He asked the group who brought the cigarettes. Nobody answered him, so he said, “ I guess I will have to call everybody’s parent”. Blake pointed at TreVon and said,” Officer he gave us the smokes”. It was a Thursday evening when it all happened. Lady Titan Softball was at Tecumseh high school playing a conference game. Of course, this was my freshman year so varsity wasn’t exactly in my range. Winning the junior varsity game though, was just as important. We all knew this conference game was going to be a tough one, but we were willing to do anything to win.
Arnold Friend gets Connie to go with him after he tells her he will harm her family if she doesn’t comply. This story is important to read because it not only shows that these events can happen, but also to warn people and teach

Arnold Friend implements his subtle charm, yet firm tone in order to entice Connie and establish himself as an authoritative figure in her world. He enjoys getting into her head and playing mind games with her; all of this with his overarching goal in mind for Connie's fate: rape and death. The twisted emotional rollercoaster Arnold puts Connie through while toying with her emotions and exploiting her already fragile understanding of self-worth is entirely for the pleasure he receives. Arnold treats her as if she is a game: a game that he does not hesitate to overstep boundaries in order to win. Stemming from his deeply disturbing motive, being the enjoyment he will get from raping and killing Connie, Arnold goes to great lengths to seduce Connie. Although he generally coaxes Connie with seemingly loving confessions such as, “I’m the boy for you and like I said, you come out here nice like a lady and give me your hand...” (Oates), Arnold’s words have the power to break Connie down, and eventually lead her into a state in which she is “...hollow with what had been fear but was now just an emptiness,” (Oates). Arnold is able to verbally force Connie out of her house and towards him in order to get exactly what he wants out of her. He
While at school in his transitional kindergarten class, Avery becomes increasingly frustrated with himself and suddenly begins to have what others would call a tantrum. Avery’s frustration gets the best of him, and he slaps himself. Other students suddenly stop what they are doing and they watch their classmate. Little do they know that he cannot express himself in the same way that they can; he cannot let go of his frustrations and other emotions as well as they can. They simply do not understand or have a knowledge of what is truly happening in their small classroom. Avery’s classmates laugh at him, and their laughter only makes his frustration worse. The teacher finally becomes aware of the situation and tells the other students to go to recess. Mrs. Green sits with Avery and tells him everything is fine and that their is no reason to be frustrated. Mrs. Green’s efforts to soothe the five year old are not as effective as she had hoped. Avery calms some, but is still shaking. Mrs. Green gives Avery something to drink and says to him, “I see that you were frustrated. I do not want you to feel upset, we are going to say five things that you did well today.” Avery looks at her with tears in his eyes. Mrs Green then said, “One, you put your bag in your cubby without making a mess. Two, you were quiet when we had carpet time. Three, you colored inside the lines. Four, you wrote your name perfectly. Five, you helped Jaycee pick up her crayons when she dropped

He had not changed one bit and Timmy began to lose respect for his dad that he used to have even though he still loved him dearly. One night Timmy’s dad came home and started pushing him around like he had done when he was just a boy, but this time Timmy was a fifteen year old young man and decided he was not taking any more crap after what he had already been through during his life, so he swung at his dad and just about knocked him out. Timmy’s dad was very shocked with Timmy’s actions, but it knocked some sense into him and he decided that it was time to quit being a worthless drunk of a
After not getting anywhere questioning Timmy, James thought that he should call Police Chief Herringtion. Following James' explanation to Chief Herrington, the Chief went to his brother, Randy, and asked if he and his wife Julie, "would mind taking in a five-year-old boy who, apparently got off the Nancy at the wrong stop, here in Millen. We need somewhere for the boy to stay until we can locate his parents. Shouldn't be over a couple of hours before we get him back to whoever he belongs to," the Chief told Randy. Julie and Randy were glad to take Timmy in. They had two boys of their own. "One more will fit in just fine," Julie said.
“Well, after Timothy Barren got done belaboring me with the stick, he said to me ‘I know... I got something for your dumb ass.’ and then he disappeared in the shed at the back of the yard, only to reappear with the can of gas.”
