From my own experience, I know firsthand the power of Disney. In my life, I have not had the best success with decent health. Crohn’s disease is most often diagnosed at ages 13 to 30 (Grossman “Children and Teens”). I was one of those lucky people to be diagnosed at the age of six. For the past ten years and counting, when it comes to my health, I can honestly say I am on a never ending roller coaster ride. Since being treated costs me the strength of my immune system, I am more susceptible to illness than the average person at any given time of the year. My spirits are low on any day that I wake up and feel exhausted with small flakes of energy. The one thing that can pick me up, is a good Disney movie or show. I cannot help smiling or mouthing
Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.
I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.
Maybe I was too little, or maybe I was too short, but either way I did not make the jump. In the second grade I was your average eight year old, who always wore her hair in ponytails, and enjoyed playing tag at recess. One day I saw the fifth graders on the monkey bars at recess doing something I had never seen before, they were jumping to the fourth bar. I waited untill Kids Inc. that day to try the jump, but it was no use I was acting like a scared baby.
I live in place that is a replica of the Disney animated movie The Princess and the Frog. N’awlins, Lusiana. Walking down the streets of the French Quarters, because the only thing in N’awlins is the French Quarters, of course) there is always a brass band playing, and there’s always zydeco music playing as well. People in N’awlins; natives, and tourist are always dancing, and singing marching down to Jackson Square to have a festival, because Jackson Square is the only thing that is in the French Quarters. Being from N’awlins, my daily food consumption only contains, Gumbo for Breakfast, Crawfish for Lunch, More Gumbo, and more crawfish for dinner, and of Course Beignets for desert. My daily mode of transportation is the Street car, because
“All forces to Star Tours!” Pascal the head security guard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios yelled to his fellow authorized guards.
When I was young my Dad would always remind me of how important these years as a kid are. He would always say watch how you act as a kid, for it will set the stage for the rest of your life. So many people I know ruined their lives when they were kids. This small, yet so important statement runs through my mind everyday. I love how everyone says they don’t care what people think of them, but I wish they knew how important it is to have a good image. I am not perfect, but I would like to be close as possible. But as Salvador Dali said “Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it. “ The problem I see is everyone wanting to be someone that they are not. Sure, we all have our idols that we look
I’ve always asked myself,” what does it really take to make it big? To play amongst the greats, how could I do that? Me, Skylar Ross, a young man with this desire, the passion, wanting to play side by side with legends, to become someone people talk about, is what has pushed me all these years. It drove me to become a better player, to become more informed about the sport. This also influenced me to become more intertwined with school, that way I could have a better chance at getting a scholarship at a college.
Today I remember the time I was able to participate in The Disney World Thanksgiving Day Tour/parade .It is the day of and I am about to get in line for the parade.I am behind Magic Kingdom where all of the magical Disney Characters are getting prepared to go out into the wonderful Magic Kingdom..
My family and I went to Disney Quest before a concert on November 25. I earned 3 hours of action for this activity. I planned out the day and we started initiating it by beginning at the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold. I knew we had to do this activity first because of its popularity. This game requires one person to "steer the ship" and two people to "shoot the guns at the pirate ships." We played this game twice and the first time, I shot the guns but then steered the ship the second time. I had to work collaboratively with my teammates to sink the most ships. I would tell the person steering the ship to go right or left or I would warn the people using the guns that there was ship coming up on the right. In another game
I met the love of my life at the Disney Store. As disgusting as it is, I have been drinking out of one cup for the past decade. This cute, pink cup crafted from engineering genius is able to hold exactly one cup of water without spilling over making for quite a useful substitute measuring cup. It features Marie, the little sister kitten from my, at the time, favorite movie “The Aristocats” encased in a sparkly, semi snow globe type contraption. Unless offered a disposable cup, I simply refuse to drink out of any other glass.
I was just going to work like every day. I was listening to the radio and they were having a thing were you call in and whoever was the fifth caller won two tickets to a NFL football game. So I call knowing I probably won't win but then I WON. I was so excited i called off work for friday saturday and sunday for it and i am bringing my cousin jaden and he said yes he would come and he can't wait to come with me. So we're both getting ready for tomorrow morning when were getting on the plane to go to california to see the panthers vs the lions i'm cheering for the panthers and cousin is cheering for the lions and we are betting 100$ on the team we want to win
Disney is truly the happiest place on earth. Every kid wants to go,but does every kid get to go? I'm going and i can't fully wrap my head around the idea that on September 15th-I'll see Mickey Mouse and all the marvels of Disney!
For Design week, I attended an open house for Polara Studio. After the event my original self-assumption was that I had started out with a naive mind set. I thought it would be fun to include my little family in visiting other designers in the Portland area. I very much enjoyed sharing my love for photography with my family but felt insecure about my professionalism shortly after. I had thought that my family would have appeared as too much of a distraction.
My mom is a fairly strict person when it comes to bedtimes, so it is by nature that I came to defy her. One summer night, I went to bed as usual, but with a mischievous glint in my eyes. Watching the crack under the door, I bade my time when, two hours after I “went to sleep,” the lights finally turned off outside. I gave it thirty more minutes before turning on the TV. Luckily for me, a The Suite Life of Zack and Cody marathon was on. Unluckily for me, my seven-year-old self was more inclined to animation, and soon, the laugh tracks became monotonous lullabies.
It was the moment where I knew I am starting to become an adult. "The World is Yours" is my motivate phrase when I started to attend college. As a child, I was grateful for what my family gave me like toys, money, or anything a child wants. My mom will always call me "Sweetie" or "Mama" which they are my nicknames for when I get happy or when I get sad. I grew up in New York where I had my childhood living where I used to go to the park, spend time with my cousins, my grandfather picking me up from school and watch cartoons. It was that point in my life where I knew I grew up as an adult with lessons that three Disney movies have taught me.
