Long ago, a young man walked the streets of Tokyo, begging for spare change and food. His cloths were filthy, his hair hung in front of his eyes and he hadn’t eaten for days. Unfortunately, most people ignored him or yelled at him to leave them alone. When the sun started to set he walked to the back of the ally where he lived. He sat on the old mattress and shoved his hands in his pockets, pulling out everything he had. “Five dollars and 63 cents, an arcade token, and a fake penny.” He said to himself, tossing the arcade token and fake money into the dumpster next to the mattress.
He brushed his hair out of his face and put the money inside a hollowed corner of the mattress. He sighed and laid on the mattress. He turned his head and looked around the ally. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw something shining behind the dumpster. He got up and pulled the dumpster out of the way, picking up the shining object. It was an old beat up lamp. He scoffed. “What a piece of junk.” He threw the lamp and it hit the wall with a clang.
He was about to turn away when he got an idea. He walked over to the lamp and got on his knees, reaching to the lamp. He rubbed the side of the lamp. Nothing happened. He sighed and got up. “Worth a shot.” He turned around and took a step back toward the mattress. He heard a voice behind him.
“Your wish is my command.” He stopped mid step and turned slowly. There was a puff of smoke with bright white eyes floating behind him. “What the-?” He was cut
On a cold December morning snow blanketed the ground while a frozen mist masked the trees. Only the very tops could be seen. I stepped outside and inhaled the clean, crisp Texas air. Still half asleep, I walked to the truck feeling the soft powder compact beneath my boots and the snowflakes melt as they hit my skin. It was the time of year that I had been longing for.
I wasn’t but 6 years old when i found out that life wasn’t all that it cut out to be. Yeah I had always known that nobody was perfect but never that I would feel so empty. When I was 6 years old my mother and her girlfriend filed for custody for me so they could take me away from my home. They wanted to move to Connecticut that was 6 states away from Virginia, my home, my family,my friends, and all I have known. My father put up a fight and wouldn’t let me go he didn’t want me to go and I could never thank him enough for it. When the court date was set everybody was all stressed out and I had a lawyer that came and talked to me about once every two weeks about what I wanted and how the court would work. We saw each other for about two months right up till the court date came around then my mother wouldn’t let me see her anymore because she could tell I was getting upset.
Marc Sarcolo awoke with a start. Rising up, he looked around the room. A lime green, slimy, shining substance happened to be scattered around his once dark room, lighting everything up. While wondering, it took him a brief moment to realize it, but that whirring noise to the left of his head gained his attention. Slowly turning his head and directing his piercing navy eyes to the left, a sky blue light in a cylinder circle shape shined onto his wooden floors. Unfortunetly, the darkness prevented him from noticing anything else. Unconciously jumping out of bed, Marc found himself walking right under the bright light like some invisible object was forcing him too, pushing him. Taking that last step into the beam of light, Marc felt squeezed like
was driving home from physical therapy for my knee. It had been aching for the past few days. I had never felt a pain like it before, so I played it off as nothing. As soon as I hit the highway, I went underneath the Lowry Hill tunnel. I lost reception on my radio and I soon realized that it wasn’t just the tunnel that was making me lose my reception. A massive storm had loomed over my head. The sky was green and looked like it was turning sideways. Rain splattered against my windshield. Not just droplets of rain, but the ones that look like they had been shot out of a paintball gun. I immediately felt the wind blow my car to the right. I had to swerve hard to the left to avoid clipping a jeep that was next to me. Boy, were they in trouble. The jeep had it’s
Guess what my sister did this weekend? Last weekend was her last meet before counties. She did very well. I had so much fun watching her. There were sad moments though when the relay was lost by a split of a second, b. But I still thought it was fun since it was her last meet before winter.
I just want to start this off with saying I'm sorry for arguing and the attitude issues. Lastnight's not how I wanted to spend it. I didn't get a hug or a kiss, all I got was how did you do tonight as if money was the only thing you seemed to care about. Then you tell me to either get out of the car or go home and I said give me a minute because I was on my feet all night at work. And I didn't wanna, stand around the outside of the gas station. People always say never stop fighting for the person you want once you finally get them. And I feel like you don't want to fight for me because you have me now. You know you always tell me that you want the rayann that I was in st. Pete to come back it's hard for her to come back when the last couple of days/week we've done nothing but argue.
