is what seems to be paper mache. This mask spoke to me because it gave me a visual of the pain that the creator may have experienced in battle but also the pain he is now experiencing mentality.
My contrasting mask was Creon. This masks opposes Antigone´s, and is full of darker colors, scary features, and words with a negative connotation. The dark colors are for his control, and love for power. Creon´s picture in my mind is a very scary person, therefore skulls and fire were included on this mask. Words such as control and power were added as well. Creon had all the wrong ideas about ruling a kingdom, for he was controlling and
On Monday 6/29/2015 Sgt. Alexander and I was dispatched to the Hostess House located at 6741 Highway 70 in reference to 2 subject, Mr. Burnette and Mr. Jacobs that were renting room 251 and had outstanding warrants.
This mask holds back all the sorrow, protects you from being further destroyed by others words or actions, and covers up the real extreme problems people are facing such as suicide and drug overdose. Both texts use these “masks” metaphorically to show how the people protect themselves.
There once was a boy named leafy who loved riding his bike. one day he was riding around and out of nowhere he hit a penny on the ground while he was braking. It made the back tire slide out and he fell. When he got back up he noticed that the penny was face up. He put it in his pocket and kept riding. As he turned the corner to his house he heard a noise as he looked back before he could see it there was a crow chasing him. he pedaled as fast as he could then an ally came. he crossed without looking and BOOM! Leafy was hit by a car. Leafy died in the hospital the next day. The next Friday was his funeral. when they were done they got to carrying the coffin. when they were carrying the coffin they said they could hear something but they thought
French. Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa.” (Soto pg. 17). After French class Teresa comes up to Victor and asks him to tutor her in French. This shows me that he masked his inner feelings and that gave him the perfect opportunity to talk to Teresa seriously. Charles by Shirley Temple is another example of a mask getting us out of a bad situation. Laurie escapes punishment by telling his mom and dad that a boy got into trouble and the whole class stayed with him. (Temple pg.8) Laurie used his bad manners at school and then disguised them with a mask at home. People may say that masks put us in bad situations. That's true but masks are more beneficial than harmful in many
The Festival return to Greenfield, MA after being in Turner Fall, MA for a couple of years. I had never been in the Art Block, but found one of their stages The Wheelhouse one to be inmate setting like you what you might find in a coffeehouse. I heard Julia Cira sing on that stage and she had a beautiful voice. One that I like much better than Rosie Porter. It's just a good one to have for ballads. Its a strong one. She plays an electric guitar as well as sings. She was accommodate by a man on drum set and another young woman on an electric guitar. That woman played it well. I listen to her sing a couple of songs and she sang beautifully each time. According to her, They were doing full on rock songs and they sound like very nice quality
One morning, i was in 6th grade, my sister and I wake up, and we are home alone. We heard large noises on the porch. We went to go peek through the curtain, and there was a man lying on our porch. I called the neighbors, and we both hopped the fence and they let us in. The cops had then been called, while the stranger was still on our porch. The cops arrive and get the stranger and his information. The following day, we found out the man was on probation. The significance of this day, was the neighbors, that we are good friends with, helped us out in the moment of panic, and my sister and I not knowing what to do. Transformation that created fear of this day, was when we were home alone getting ready for school around 10:30, and then having a stranger at my doorstep. Also, not knowing what to do at that one moment of panic at time.
I chose the topic of this mask, based off the boys improper and confused relationship with Piggy. The theme of this mask, is discrimination. It stood out to me how unfair the boys treat Piggy, they view Piggy as powerless and having no sense of command. It also felt like the boys are confused with Piggy, because of his superego personality. He was raised by adults, and acts like one. This makes Piggy hard to relate with the boys and often leaves them frustated and confused. I feel like everyone once had a time in their life where they felt mistreated, and not having a opportunity to express their point of view. Therefore, we feel meaningless along with neglected, and are overpowered by a group of people which we simply can not overcome.
Different people put on a different mask depending on what “part” they are playing . Whether that be with peers, friends, teachers or parents you change because of the surroundings. Masks make you feel untouchable while you wear them, but when you take the mask off you feel monstrous about the acts committed while wearing your disguise. The power masks hold cannot be explained, they can turn the innocent into the barbaric. Masks have been worn throughout history. A good example is the German Nazi Swastika that symbolizes World War Two. The Nazi’s Swastika resembles their mask of genocide, deception, and tragedy. They wore this on their left arm and felt domination. They did not feel remorse for the inhumane acts they committed while hiding behind “their masks.” Once the war had completed, many Germans felt disgrace for their actions. The novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding was published at about the same time World War Two was occurring. Golding took ideas from the annihilation of the war and put it into the context of his story. Some of his ideas were inspired from the cruelty of war. William Golding was a British novelist, playwright, and poet known for his award winning book Lord of the Flies, published in 1954. In Lord of the Flies, most of the boys abandoned the civilized society they had always lived, and resorted to being savages.
Once the mask was removed, their journey to see what was underneath it was not what they had expected to see. Instead of being happy by their accomplishment they were instead beginning to feel sick.
Their masks hide the evil dwelling within their innocent souls, waiting to be set free. It emits human personalities and behaviors, allowing it to be impenetrable by visual perception. With these masks as a cover, Jack and his tribe members interact nicely; chaos rips through their society when they allowed their masks to fall off throughout many sequences of events.
In We Wear the Mask, the author’s purpose is to push the reader to feel something about the way things were in his perspective.
One day there was an old abandoned house. Two boys walked passed they looked at each other and said.” We need to go into that house this weekend” the weekend came around and the two boys went to the. House they walked through the front door it was night time they had flashlights. They were hearing weird noises but they kept going through the house they started to get scared. Then the noise got louder they started yelling and stuff turned on the lights they moved on and out of nowhere the lights turned off as they got up the stairs.
During the masked ball we are given, what the reader believes at the time, a very good
