I will never forget the first time I went fishing, and how I instantly fell in love with it. The first fish I ever caught was in a local pond, it being a 5 pound catfish. I was four years old when I did this, and it seemed surreal to me that I could catch a fish like that. 10 years later, my family and I have competitions to see who can catch the most massive fish. My mom currently holds that record, with a rainbow trout weighing in at a whopping 22 pound 14 ounces. A typical rainbow trout would normally weigh anywhere from 1 to 4 pounds. She was so proud of that accomplishment that she had an exact replica made, and it is now mounted on her wall. I never seem to tire of fishing, as it is an activity that I never say no to doing. Watching the
So here's how it all started I was on a boat going to go hunt for game. Until the captain pointed out ship trap island in the distance. I heard 3 gun shots and ran to the rail to see what happened I dropped my pipe and tried to catch it but instead i plunged into the water. I swam with all my might to get to shore because the the water was freezing cold so i swam towards the shots because it meant shelter in my head then i fell asleep.I woke up and went to find some food I saw the remains of a dead animal and a rifle cartridge and some foot prints.
This is a paper about the book Finding Fish: A Memoir, which was written by Antwone Fisher. By necessity given the nature of the book, the main character will be examined at length. Through careful examination of the main character a deeper understanding of the book can be reached. After the examination, a number of theoretical perspectives will be applied to the main character, as well as an explanation of how these perspectives can be used to evaluate Antwone in order to understand him better. The perspectives that will be used will be the strengths, systems, conflict, humanistic, and psychodynamic perspectives. Following the connection of the perspectives to Antwone, an explanation of why social workers use theories and
Many people find hobbies that they enjoy; some people find hobbies that they love and make them lose track of time. What I have come to realize is that when you truly have a passion for something, whether it be good or bad, you tend to put it ahead of other things in life. You become so skilled in this one area because it is something you truly enjoy doing. But you can take what you have learned from this and apply it to the real world. What drives me is bass fishing, to the average person this just sounds like a lazy man's weekend activity. When I was young there wasn't much to it just put bait on a hook and wait but the possibility of potentially catching a giant has kept me hooked. As I have grown older I've learned how complicated what seems to be simple task
Ever since I was a kid I have enjoyed fishing. Fishing relaxes my mind and allows me to get away from the stress of the real world. From the cool breeze around the lake to the fishes nibbling away at the bait, it’s all just very relaxing. There was one day where I caught more fish than I had ever caught before. The entire day had been going my way. My boss called me and gave me the day off and that alone is a good way to start your day. After getting the day off I was able to get a few extra hours of sleep. Being able to sleep in allowed me to get the some rest that I had not been able to get for a few weeks. After getting my well-deserved rest I decided to go to the pet store to get some fish bait. Fishing was not my original plan for that day but since I was able to get the day off and I didn’t have any other plans I was able to plan to do one of my favorite things.
Kennady Peters and I have been best friends ever since the age of two when we were in the same pre-school class. During our sophomore year of high school, we were inseparable. There were times where Kennady would stays for days at a time at my house. We would play video games, watch movies, or just talk and hang out.
Illusory superiority. That is what it is called when we think that we are better than someone else. It happens to us all at one point or another. We see someone in the street, in class, or at practice, and we stick up our noses. “I am so much better than them” you think to yourself as they go about their business. Maybe it is because of the way they look, or act, or maybe it is just because you think they do not meet your standards in some way. I am guilty of this as well. My experience happened at a fly fishing competition just a few weeks ago, but I was quickly shown that what I thought was totally wrong.
I love to fish so when ever i get a chance so one day I was in the house and
Hunting has always been one of my biggest interest, especially deer. It excites me, because anything could happen at anytime. Hunting is a passion for many people, and can be passed down from generation to generation like in my family. My grandfather started hunting after he married my grandmother, and he passed it on to my father, and then down to me.
I t was my first day on the job as a coast guard. My experience that day is one that I would never forget. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was going on a mission to save a girl trapped on a boat next to a bridge.
The wind is beating on my face as I grip ferociously on the rope ladder. Looking down below I see blue waters getting farther away little by little. The frigid air has turned my skin purple and numb, while snowflakes falter my vision. And then it happens. I feel a tremendous scraping and clawing at my leg. As I adjust my eyes downward I see a large gray figure. My heartbeat comes to a screeching halt and I see red everywhere. Red on my leg, red falling downward in the sky, red in the water. All the while I am still attached to the ladder with the force left in my forearms. “HELP! PLEASE HURRY! PLEASE HURRY I NEED INSIDE!” I am yelling and crying at the workers above to pull me in. The pain is excruciating and my mind is spinning.

Fishing has been around a long time and has been evolving over the years. In fact, the first known fishermen were from the Stone Age. They used materials that were available to them to catch fish and put food on the table for their families. Succeeding the Stone Age however, fishing has slowly begun to transform into more of a sport than a method of providing food. National Geographic states, “It wasn't until the 15th century that fishing began its evolution into a sport. Previously, fishing was simply a means for survival.” Fishing has changed so immensely that it has become a competitive sport. Fishermen all over the world angle competitively against each other in huge tournaments for a living. These professional fishermen are awarded millions of dollars to angle out of expensive boats that their sponsors pays for.
Snap! The branch broke under my foot as my Dad and I were walking on the bank of the stream. It was a early summer morning and me and my Dad were checking out a stream to see if any fish lie in its depths. We did not bring our fishing poles because we did not know the stream existed. Luckily we had some kite string and some sharp size 4 silver hooks. So I decided to grab a long sturdy stick and tie the kite string to it to create a makeshift fishing pole. I tied the hook to the kite string and put a weight on it. But then we realized we had no bait! So my Dad ventured off into the dense forest in search of some bait that the fish might find tasty.
At the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, it felt as though I had ten consecutive sore throat/cold illnesses. As soon as I got well from one, I’d catch another. I think one of them may have been swine flu, as that was around the time of a major epidemic. I was so run down, it seemed, that my immune system didn’t have the means to fight every new strain of the cold virus, or anything else.
