We would be so tempted to go outside, but my brother would never leave until my grandmother prepare something for us to eat, and trust and believe that when the rain falls that’s when you’re hungry the most. I wasn’t a big eater up until this day so I didn’t really care about food that much I would get the food and give it to my brother anyhow. My grandmother would get so upset and tell me I’m going to starve and die, I use to laugh at her and tell her I’m not going to die. I didn’t cause I’m still here so I was right, anyhow I waited patiently so I could go outside an play in the rain with my brother and I had to be quite too if I really wanted him to come. All my other friends would be out there waiting for us but I just wouldn’t go without
Friday Night Lights is a non-fictional book written by Harry Gerard Bissinger III. Bissinger wrote the book in 1990. Chris Weeden wrote that Bissinger said, “It’s my best book, my most ambitious book, but I knew halfway through it was going to have a very limited audience” (2006). Bissinger was in search of a town controlled solely by sports. Therefore, this search led him to the Permian High School in Odessa, Texas (the setting for the novel). Friday Night Lights shows how a struggling town uses its beloved high school football team to overcome racial problems, political disagreements, and an unprosperous economy.
Tuesday, March 6th, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m., I Detective L. Donegain was contacted by Sergeant P. Orellano in-reference to a possible overdose at 415 Tradewinds Drive apartment B, Fayetteville, North Carolina 28304. I was advised Patrol Officers were on scene and standing by.
On a three-one pitch to lead off the third inning I received a fastball right down the middle of the plate. After making solid contact with my bat, the ball turned right back around heading for the left field fence and cleared it by twenty feet. This resulted in my first home run of the season and possibly the farthest ball I ever hit. Although I enjoy many other hobbies, baseball outshines them all.
Who knew that things could change so abruptly, it almost felt that my whole world was flipped within a blink of an eye. Things were going to be different from now on, the people, the weather, even the fresh summer breeze from the coast will soon become a cold bitter winter breeze. This all came to my mind when my mom announced to my family that we’re moving, to New Jersey, once my school goes on summer break. At first, I began to panic, why do we have to move? Why can’t we just live here? We don’t even know anyone there, except for my aunt. We just moved here three years ago from New Jersey, and we didn’t like it, that’s why we only lived there for a month. Then why would we would we like it now? I question my mom, and I demanded explanations
The most important game of the year was coming up and I was ready. Everything was going perfect for me, because I was the starting QB as a freshmen at Englert High School. We were playing Joston High School the number 1 team in the nation since 1960, it was going to be a tough game because they had the number 1 ranked defense, but we had the best offense. The day before the game was just a normal day I went to school and had football practice after school. A couple weeks ago one of the other teams that we had played earlier in the year wanted another game so we decided to play them. They had been the hardest team we had played all year, we had only beat them by a last efforts field goal it hardly went in as it bounced in off the crossbar.
During the second to last week of summer, I traveled with my family to Cedar Point. Cedar Point is a sprawling amusement park with a wide variety of thrill rides, roller coasters, water slides, and entertainment. The park is located near Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio. It is the second oldest amusement park in the United States, as it opened 1871. Cedar Point is considered by many to be the “Roller Coaster Capital of the World” because of its record breaking seventy-one thrill rides which includes a total of sixteen roller coasters. I had been to Cedar Point two times before but this was my first time going back in three years. I was excited for the trip because there were many new rides and coaster that I had not
Many years have gone by with much contemplation about what I wanted to do when I grew up. Due to my age, that vision has looked like many different professions. I started out with dreams of having an Army career starting at the age of 18, to have that quickly change when my new husband and I found we were expecting our first child. When our commanding officer found out, he spoke to us and explained that both of us could be sent to war at the same time. Rather than deciding which family member to give custody of our child to in that situation, I decided to depart from the Army and start my new journey as “mom”.
After I told rowdy that “I'm sick of indian guys who treat white women like bowling trophies”.Get a life.I kinda felt bad for what I said but then again i didn't because he was a trader and i felt as if he left me for white pride.maybe I was just racist and couldn't accept that my best friend was going to do great things is his life now that he had a chance.later that day i decided to email Junior back and kinda talk to him about women.”Hey asshole , i didn't mean to insult you..but dude really what do you really like about her and how did you attract her.junior replied and said.
I go to the woods to calm down ,take a break from the drama. My dad used to take me to this special spot where these rocks split and you can stem to the top of them and sit down. For some reason the view and the feel is so peaceful. There's a dip in the rock perfect size for my body. I'll kick back and look up at the sky and sometimes, it’s rare though i’ll listen to music and sometimes fall asleep and when I wake up i'm refreshed and calm. Sometimes i'll stay there after i'm calm and just chill and sometimes if a friend comes over well sometimes go over there and we'll play around on the rocks and talk and after a little bit of hanging out we will go back inside and play my PS4 for a little bit and after the gaming we are still bored we
An experience that has influenced my work and academic goals has been my family. My wife and I have one son, who departed for college this past weekend. His departure was a very emotional event for us because we did just about everything together (hockey, trips, etc). Four years ago, we brought in four siblings under foster care, which is the main topic for this essay. Four years ago, my wife and I were hoping to adopt one child and we were hoping to find a girl that needed what is commonly called a “forever home”. This process was extremely difficult as the system is not easy to navigate (I could be more blunt with this description but I won’t here). After many trials and tribulations with the foster/adoption system in Alaska, I had resigned
At a young age, I moved from the country I was born in (Dominican Republic) to Miami Florida. Moving is not an easy thing to do, I had to leave all of my friends and family behind and become familiarized with uncertain place. I was surrounded by the unknown, everything was strange and so different to what I was usually use to. At the time I could not speak any English at all but that eventually did not matter to me, I slowly started adapting to my new environment and I became more positive. Although I could not communicate well and had a few obstacles I was very organized with my studies and kept very decent grades.
“So, uh, you’re not going to believe this.” These are the words I hear upon answering my phone. My friend continues, “I just dropped off my wife at work, and well, one tire is facing straight and the other one is not.” I get dizzy and my face lights up red as I hear the description of my car. My friend continues to stammer as he tries to explain what happened, but I don’t listen to any of it. I know that I’m getting the bill no matter what happened. “Well, have it towed to a shop.” I say, most likely interrupting his continued jabbering. “Call me when it’s there and I’ll take care of it.” This was not the first, or last, time that I had to make sure an unplanned event could be taken care of out of my pocket. In most people's lives there will
Racing at night going One-hundred and forty miles an hour on US-27 holding the lead, Shift six gear, speed topped out at two-hundred miles per hour passing by cars smoothly. I chanted I am immortal, I am a god! while I pushed my sports bike to its limit. Suddenly a black car approaches. WHAM! I get Rammed from behind and lose control of my bike slamming into a Semi-truck up ahead. Lights out. When I peeked my eyes, I saw 4 humans around me. Thump after thumb I believe I was in an ambulance rushing down the turnpike. I looked around and the first words that came to my head are “Rick this is just a dream”. This is the story of how I escaped from an illegal laboratory that clones and modifies humans.
Summer is one of my favorite times of year. To most kids, summer means no school, vacation, swimming, being outdoors, and sleeping late. My family was not able to go on an actual vacation this year, but we enjoyed doing other fun activities. While most of my summer was very busy, it slowed down later on, and I enjoyed a lot of time at home with my family.
My release was under the cover of night in the empty parking lot of an abandoned business. When my blindfold was taken off, I saw June’s car already waiting for me in the lot. As the men who released me climbed back into their van, the last one on board pointed an outstretched finger and said, “Twenty miles, east,” after that I was alone in the pitch black.
