Over the summer I attended a camp at Zehmal park. It was a Flag football camp. That’s when it all happened! I was at a flag football camp and we were playing a game called king of the hill, the coach asked me “What drill do you want to run?” I responded with butterflies in my stomach “Out” So he threw the ball. As it gusted through the wind and into my hands I caught the ball! Unfortunately, it hit my finger. “Ouch” I whispered to myself while I was running back to the end of the line. Luckily, it just felt like a jam, you know when the ball hits your finger and it hurts for 30s? Well that’s what happened to me except it didn’t hurt for 30s it hurt for days!! When, I looked at my finger, it was all swollen and gross! My finger was knocked …show more content…
Until finally it was over! When my Mom picked me up I showed her. She decided to take me to our neighbors house (because they are doctors.) My swollen finger was bothering me like a miskito! My neighbors told me “Ice it for 20 min and see how it feels tomorrow. Also take some medical tape and tape you pinky and ring finger together.” My neighbor encouraged me while trying to deal with her youngest 1 year old kid, Xavier. When we went home I iced my finger and had my Mom tape them. In the morning it was still swollen and in pain so we went to the doctor. At the doctors we waited until I heard my name. Then they took a look at my finger and did doctor stuff like take my blood type and stuff like that. They took off the tape and it looked better because the sticky white tape put my finger in the right spot but sadly it was still swollen. Next, they put me in a different room upstairs to take some x-rays, they figured out that I had 2 fractures (so practically broken!) They put an enormous cast on my arm that went all the way down to my elbow and I had to wear that for 2 weeks or something like that. After a while of having it on, my arm got numb and I couldn’t feel my hand! When we got traveled back after the 2 weeks they gave me another cast. The difference was that it was smaller and only went down to my wrist also my 2 fingers (pinky and ring) were at a 90 degree angle. They told me “Wear that one for another
Last year, in October during the cheerleader’s concert, that my mom and dad were singing at, I asked, “Do you want to dance?” My mom said, “yes”. Walking out to dance, she fell and accidently tripped me and landed on my ankle. It felt as if someone was breaking my leg in half. It got really numb where I couldn’t feel it, but I still knew I was in some pain. Picking me up off the ground, my mom sat me on the bleachers. Everyone came over there and it was really embarrassing. My dad carried me to the car and we drove to the dollar store to buy me an icepack to put on it.
Ice- it will keep down the swelling. Apply ice with a thin piece of cloth, not more than 20 minutes to avoid frostbite.
When I saw the x-ray of my wrist I did not understand a single thing the doctor explained all I knew was that I was going to wear a cast for a month and to my surprise, it was not going to be a pretty pink color if not an ugly off-white color. It was in that moment that I realized that I was screwed, I was not allowed to get the cast wet which meant no beach or pool for the whole month and when you live in a tropical island and have a pool in your backyard this are horrible news. I was to stay with the cast for all of winter
Once there, they took an x ray, and told me I had an open tibia/fibula fracture, which means that both of the bones in my leg were fractured, and one had pierced through my skin (slightly), which we already knew. Since it was on open fracture, they were worried about infection, so they decided to set my leg (popped the bones back together), and have me airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, which I didn’t mind, but a helicopter can go quite faster than a car, so I was alone in a hospital room for around an hour and a half, till my parents could get there.
I touched my knee the absolutely horrific thing about that is that it was gashed open, blood was flowing down my leg covering my shoe the blood covered half my hand I felt the gushy meat I screamed well of course. I couldn’t describe the pain. It was about half an inch from my bone. My sister called my mom and she drove to the street and called an ambulance. My mom had to take my brothers shirt and put it on my knee. People came out of their houses to help and then there was one person that came out of her house and started complaining about us being in her yard and other things she took a few pictures and we were us on the news.
I put it in a split and leave the medbay. That's when Bruce spots me. His eyes narrow at my arm and he walks over to me, then he leads me back into the medbay. He sets me on a bed and takes off the splint. I watch his hands, occasionally glancing up at him. He poked and probed the area until I winced, he hit the spot. The break was on my left arm, same as the stitches, in between my elbow and wrist, but a little bit closer to my wrist.
It was later in the game- we were still up and decided to run a trick play. A throwback pass to David Salazar. It was around our 20 yard line, the ball was thrown to David where he had blockers ahead of him including myself. I had my defender pinned where it was impossible for him to make the play. Then moments later David was in the end zone. I sprinted down the field to celebrate his score. The stadium was going nuts. That play was the game defining play. From that point we took the life out of them.
I saw my coach walk towards me but tears were dripping down my face. She asked what happened then I heard a snap! I knew it came from my ankle because there was a sharp pain.
They handed it to my parents and told them to fill it out before my surgery. So we went home and I had a hard time sleeping. It felt like I had just gotten home but 8 hours later I was back in the ER room. I had to put on a gown. I walked down the hall in my gown with my parents to my operating room. When we got there I was told to lay on the table which had white paper over it. This room had a lot of metal tools and the pink wrap for my cast. I smelt just like the first room I had been in but it smelt like a lot of different. cleaning supplies. They put a gas mask thing on me and told me to count back from one hundred. So I lay there getting sleepier counting 99,98,97. I don't remember saying the rest but when I woke up there was a pink cast on my right arm. The doctors gave me donut and some
We try to close the truck trailer door and I did push the door down to lock it , but unfortunately My fingers trapped in the gap between trailer door . As soon as I felt it , I try to pull out , but I couldn't able to pull it out from the trap . I told him to take out the lock and he pulled up then I able to took my finger out from the trapped . I checked it and I didn't feel pain at the same time , but I saw the drop of blood in my index finger glove then I figure out my index finger was cut .
Then, I went to get her then BAM!!! I had placed my right hand where the belt goes under on the treadmill. It burnt the skin off of my middle and ring finger on my right hand. After that, we rushed to the doctor's office, which then sent
I picked up a chunk of ice that had fallen to the floor and put it to my new injury. He always kept me home on Saturdays. Like a punching bag, I relieved his frustrations. And so it would continue until I took my last breath, most likely at his
Icing your thumb for 5-10 minutes and repeating this for several times in the day helps to relieve the swelling.
It was the first football game of the season and my first year on the varsity football team. I was in at quarterback in a wildcat formation. I took the snap and took off to the right studying the players around me waiting for a hole to open up. When I saw the hole, I planted and I cut up field as hard as I could and
Skating down the ice with my head down, boom, Down I go. I didn’t get up for about 5 minutes. As I get up off the ice I skate back to the bench in pain. Feeling a little dizzy I put an ice pack on it and hope it heals. I finish the game and then feel a lot of pain after the game. I tell my mom I am fine and she believes me. I go back to the hotel and watch tv and try my best not to lean on my arm or even put pressure on it. I try my best not to put any pressure on my wrist and make sure my mom doesn't get the feeling it might be broken.
