Personal Narrative: First Lego Robots

FIRST Lego League: While I was in middle school I participated in this league as a programmer and designer. This entailed using the engineering design process to work with a team to create an autonomous robot to meet several distinct goals. Each year we received a new topic, like Nature's Fury, which the competition is thematically focused around, and we also designed a creative project or invention to go alongside our robot. I was recently asked to become a coach for this league which would allow me to lead students through the creative process and teach them about programming and engineering. I am still considering this and have not decided yet. Robotics Club: In high school, I advanced to our FIRST Tech Challenge club which focuses around creating a robot to participate in a two-stage game with an autonomous period and a pilot …show more content…

Mu-Alpha-Theta club also tutors for mathematics and participates in local competitions similar to math team. Beta Club & Junior Beta Club: In Beta Club, we volunteer in community service activities including peer tutoring and fundraisers. One example of a fundraiser is the Courageous Challenge which helped raise money for the Armed Forces Mission, a nonprofit organization working to prevent suicide. Science Olympiad: Although I no longer participate in Science Olympiad, I used to participate in grade school, and even won several awards. Web Design Club: I am an experienced member of web design club which is a club where we discuss designing websites effectively. This also gives junior members a chance to ask questions about scripting, and request input on their designs.
