“Oh the places you’ll go” by Dr.Seuss was my favorite book ever since i was young. Hearing the title brought my mind to countries, cities and oceans waiting to be explored .As I got older I learned that there was much more than just sites to be seen. I
Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
Personal Narrative Sociological Concepts in My Trip to Europe My trip to Europe was an eye opening experience. It awakened my senses to so many different aspects of life I had not already been introduced to. It was almost like watching a movie, from the minute I stepped of the plane
I enjoy doing cross country in the fall of the my school year and track in the spring of my school year. I love running cross country after school because it’s a time I find relaxing and nice to breathe in the fresh air after running 3 miles. It’s also enjoyable to talk and bond with my friend on our 3 mile runs together. In the spring, I love hurdling because I enjoy the feeling of jumping over one obstacle after another. My favorite nonacademic activities are playing tennis and American Sign Language. During my free time, I like to play tennis with my friends, especially during the summer and at Weymouth Club. I also enjoy watching ASL videos on YouTube in my free time and learning how to sign new songs. It’s an awesome hobby I like to do
Life after Death I remember the day just like it was yesterday, the pale color and coldness of her skin. The sky was clear blue, soft, with a touch of red, and the trees seemed stiff in their bright green shade. The wind was blowing with its humid dry air. And All I could do was stand silently in disbelief, caught up in my own thoughts and calm as I ever been. Wondering what I could have done differently to change the course of time, life had taken us upon. Since that very day a chunk of my heart was ripped away, and broken into pieces… “Oh how I miss her so much.”
To Express: Moving Away to a Distant State I just found out that my parents are making us move from Florida to Alaska. I feel so miserable. Saying goodbye to my wonderful friends will be hard and sad. I can not believe that we have to move all the way to the North, where it is cold and boring. I am scared that I will not meet any friends. I loved being in Florida, where I can play anytime I wanted to from sunrise to sunset. There will probably be no sunny beaches in Alaska. I’ll probably be stuck in a house while it is freezing and snowing outside in Alaska. I wish I did not have to move.
door opened and I stepped outside, still dragging my immensely heavy suitcase! I strolled to the reception desk and gave the receptionist the key with the number '319' accurately engraved on the gold key chain. "Have a safe trip home", he said with a warm pleasant smile on his face. "Thank you", I "Did you like it?" "No! It is the most discouraging country I've ever been to! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!" 'How nice!' I thought sarcastically! Obviously he hadn't noticed the queue was all people going to Egypt! His Excellency interrupted my thoughts when he said, "How come you speak English then?" "It's because I go to a British school." "They have schools in Egypt?! That's certainly a surprise!" I was lucky to leave that desk and to never see that guy again! By that time, I was extremely hungry. I missed breakfast that morning because I had to pack. Once, I spent four hours packing! You know us girls; packing takes us a long, long time! I went to Burger King with three friends. We walked a long way then I
MSTT was unable to work with Billy and Nikki on their goals due to being on vacation. MSTT was able to meet with Nikki and Billy before leaving to address their goals. MSTT was unable to work on those goals because Cynthia attended the session. Cynthia is Billy's grandmother.
Vacationing For People With Disabilities Sometimes we do not get the opportunities we want, for people with disabilities, those opportunities come less. I think it would be neat for disabled to get the opportunity to have a vacation like my family and I have experienced. It could be informational or factual, fun and be a great experience.
Confessions of a Ritual Tourist was by far my favorite reading this week. The idea of traveling to places for ritual events seems pretty interesting. Traveling to see ritual events seems like it will give you your own little window into the culture. Although I have not been able to do this kinda of traveling so far in my life I see myself traveling this way in the near future. Being in the army I was able to travel to South Korea, and although I was not able to see an ritual event happening, I enjoyed the culture and was able to learn a lot from the people I interacted with. In the South Korea culture it is looked down upon if you have a big house.South Korea culture unlike the United States culture it is more expectable to own a smaller house
It was the night before leaving Canada and flying over to the Philippines. the Philippines and Hong Kong are considered my “home”. I haven’t visit there for four years, I said to myself “ Tomorrow will be the biggest change in my whole life.” When I woke up in the morning inside the airplane, I saw the sun shining in my eyes as the airplane landed at the airport. When I stepped out of the plane, I saw the fresh, green and the muddy land of Philippines. The feeling of arriving to the airport is unbelievable and amazing at the same time. I saw my loving grandma and my awesome uncle. They greeted me and my family with a warm and gentle hug. My grandma cried with happiness. It took a lengthy five hour drive back to Flora where my family lives.
How do travelers construct their own identity as they travel? ‘“Who are you?” said the Caterpillar.’ (Carroll 1998: 40). Identity is explored extensively throughout Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Amos Tutuola’s The Palm-Wine Drinkard (1952). Both protagonists embark on a journey that questions their inner self; through the distortion of characters, time and plot. Transformations allow each protagonist to distort their own identity and gain self-awareness as they travel. Both texts explore the protagonist’s escape from reality through the episodic structure. Each episode is constructed as they travel, to become part of their identity, and the representation of escape as a criticism of the social context. Both authors carefully structure the narrative for both protagonists to create an identity that is intertwined into their travels.
My Memorable Vacation to Tanzania, Africa I have visited many different countries, locations around the world, but the most memorable vocation is the one which I visited to the country of Tanzania (Africa) in the city of Mwanza. Mwanza is very diversity city which has many different Tanzanian tribes and people from different countries of Africa and the world, for examples, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Malawi, Nigeria, India, USA, England, Germany and Sweden.
At present, travel writing becomes an apparent style of writing to the extent that bookstores designate shelves for travel writing as is the case with fiction, biography, religion, business, and magazines. Within this environment, we already recognize travel writing as a genre without any profound thought or consideration. However, scholars such as Tim Youngs and Peter Hulme agree on the difficulty of defining travel writing as a genre. Thence, it is derived from the complicated and mixed features of travel writing. Although the genre itself is important because it helps categorization, in this essay, I claim that travel writing cannot be defined as a genre while it is a comprehensive term for texts including fiction and nonfiction whose main theme is travel.
