As we move into mandatory camps and preparing rosters for the upcoming season, most Buccaneer fans are well aware that Doug Martin is no longer around. With poor performance, a failed drug test, and a monster contract as extra baggage, Tampa moved on and so did Doug. Reports out of Oakland say that Doug has straightened out after being closer to his home with family and friends, and while he may not be on the roster now, I just wanted to wish him the best.
Moving forward, Tampa fans, look out. Ronald Jones II and Peyton Barber are ready to go, practicing hard, and apparently, have made quite an impression on Bucs staff and fans watching the offseason workouts. Scott Smith, from Buccaneers Insider Live, touched upon the battle which isn't really

There was no clear-cut number 1 in that offense, and to be honest they didn't need it. Both players were outstanding given their skillsets and I fully believe the Buccaneers are looking to duplicate that same type of responsibility. Luckily for us, Ingram looks to be suspended for the first few games so that's a little reassuring for us come week 1.
I've spoken before on the spark Alvin Kamara brings to an offense, and I really was hoping for him to fall to us a year ago, but things happen, and luckily for us, Ronald Jones fell to us instead this year. His home run ability will be a very nice weapon that our offense has missed for the last few years.
At this point, I think it's fair to say that we would all love to see Ronald Jones grab that starting spot, even with Peyton right there with him. Peyton will get his fair share of touches this year, something that he hasn't really had the chance to do, and with Ronald waiting to prove he can ball at the next level, the 2 of them together are a great tandem. As the preseason approaches, however, let's hope there is less chatter about who the "starting" running back is and more chatter on how productive and diverse the offense can be with both of them on the roster. It's way too early to label starters and the players still have plenty of time to show just how well they are learning this offense. Here we go, another offseason
If Foster wants to be the clear-cut number one back then Miami is a perfect landing spot for him. After losing Lamar Miller to Foster’s former team, Miami’s roster lacks a running back with a proven track record. Sure, they have Jay Ajayi, who as a rookie showed some signs of promise, but their head coach Adam Gase clearly isn’t sold on Ajayi as the go to guy. The Dolphins lost out on C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson. They clearly want a running back with a proven track record in the NFL and Foster is the best remaining
Joe Thomas: The Cleveland Browns has a certain gift with Joe Thomas in eight seasons, he has been selected for the Pro Bowl eight times and has not missed a single snap. This equates to 7,917 snaps that have not been missed. The left tackle looks to improve on his stats this season and hopes to make it nine seasons and nine Pro Bowl selections. While the Browns team as a unit still need some work, Joe Thomas will be doing his part to help the team get a better record than last seasons. The opposition will be in for a tough season as Joe Thomas will be on the opposition looking to make a big impact with a
Lots of eyes will be on Butler, who has the size and speed to potentially take over for Williams – the current Z receiver on the roster. Williams should put up better numbers than Mohamad Sanu – the Bengals’ former number two receiver who signed a five-year, $32 million deal with the Falcons. If Sanu’s 33 catches, and near 400 yards receiving last season set the table for the deal he signed this offseason – Williams should be seeking something
Well, Bucs fans, the first day of this year's NFL draft is in the books. The Bucs did manage to find Buffalo to trade out of the number 7 spot, which was the smart thing to do after Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson were all of the board at that time, as expected.
He then turned the ball over to Matt Moore, who looked sharp with 10/14 passing for 122 yards and 1 TD. He was also sacked 3 times, which follows suit with one of the Dolphins' major problems last year, the offensive line. Fortunately, they did a much better job of opening holes for the running game, which was led by Isaiah Pead with 50 yards on 10 carries. After giving up 10 first-quarter points, the defense looked sharp, shutting down the Giants' offense the rest of the way.
Since the loss of Simeon Rice, the Bucs have had a difficult time getting to the QB. Not one player has registered 10 sacks since Rice left.. First, Gaines Adams was the savior but ended up a complete failure. Then Adrian Clayborn and Da’Quon Bowers seemed to be the answer. Bowers ended up doing virtually nothing and Adrian Clayborn was average at best.
