Freezing sweet corn is one of my memorable childhood traditions. After the corn grew ripe, our family would plan the sweet corn date making sure everyone could make it. When the day finally came to do the sweet corn, Dad would yell up the stairs for all of us kids to come down. I woke up, and as I dressed I could see outside was still enclosed in a sleepy darkness. My dad drove his old red work truck that smelled of motor oil and old dust. It was a regular cab so the four of us kids fit along the one side of the bench seat; our shoulders were too wide to fit side by side so we had to overlap. Since I was the littlest, about 7 years old, and the only girl I was overlapped on both sides, but I wasn’t awake enough to complain. I waited till
Playing in the snow during the winter is most kids favorite thing about winter other than getting toys during the holidays. I know as a kid I enjoyed it and I know the dangers of it but they never crossed my mind as I was having fun. For most nothing ever happens to them wasn't one of those kids. As a kid every winter Zack and I would always play in the snow at my Mom’s, Dad’s, Nan’s, or anywhere else.
There was a group of cousins that would see people go to the corn maze they thought it was fun. Then one day they saw that a lot of people were leaving and not going to that maze so they thought and thought why had they stopped going a few were going. One day Maria said “ Let go check it out” Everyone said”Yes we should”... except for esme she looked nervous for going. Jimmy asked her and said “ What’s wrong why don’t you want to go?” Esme said “ I'm scared to go i feel like something will come out of nowhere” Everyone said “ You're crazy” Esme kept thinking should i go or no? So then she made her decision that she would go cause she didnt want them to call her scary cat even though they are cousins. So then they all left they raced back and forth but then diana, luisito, and maria heard people talking about the maze and why alot of people havent been going so they kept hearing they heard them saying “There is a clown in this maze i don't know why they are here!” Diana said “ What the hell why didn't they say anything about it” Luisito said “ That's probably why esme didn't want to come?
One weekend, my friend Hannah and I wanted to go on a quad ride during the night. It was during the summer and we were at Hannah’s house and we were bored. So we thought it would be a good idea to go for a ride, so we asked her step dad if we could and he said yes. We both thought it would be super fun to go for a quad ride. So, we get all geared up in proper clothing because it was cold out and off we went.
When my brothers and I were younger, noodles and cottage cheese were a staple food for us. My mom says that they’re a classic in every Jewish household, but she might remember it that way because cottage cheese is another food group for my Bubbie. There’s no telling how much my mom and her siblings must have ate it. But it started a family food tradition, one that my mother put a healthy twist on, as usual: one day, she served the dish with chunks of avocado.
The next day we placed the pile of pumpkins we bought on our picnic table outside. My dad sat down with me and lined up the carving utensils around my tiny pumpkin.
Beep! Beep! Beep! I wake up to an alarm screaming in my ear. I smack the alarm to shut the yelling off. It was a January day, in the middle of the cold, brutal winter. I finally got up after sitting in bed for what felt like hours, and looked outside like I do every morning. I noticed that there was no sign of grass to be seen. All that could be seen was white, frozen blanket of thick snow. I started to get ready for the school day and I just prayed that school was going to be canceled. As soon as I was fully ready I stepped outside and my food sunk down a foot and a half below the snow! I could not believe it that school was still open. As soon as I got to my car that was completely covered in snow, my mother comes out and yells that school was closed. I felt a huge wave as release and I ran back inside and went right back to sleep.
It was a nice day to go pumpkin picking with my family. We went to the local farms to pick our pumpkins. I wanted to pick the perfect one.
Youngstown so I could try and be a state champ in the sport of wrestling. It took about 4 hours and 30 min to get there. Then we were on our way to wrestle in a big tournament with boys and girls from all over the united states of america. The arena is as big as the Bengals or the Cowboys stadium. Once we got to the arena, I couldn't eat until after I weighed 90 pounds or under. If I didn't make that weight I couldn't wrestle and we would have to go all the way back home. But I made it at the weight of 88.3 lbs. And I was so happy. After all that we went and ate at this really cool pizza place where you can make your own pizza it smells very good. The waiters bring
One day in Nebraska, Bill was riding in his brand new 1970 chevelle. He was thinking if he could bring it to a drag strip and race that would be great. So he got online to check if there were any events and there happened to be one in one day. So he got his car all cleaned up and tooned out for the race. The next day he got up and got ready for a great day. He got into his car and head off to the drag race track. Once he got there he got his car all ready for the race just to make sure. His opponent was very experienced and you could tell he has been racing for a while. So Bill got nervous but he was ready. His opponent had a very fast car that might have had even more power than his chevelle.
"Andrea, stay here with the others. I'm getting supplies and your father is going to get some weapons," Andrea's mother informed her. "Never leave this house, no matter the circumstances," she instructed.
When I was younger my brother would take me with him when he went to put gas in his truck and we always went to the old Flying J in south Willard. When he went in to pay for the gas he would let me come in and get a soda and I would always get a Frostie Blue Cream Soda in a glass bottle. It is memorable because I loved riding in my brother’s truck. Looking back at the memory, I am reminded of a much simpler time before the Interstate came through, when the most stressful part of my day was waiting for my brother to come home from work. Marketers can appeal to my generations’ nostalgic feelings by using glass bottles, bringing back older sodas, or by using family relationships. A script for this consumption activity could be as such: An old
The ripping of blades against the solid and stable ice. I fell in love with the sound the minuet I laced up my first skates. I was at The Falmouth Family Ice Center, lacing up a set of white rental figure skates while my once and cheeks turned numb and blush color filled the tip of my nose. I could hear the laughs and the screams, but under that I could hear the slice of blades ripping through the solid ice. At first, I couldn’t go two feet without another bruise, but after a few hours on the chair I could make it around the entire ice arena without coloring my skin black and blue. I spent every weekend getting farther and farther away from the chair and away from the wall. I fell in live with skating and eventually graduated from my white
It was a bitter cold sleeting Texas day in February when we laced up our spikes and hit the diamond to continue our school tradition. It was our senior year and basketball season had just ended two days before. Cody and I were the three and four hitters in the lineup and it still felt like we were in our sleeveless jerseys. Third pitch of my at bat I get hit by a pitch in the back. I told my first base coach "what a wonderful way to start off the season in 30-degree weather." and he then laughed. Cody came up to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam on the first pitch he saw. We won our first game of the season and we all knew that it would be a special one, but for Cody and I it would be different from all the rest of our teammates all thanks to one coach.
One good snowing after school day, the bell just rang my dad was in line and forgot that me and my brother Ethan were going to my friends house Austin mack house we were going to spend the night with him.
It was just a normal, hot summer, that day. After debating what activity my family and i should do we chose something simple. Shaved Ice. Where we live there wasn’t much. There were a few stores, a small crummy park, and a small portion of so called restaurants. However there was one great thing about this community...Hobo Joe’s. Hobo Joe’s is a small shaved ice truck. It was ran by a family that had been selling shaved ice for quite some time. Their shaved ice was the best because one, it was super cheap, and two, they always added a large amount of flavoring.
