I personally have never had to deal with the American Legal System. My roommate’s sister on the other hand was not as lucky. Amanda went out to the club in L.A. with her friends. All of them were underage drinking and having a good time. She decided to drink and drive. On their way home she crashed her car. Coincidentally, one of her friends was driving by and recognized her car. He came over, helped them out of the car, and took them to a nearby gas station. An onlooker obviously reported the accident to the police. The police rushed over to the scene. Amanda and her friends went back to the car accident to be met with interrogating cops. Since Amanda left the scene not only did she get charged with a DUI, but also a hit and run. She got arrested
Studying in a foreign country is an interesting experience of an individual lifetime. One tends to learn a number of things relating to ways of life in a foreign land. Social, political and economic values and aspects are usually different from one region to another. Therefore, through studying abroad one is able to learn different issues about another society such as gender and sexuality issues, social class and race/ethnicity issues. Having come from a developing country studying in the U.S.A has been a great experience personally. Growing up in Ghana, I had heard a lot of things about the U.S. This was a country I had always wanted to visit; my prayer was answered when I got the opportunity to travel there. Arriving in a new environment came with many experiences. Adjusting with food, language and the weather was not easy. With the passage of time, however I have been able to0 adjust and fit it. There are so many paths to success and happiness in this country: you can pretty much be anything if you try hard enough. This won’t be the case for all people, simply because they aren't good at that certain thing that they want to do. But think of all of the many things you can do. Moving to the United States is a huge step for an immigrant. As an international student, I have been passing through this event that most Brazilian desire to. However, it is hard to adapt with the new culture and lifestyle, knowing that I have my own values. I would like to see who could survive as long he did with just books that state some facts. We all have this idea that we could do better then anyone else. For example, the elections are coming up. Numerous people believed that Barack Obama was a lousy president and can not wait to see him leave. The same people also say how they would be a much better president than him. I have no idea how to run a country with millions of people in it and I have a very high suspicion that others who aren’t in politics no either. Just like this not everyone is an expert on how to survive in Alaska.

I contacted with Chicago Law Clinic. Then they directed me to the National Immigration Justice Center. I know this place and other alternative places. I called them several times to make a free or reduced rate appointment. I also spoked with many people from different departments of Loyola. Unfortunately, they are busy or providing general help. I know many of their advice. I also know well asylum application process due to my personal research during the absence of an attorney for me. As a result, many free legal services are very limited and don’t provide specific help or advice! As a result, the best solution is to have an attorney. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford it now!
Attempting to maintain an education while simultaneously being aware at the fact that my birth giver, my mother, is not a legal American citizen hindered my mentality and work ethic ever since I entered high school. I reminisce about waking up in the morning and faintly hearing my mother grieving in hopes of being able to obtain an American citizenship. I reminisce about being with my mother and praying with for the slightest aspiration of conceiving an American citizenship.
A subject that inspires me U.S History. I have always wanted to learn more about our country. I have never been the best at math or science, but whenever I go to my history class I was always eager to learn more. I would always show up early to class and read the chapter we were learning about and ask questions to the teacher.
I was born in 1962, Detroit, Michigan. I remember it clearly, there was lots of noise, machines, and sparks - a very industrial type of place. I was being pieced together with my brothers and sisters, I don’t know how many of them there were, though. Probably around 400,000 of them. About 27,000 of them just like me, the “Classic” with my decent sized power and good body shape. My other brothers have bigger muscles and better body lines. They are called the “Ambassadors.” My sisters, the humans call them the “Americans” have a better ability to go longer without having to drink, and are very petite. But, aside from the building not being the cleanest, with dirt and dust everywhere, the place had a very tough sensation in it. Big metal machinery and bullet proof strength, was where I was born. Made 100% in the USA.
My Identity has changed a lot in 5 to 10 years. Just 5 years ago I did not have a son and I was single. My identity was a teenage athlete. Throughout high school, I played all types of sports. I played football, basketball, baseball and also ran track. That was my mother way of keeping me out of trouble. I was very popular in school and was able to associate with all different types of social group in school. I was also a nerd and enjoyed science. I was honor roll in all my classes and had study groups through my years in high school. I was also raised in a single parent household and was alone and lonely outside of school. My heart is full as I pack my bags tonight to leave DC this coming Saturday morning. God has allowed me to learn more than I thought off and I just think that he placed a very strong desire in my heart to come back here in the near future.
