James has decided that he is sick of not having enough farmland and that we will start moving our family west to Oregon. We have been farming so close to people, they have basically been on our property. He heard that when we go to Oregon we get 640 acres of land when we start our new life, as long as we have a house built and farming started after a year of being there. After one short year of Matthew getting to know his grandparents and Hope only for three, we are sorrowfully saying that we will never be able to live with them again. My in-laws, James’ parents, already traveled and have sent back letters saying that their wagon train had a mass of hardships along the way, but that Oregon is beautiful and it is really spacious for farming.
When I was nine years old my father went to prison. Since he was a single parent, I was forced to relocate to Washington State to live with my grandparents. Moving to Washington was one of the worst things that I thought could happen at the time, even though it ended up strengthening me as a person. I was forced to leave my friends, school, father and all of my other family members. I was taken from everything I knew and was left very confused and conflicted.
My change is about when I moved to Washington from Indiana. When my real dad dropped use off at our drop off spot. We want to a store, and got a drink. After that we started to drive away, I was so many emotions. The reasons for these emotions because I was moving closer to my family, I was losing my friends. My step-dad as driving the u hale and my mom was in the truck with me, my brothers, and my grandma was in the u hale with my step-dad. We also had a two cat's in cages and a turtle which was in a small cage with a tiny bit of water. We stopped at a lot of rest stops at first. I heard my mom say "we need gas" or " call your dad and tell him to stop there."
Me and my family decided to move to Oregon all the way from New England I decided to keep a journal for the adventure we have to pack before we leave though my 18 year old son Bernard told us to bring his xylophone and I Charles Marvin Ives wanted to bring an anvil in case I need to fix or make anything with metal or use our spare parts we brought even though I have no experience as a blacksmith because I'm a farmer. My wife Samantha Packed the bacon, salt, and whiskey and we all had to lift the water keg. I decided to bring my shovels and hammer and some salt for the bacon. We're bringing pots and other cooking utensils as well. My oldest son, Carl who's 20 years old thought it was a good idea to bring a plow. We will also need some firewood
It was a nice ordinary warm morning or so I thought. My mother had been thinking of moving for the past year, but she never really got around to it until that day when she told me and my younger sister at breakfast that we were moving to Idaho. I was very shocked and confused. It was only a few weeks ago that we went to visit Idaho to see if we liked the state. There were so many thoughts buzzing through my head such as what am I going to tell my friends and how much longer do I have to say goodbye to everyone before I never see them again. I also thought why Idaho, what was so special about the little potato state. I liked it in California. All my friends were here, this is where I grew up, and all our relatives lived here as well. Even though my family had moved around California many times before this move, Idaho was something new altogether.
4,097 people. That was the population of Centralia Missouri in 2011. Moving had never been an issue for me, when your dad is in the military you get used to it. This time it was different than any other time. My parents were divorcing and my mom was forcing me to move to a town with only 4,097 people opposed to my home in Virginia with 225,401 people.
At the age of 27, I had an epiphany; For my entire adult life, I had not been truly living. After careful consideration of solutions, seemingly endless nights of research, and thorough preparation, my decision was to uproot myself and move from Virginia to Colorado. In the three years that I lived there I learned many things about myself and my surroundings. I discovered the most beautiful and amazing nature scenes and had some exciting adventures. The daily sunshine and glorious views always brought a smile to my face and lifted my spirits. If I ever woke up not feeling great, all I had to do was take a step outside. There, my energy levels soared as I hiked my days away and enjoyed peace in the mountains, at the parks, and by the lakes and
Leaving my home in Hawaii and moving to Oregon was one of the hardest things for me to do. Maybe I would have felt better about it if my parents had asked me for my opinion before picking up our lives and moving to some place I had never even heard of before. I know I shouldn’t have cared that much. After all, I was only a 1st grader and even now my parents don’t consider how I’d feel before making decisions, so why would they then? At the end of 2007, I said goodbye to my best friends for the last time and left for Oregon.