Running off the field I swoop up my girl, Daisy Windsor, who was cheering for me on the sidelines. We had just won our last football game of the season against the Mare Island Marines. I started thinking what my life wouldve been like if I continued on with the military field after I graduated. I couldve been one of those marines on the field. I shake the thought and focus on the beautiful girl in front of me in her cute little uniform. "Congrats Mr. Exeter," She smirked. I grabbed her hand and kissed the ring on her finger. "Thank you Mrs. soon-to-be Exeter." I met Daisy soon after I started college. We ran into eachother, literally, on the way to class on the first day. She dropped all her books on the floor and immediately dropped down to
The phone call was short; I took the leftover coins and put them in my back pocket. The woman said they could come within the hour, so I thanked her and hung up. I walked back into the main store where the kid was looking at sodas. Looking out the front door, I saw the old man pumping gas into the car. Down the aisle, the kid pulled out a coke and reached into his pocket, but his hand came out of it with nothing. I reached into mine for the couple of dollars. He saw me, and came closer, taking the few bills from my outstretched hands. He thanked me, and I asked his
“Well, dammit all to hell and Goldview, Texas, anyway,” Brandon Masters whispered under his breath. Not that there was anyone around to hear him, even if he’d shouted to the high heavens. He looked up and down the lonely stretch of highway. So close and yet so far, with nothing but his dead cell phone to keep him company. The way he saw the situation…he could suck it up and walk to town—or, he could wait around for the carrion feeders to discover his dried up, shriveled carcass at the side of the road. Ick.
I had two choices; run or fight? At first i decided to run plus have some fun, but then the fun ended and then i decided to fight. Now this was an experience like no other! A life challenge that i started on my own, to better my life plus it was time to start acting like & becoming a adult. I had my fun and i experienced the wild life. The wild life doesn't get you to a good future. So i could be a wild child, drop out, or like everyone else in my family but i don't wanna be! I wanna make a good name for myself, and if i'm going to do that i'm going to do it right! I know where i've been, I know where i am, I know where i'm going, and i'm going to fight my hardest to get there! I'm also going to do it my way!!! “I am one of a kind”. Ill help anyone even if its just talking them through a problem. The only thing is i'll also put my foot down and fight. I've
We were given the date of the surgery and, the way out to make my day even better, I heard the surgeon say to my mom, that I would have to stay over night at the hospital after the surgery. Awesome.
Healthy food had always been a part of my life that I was interested in but it was not until I walked into Happy and Hale that I realized the impact it would make. It was a normal weekend getting food on Ninth Street with my friends when I was standing on the sidewalk and looked across the street. I saw something I had never seen before which sparked my interest since I thought I knew Ninth Street like the back of my own hand. Looking up at a substantial sign that read “Happy + Hale” I felt the need to know more. My friends and I started walking towards the building which had wide open accordion doors that welcomed us in. We were welcomed by many friendly faces, one of them being the co-owner, Matt. “Hey, y’all! How are
Cesare Pavase once said "We dont remember days, we remember moments." How the day started out Im not sure. How it ended was the main idea. It was an almost summer day, and school was coming to an end. The night before I got grounded for a week so anything that was a planned, fun activity, i couldnt go to. Now this day was special because that specific day was the one day of the year where all the cast and crew of the Spring Musical came together and celebrated theyre reunion as one. Not being able to go was such a disappointment.
BEEP BEEP BEEP screamed the alarm set on my phone. I rolled over and silenced it as swiftly as I could. I sat up and looked around the humid garage and sighed, and scrunched up my nose in distaste at the odor of vomit and day old pizza filled my nose. I sighed again and got up off of the thin mattress, walking to the door and picking my bag up as I left the garage, and headed to the bathroom. I sighed and looked in the mirror, pulled my hair back, brushed my teeth, and left, thinking the words over in my head on how to tell Hailey that this friendship needed to end because I did not like how it was starting to wear at me. We fought almost constantly and lately she kept trying to pressure me into doing things I really did not care to do and had told her from the start that I was okay with her doing them, but I just did not want to get involved in.
“The electric bill must be overdue,” Shisui thought as no light came on. He fingered for his flashlight and with a click, the dim light illuminated the room.