Looking back at his stats you can see that post-2012 have been nothing to brag about. (Again disregarding his 2015 season) With only 26 total rushing TD's in six seasons and only 2 receiving, it is time for the next man to step up. I have defended Doug Martin until I was blue in the face and my fingertips callused from the countless times I've had to argue his worth. I have to give my fingers a rest.
65 of the Cowboys’ 80 rushing yards against the Giants came from Randle, and 131 yards came from the screen game – 70 of them from Dunbar, who caught 8 of 12 passes Romo connected with the backs. That’s 211 total yards between the ground and air Randle, McFadden and Dunbar
With a more threatening passing game and a stronger offensive line, those numbers could have been much higher. Many fans have questioned what kind of numbers he would be able to produce without another breakthrough back to help carry the load. Those worries have quickly started fading away since the Bears 5th round draft pick this year.
The wide receiver position is the deepest it has been in a while with 2nd year wide out Kelvin Benjamin, rookie Devin Funchess, Corey Brown, Ted Ginn Jr, and Jerricho Cotchery. Those are the guys that will definitely be on the team in 2015, but there are a few other guys that are making a big push
Although the Chargers have lost dynamite-pass-catching back Danny Woodhead (80 catches last season) for the season due to an ACL – lead back Melvin Gordon has been active in the passing game with 20 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Without a top-tier offensive line capable of mauling opponents at the line of scrimmage or buying lots of time for QB Philip Rivers to deliver the football – the five time Pro Bowler has been flushed out of the pocket (throwing on the move) and forced to play at a faster pace.
Cowboys have thrown a lot at him in Training Camp. One play he’s lineup at left cornerback, the second play he’s lined up at as the right cornerback, third play he’s lined up as nickel cornerback, fourth play he’s lined up at free safety spot in base defense, and the fifth play he’s lined up as a linebacker who covers the tight end. Whew that’s a lot for a rookie who’s just now coming into NFL yet alone hasn’t played down of football in NFL yet. But to his credit he’s so smart and versatile that he’s able to take whatever the coaching staff dishes out to him. Long-arms cornerback who has speed, athleticism, and quickness. Jones can cover athletic tight ends because of his size, and speed as well as playing tight man coverage while being able to stay with his man. What I will be looking for during game is how well he will be able to cover these NFL wide-receivers. If he gets beat on a play does he mail it in and continue to get beat? Or does he shake it off and goes makes a play the next time he’s targeted. If I was a betting man I would go with the lateral on what Jones
Kessler leads an offense that is averaging 450 total yards and 35 points per game. USC wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kessler’s main target, is in the Top 15 Nationally in receiving yards and receiving TD’s (85 receptions for 1,389 yards and 10 TD’s). The Trojans rushing attack; a combination of Junior Tailback Justin Smith (157 carries for 875 yards, 5 TD’s, averaging 5.6 yards per carry) and Freshman All-American candidate Tailback Ronald Jones (145 carries for 940 yards, 8 TD’s, averaging 6.5 yards per carry), both players have a shot at a 1,000 yard rushing year.
So far, everything looked good, and felt good, for the incoming eight-year pro as he was reportedly okay when he tried to run and cut with trainers out in the field on Wednesday. It was also reported that he could go back to join the team in full contact practices as early as Saturday.
Since the Buccaneers are on Hard Knocks, roster cuts are going to be a little different this year, dare I say, a little sentimental. Thanks to Hard Knocks, we have gotten a behind-the-scenes view of our team, and especially the players. We have gotten to know the rookies and the players that are on the bubble. We have heard their stories about how they got here and what they had to endure to get here. It's going to be difficult saying goodbye to more then a few of them, but nonetheless, the NFL is a business, and if you can't better the team immediately, then you don't deserve to
