My eyes drifted to the worn tan leather passenger seat, but after a moment they shifted to the steering wheel and focused on the veining of the birds-eye maple. I often find myself staring at the wheel and thinking for five, ten, or maybe fifteen minutes. Sometimes I think about responsibilities or obligations, and other times, I use those five minutes as a time of tranquility. Every once in awhile, I try to envision how different my life would have been if my parents would have chosen to leave Clear Lake. It was around 6pm when I received the call from my dad saying he needed to see my brother and I at his office within the hour. After I heard the words, “I need to talk to you guys,” I was not in the mood to chit chat. I told him what he wanted
He was walking onto the campus of his future college for the first time. “This is a place I can go. This is a place that I will enjoy.” He walked around with the name of the college echoing in his mind. “Case Western Reserve University. Case Western Reserve University.”
Last year I was impressed with all the interesting plants blooming in the alkali meadows next to Klondike Lake. Plants like Rabbit brush and shrubs are found in abundance here but not too many other places in the state or even the Owens Valley.
Upland, Nebraska; population 143. This is where I grew up. Might as well call it Nowhere, USA. Everyone else does. There is a small store, a small post office, a small diner, a small church, a small park, and a whole lot of small houses. The people here are all racist, all Christian, and all stuck. The school is a half hour drive away in Minden, as is the closest hospital, and pool. Let’s not mention how far away a mall is.
Sunset Beach High School. It is a rough neighborhood there especially in sports. If your going out for sports you must know these three essentials to staying alive. Number one is do not ever be a try hard in practice. Number two is if you're not a starter stay away from the starters or it might get violent. Number three is never upset Oliver.
“Be sure to get a blanket,” the tour guide had said. Though it was around 95 degrees outside and there was not a cloud in the sky, I had doubted her. This trip to Florida had been a total flop so far, and I was already disappointed we had climbed aboard the shoddy Wildlife Tour speedboat instead of spending our day in the aquarium like I had been promised. There was virtually no wildlife to be found, and now I was freezing cold from the ocean breeze and high speed winds being forced upon me from the speed the boat was going. Obviously, this was a children’s tour because the only people on the boat besides the “captain” (as he called himself), the tour guide, and my grandmother and more, were young families with children that were between the
I was a young child sitting in abandoned house waiting for the black blizzard to pass.I went to get wet towel to put over my face.

After what seemed like an eternity of rigorous tests and dealing with the painful longing of wanting to hold a precious baby of my own in my arms, it happened; my dreams at long last came true. I was pregnant! But something happened; I felt my world come crashing down. The thought of bringing another life into this world terrified me.
It was a hot sweltering day after soccer practice of my sophomore year of high school. I just pulled into the driveway after coming home from soccer, in my ’99 Honda accord. After entering my house I ripped off my soccer gear and headed for the shower. The three hour long practice in 90 degree weather sapped me of any available energy. In no hurry, I spent half an hour in the shower almost falling asleep as the hot water beat off my back. Before exiting the shower I heard this growl, which sounded like it was from an animal. While drying off, the sound occurred again and I finally realized my stomach was the animal making the noise. After finishing up in the bathroom, I decided it was time to tame the monster in my stomach that would eventually
It is finally Saturday and I get to catch up on all my absent work. But the sad news is that I had to stay at my late great grandmother's house on Friday to clean the house and get it ready for rituals. But it was not that tiring, but I came home at 5:30 am. And I fell asleep and woke up at 8:00 am. Then, I got ready for breakfast and made some orange juice and toasted bread. I left my house at 10 am and I has a hectic drive. So when I was entering the freeway this man shows up and starts to honk for 4 seconds straight for no reason. I found it strange because then he changed lanes and turned on his emergency lights and was driving. But after that I arrived at 2850 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94403 at 10:34 am. I called Sergeant Jin and
There are two types of people in this world: those who take risks and those who think about it but do not. The people who take risks are the ones who make a difference in the world. The people who remain sedentary want to but they do not act. They tell themselves that they will do it tomorrow and they think they have time “for a hundred indecisions” (Prufrock). But humans are not immortal and it is time that fact is realized. People should live life to the fullest by taking risks because that is how life is measured.
Write a two (or more) page essay in which you will tell a personal narrative (story) in the first person. You are encouraged to share a memory or story that you would be comfortable sharing with myself and the entire class. Remember, your audience is your fellow students or peers. Although no topic is off-limits and no censorship is required, please do not share a story that would make you uncomfortable to share.
Pounding your head against an obstacle until your ears hemorrhage due to an seemingly unattainable objective that people prior have failed to accomplish. This is what a community needs: people continually trying to get a common goal accomplished, people who share this characteristic do great things in life. Being determined is what drives people to get things done. Failure to give up when the going gets tough is one trait that describes me. Throughout my life, I have motivated my peers by example. Even when I fail, I show that it’s always possible to get back up.
Having my dad around all the time wasn’t my everyday routine. I’d see him once or twice a week so I wasn’t very much used to see him every day. One day I came home after school and he and my mom were on the balcony talking, the notice I was staring, they both looked at me and called for a family meeting by the tone of their voices I could tell there was
I stretched my arms out and looked up and down the beach. Although I lived in Waikiki for years, it'd been far too long since I took a vacation, let alone the beach, since I'm dealing with neverending piles of school assignments and activities. As I strolled along the coastline I can feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me. I closed my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day. The beach was oddly quiet for this time of that year, only a handful of people sunbathing. I didn't mind, I was going to enjoy myself.