Colorado, known for the Rocky Mountains, is a gorgeous place to be. The rectangular state rich with wildlife, covers 104,185 square miles. In the black timber, it is dark and silent, not a sound to be heard. The thick pine trees block out most of the sunlight, only to see about seventy-five yards. The terrain is brutal, almost straight up and down, but the elk love it because it is a challenge for hunters to see them. As I walk my favorite ridgeline in the black timber, I watch for the slightest movement and listen for the smallest crack. Watching thirteen-lined ground squirrels run around and chase each other can be humorous when they fall down from trees. My adrenaline pumps and heart races at a million miles per hour as I wait patiently
Relocating from Florida back to Arizona was quite the journey. We went through terrible weather changes and and other dreadful like things on the trip. On the day we took off to board the greyhound we found out that the train had been experiencing some difficulties performing like the rest of them, but we had been told that the problems were fixed and that we shouldn't be worried. So we trusted in this man and what he had told us and i see now that was a big mistake, so we boarded the train took off our bags and we were all excited and could'nt wait to get back to see granny the rest of the family. Finally the train took off and the journey began I took a seat and felt relieved and calm but at the same time I felt uneasy and i just couldn't
Personally, I live in a state that has little wilderness, mountaintown's, forest, etc., therefore, it has been a lifelong dream of mine to have the availability to not only visit the three states that I have chosen but to also take my children to experience this with me. Due to having family who lives in Wyoming and Montana luckily they are so kind to share photos of both states with my children and me. However, I do not have family living in New Mexico, although I was lucky enough in high school to have a friend move from New Mexico and allowed me to see many pictures, nonetheless, this has been a dream of mine to someday make it to New Mexico.
Have you ever had everything you’ve ever known, stripped away from like it had never even mattered. The things you most loved and cherished, such as friends and family, taken away. Have you ever had to leave the only place you’ve ever known, as well as the people who lived there. I can honestly tell you I thought the world was ending when my parents announced that we would be leaving our quaint town in Arizona and moving to the big city. A few miles outside of Boston. The suburbs to be exact.
When we first moved to the united states, my dad has passed away and we lived a poor neighborhood in Irving. I use to have a lot of black and Hispanic friends. My mom used to be at work all the time so I and my friends use to be outside a lot. I remember this was the time during when Katrina had hit southern Louisiana and a lot of people from Louisiana had moved to Texas. Most of the people that had moved here from a low-income household, their houses in Louisiana were destroyed and did not have money to live in a hotel or motel so they moved with their family here. Crime was very high during that time in Irving for that very same reason. I remember the police use to stop us, kids, when we were just walking and search us and ask us question
I was born in Ghana, moved to Virginia when I was four and lived there for twelve years. In Virginia, I moved and switched schools about six times by the time I was in sixth grade. As a result I had problems socially, but academically I managed to keep good grades. At the end of sixth grade, I moved to Colorado. When I got to Colorado, for seventh grade I went to a Catholic school in Aurora, Colorado, and eighth grade a charter school in Denver. I was accepted to Regis Jesuit High School for ninth grade, but wasn’t able to attend due to financial reasons. So I went to a school in Broomfield, Colorado for better education opportunities; it was at a rural neighborhood compared to the charter school in Denver. Going to Broomfield was an interesting experience; I lived in Aurora at the time, so I would have to drive fifty minutes to get to school.
When I first moved to California, I was accompanied by a group of students with high moral. Allegedly, they had just won a state tournament, and I was lucky enough to bump into them while they were celebrating. Before I bumped into them, I was in a pittance of peril, because I had gotten lost on my way back to the dorms, my phone died, and I felt as though I was being followed someone, so you can imagine how thankful I am for meeting
“Whoosh!’ the plane went as we grounded. We had reached California. It was November of 2011. I was with my family, my magnificent mom Paula, incredible dad Ray, and headstrong sister McKenzie going to my Uncle Tony and Aunt Rachel’s wedding and to go to Disneyland. Just because family is not near does not mean you should not make time to visit them.
