When hearing about the opportunity for Front Line Team Leader position, I was extremely excited. To put it another way, it was a door that opened out of nowhere, but one I'm happy to seek. Since joining IKEA the culture is a concept you become engrossed with following. Doing it the IKEA way, a place wear this all hands on deck, everyone wears multiple hats, ideology is very present. An ideology that I've instilled in myself through out my life. Granted my role as a Returns/Aftersales coworker limits me, particularly credential wise in how I can assist in other departments. Nevertheless, I find myself constantly looking for ways to be of assistance. By achieving a Front Line Team Lead position I would only seek to set that margin higher. My
Four years ago I would have never expected to be a golf team captain. Due to my variety of hobbies and interests, I like to consider myself a jack of all trades so it was hard to decide on what sports to play in high school. Upon asking my father if he had any recommendations, he told me that if I could learn the fundamentals of golf I would have a tool that could benefit me for a lifetime. I wrote down golf on the dotted registration line and, well, forgot about it.
It was just another school night in the seventh grade. Our recreational tackle football team had a practice at 730pm until 9. It was a very swampy night and from that I felt myself very sluggish. At the time, I was a backup running back. I was always left on the sidelines facing the chills of the cold wind during games. I typically didn’t get to see much playing time on the field, but that night I got my opportunity. I was receiving kicks during a punting audition and all I was doing was catching the ball and throwing it back, nothing unique. One throw after another, my coach began to praise my arm strength. Seeing me pass the ball was a true eye-opener. That night, I went from a backup running back, to the starting quarterback of my rec
This day was busy, but I was able to help out more by checking patients in and checking them out this time around. Felt a lot more comfortable with the system and interacting with the clients and their pets. This was my last day working in the front, I enjoyed working with Leonore and the rest of the staff in the front but, I am very excited to work in the back to get hands on experience working with the technician’s and the doctor’s.
After a challenging move from De Pere to Sturgeon Bay between my freshman and sophomore year, I can officially say that I have adapted well to my new community. In the beginning of sophomore year, one of my goals was to become as involved in my new high school as I was my old high school. I have accomplished that by becoming a part of the soccer team and joining a variety of clubs that all mean a lot to me. For example, A-Team works with other students that have learning disabilities to make social interaction a little more comfortable. In my opinion, creating a better learning environment for them not only benefits all of the students in that environment but it feels really rewarding.
My palms were sweaty as I began the process of gearing up for what was ahead of me. The many ideas of what I could possibly accomplish today were whirling around in my head. One beat up shin guard after another, I covered them with a crystal clear white sock to match the dark colored jersey. I took a deep breath lacing up my new cleats I’ve been longing to wear out. The talk from around me was not my focus at the moment, so I stood quietly and put in my ear buds.
Very excited to be back on the team. I hope you are also enjoying the spring holidays. Classes are getting knocked out easily. I do have a question, I forget what time my day started. I usually showed up when Graham arrived.
Is my judge ready? Is my opponent ready? Resolved: Most meaningful extracurricular activity: Debate, no contest. During my first years in High School, I was afraid of public speaking because I did not anyone to notice my English accent. However, when I joined my school Debate team, somehow I forgot about my accent to start focusing on a passion that I did not know I had. I love to be the voice of my school, I love to wear professional clothes, I love to win debates, but what I love the most is not to allow my fears preventing me from doing what I love to do.This year, as the Co - captain debate, I challenged my teammates to know that the only “opponent” we have is our own fears. I love to debate because as I learned to defend my arguments and
’m the first one to be born And it’s my responsibility To leave traces For others to follow I have to be cautious Or I might step into The wrong ground Letting the roots swallow me up There’s so much pressure in me
I found a group of passionate, like-minded individuals and founded an Esports club. All of us had a strong sense of competitive spirit and a thirst to prove ourselves. We had no precedent, no knowledge or mentor. We derived a structure, incorporating roles and responsibilities similar to traditional sports.
Now that I have a girlfriend her parents, and my parents know, her parents also now know that i’m a militia leader. With them knowing that they figure I can keep her safe, so I guess her parents like me.
On January 22, 2013, I was sitting in the locker room with Amber and the rest of the team, as I did every morning before volleyball practice started. It was loud in the locker room as usual. Me being a typical teenager, I had my phone in my hands at all times. I remember I was scrolling through my instagram feed and my phone started vibrating; Amy Edwardson, who is like another mom to me, was calling me. As I said before, it was pretty loud and I couldn’t hear Amy, so I told Amber to go outside with me so I could talk on the phone. Not particularly thinking anything of it, I answered my phone with a cheery “hello.”
In my career I plan on taking my talents into being a coach. Sports coaches help people participate in sports to work towards achieving their full potential. They work with them closely to improve performance. Whatever the context, coaching involves developing the participant’s physical and psychological fitness and providing the best possible practical conditions in order to maximize their performance. Coaches must also be aware of their ethical and legal obligations to their clients. Many coaches combine coaching with others, often full-time jobs, many sports coaches work part-time and unpaid, offering their coaching services on a purely voluntary
Since my freshman year, volleyball has become not only a sport but a passion. My immediate love for this sport resulted in a transition from an amateur beginner to team captain of the JV team and ultimately to team captain of the Varsity team. As captain, I lead the girls and regularly assist the coach by directing practices and drills that will perfect skills and promote outstanding performance. At a recent regional holiday invitational tournament, our team received an award for our exceptional performance. I consistently remind teammates that volleyball is a mental game as much as it is a physical game, helping each player to develop the mental stamina that is necessary for victory. Demonstrating outstanding plays on the court, I always attempt
Merely two years ago, the thought of leading a club or speaking in front of the entire school seemed so daunting and far beyond my capabilities. But as senior year started rolling in, I found myself with three major leadership roles ranging from clubs to fundraising events. As a timid sophomore, I was dragged into joining my very first club: The American Sign Language club. Nothing about that club screamed my name. First of all, it requires an excessive amount of memorization and when I have school work piled on top of that, I was almost ready to quit.
At only eleven years old I find myself in Atlanta, Georgia in Sudden Death overtime at the ASGR Summer Jam Sophomore division and it is the first time I had ever seen this format in girls’ basketball. We take first possession in overtime. After a swift drive to the bucket and foul, I am at the free throw line to win the game. I am thinking,” If I make these two free throws GAME OVER and I will be the hero of the team.” But, let us not jump the broom before getting married.
