Usually as a sophomore in high school we experience one of the most exciting things, driving. The minute one turns fifteen and a half we race to the DMV, take the test, and get our temporary licence. This is where we spend the next half a year in a car with our parents, practicing and being told everything to do and not to do. Although I turned fifteen and a half over the summer, I still got my temporary licence, signed up for classes the very next day, and did my incars as soon as I possibly could. I figured out soon on that driving was not as easy as most people made it out to be. All of my friends made driving out to be fun and easy but not be. I found it difficult to stay in the lines and at the right speed every second I was driving. Even though my driving was subpar, I still passed my incars and driving school so when my birthday came, I figured I was one-hundred percent ready for my driver's test. …show more content…
I was so nervous I felt that my knees were going to give out every time I stood up, but my mom kept telling me that I was going to do well as long as I stayed calm, but my nerves were going crazy. As I heard my name called; my mind went completely blank not even remembering where to turn the turn signal on at. Fast forward to the end of my test; sitting in the car with the driving instructor and she tells me that I failed and will not be able to take it for two weeks. She tells me exactly what to work on and walks inside to talk to my
Once I was told I passed I started to tear up. I held it in though. When I walked out I looked at my mom and immediately started crying. I know, I'm such a baby, but I couldn't help it. It was so overwhelming!
Turning sixteen-years-old is a milestone to many teenagers. In the majority of states, this is the age when adolescents become eligible for attaining a driver’s license. A growing number of people feel that the only way to truly prevent tragedy is to increase the driving age. Most teenagers and parents believe in this system, although many people feel that such action is necessary. A number of states in the United States have already increased the minimum age. These states use graduated licensing programs that put limitations on young drivers. The minimum age for attaining a driver’s license should be increased to 18-years-old due to numerous factors; these include emotional intelligence, disturbances while driving, and the underdevelopment of the brain.
Every teenager dreams about turning sixteen and earning their drivers permit. I received my permit on my sixteenth birthday and earned my license six months after. Due to my responsible behavior and driving habits, my parents trusted me with a car. A couple months before my seventeenth birthday, we picked out the perfect car for me. There was one major obstacle. It was a manual transmission. I wanted a stick shift because not everyone can drive it and it was different. Only having one year driving experience, I didn’t know how to drive a stick shift. Being sixteen and receiving my first car was a marvelous feeling, not knowing how to drive it was another. This left me motivated to learn how to drive it rapid but flawless.
If you want a job or want to go anywhere, you’re going to need a driver’s license. Whether it is school, work, shopping, or just hanging out with friends, you will need a driver’s license. Or maybe even the necessary places like, the grocery, or work. Most states allow people to receive a license at the age of sixteen. The driving test teens have to take to receive their license is different in every state. Some states are harder on their drivers than other states are. Teen drivers have a history of being unsafe drivers, but precautions have been made to limit wrecks that involve them.
While some might argue that teen drivers are dangerous, beginning to drive, around the ages of 15 to 17, is one of the most important transitional phases for an individual between childhood and adulthood. Once teens are unleashed from their parents and start driving on their own, they learn to behave more responsibly, gain opportunities to participate in social or school events/clubs, and develop maturity necessary to handle things on their own when they move into the adult world. A license to drive is a necessary rite of passage for teenagers.
On testing day, I was so nervous I felt a little sick. As we arrived at the
Although the class is tiresome you still study countless hour on driving laws, road sign and, definitions because the reward of passing the paper test is being able to go to the DMV take a picture and getting your permit. Overfilled with joy you hop into the driver's seat and now that you have a permit you can finally drive with mom. Now that you have a permit you are untouchable and your dad is no longer has the right to criticise your driving. This permit created a huge ego within you which, causes little arguments between you and dad on who is correct and who is the better driver, these arguments are usually ended by dad yelling “Stop complaining or I’ll never let you drive again.” While impatiently waiting for six months until being able to take the driving test to getting your licence, so you won’t have to drive with dad and his annoying commits on how you drive, your surprise on how those six months went by so
Teens should not be permitted to drive until they are 18 years old. They should be able to drive on a temporary permit when they are 16 years old and use it until they turn 18 years old. This permit would allow them to drive only during daylight hours and with a parent/guardian. This would enable the young drivers to become more experienced. The eight hours of drivers training with your instructor is not enough. These teens need to get a feel for the road and learn to drive defensively. If you do not know how to operate a vehicle responsibly, it could be used as a deadly weapon. These young drivers are hurting themselves and other innocent people, because of their lack of experience and their irresponsibility.
On my way driving to my mother’s house on a Sunday afternoon, I was pulling up to a red light, a car was stopped in front of me, and another just to the left. As I was slowing my vehicle down, still watching the car in front of me, in order to stop at an appropriate distance away from the car. All of a sudden my father who was in the passenger side yells out my name. As I was paying attention to the car in front of me, on my right side a car came flying up in my blind spot without slowing down for the red light, eventually the car took over half of my lane, this all occurred just after my father yelled out my name. I reacted quickly to my father's cry out; however, I had already became close enough to the car that was directly in front of me, that I was unable to pull up anymore, I was incapable to proceed forward without causing a collision.
I got my first major exposure to cars when I was two years old after I received a PlayStation and a copy of the driving simulator, Gran Turismo. At the time, my only objective was to press the gas, and hope that my straight line speed would somehow win me a race. There was no balance in the way I handled the car, and this resulted in me crashing often. Despite this, the game still jump-started my passion for cars. My passion for reading developed as I browsed through countless car books and car magazines. When I got my first laptop at age seven, I would sift through websites looking for articles on proper driving technique and racing strategies. However, despite my inquisitive nature, I did not have opportunities to immerse myself in the physical world of
In responding , one can say that teenagers always complain about the ¡§grown up¡¨ world and its rules. Teens find it rather hard to be part of the grown up worl until they have the licence to go out on their own. Basically, the whole concept of graduated licencing is not so complicated. There are only a few changes: 1) There must be a fully licensed driver beside you with at least four years of driving experience in the G1 level. 2) There is a year waiting period between the G1 level and G2 level. 3) New drivers may only drive in cities, not on highways, and only during daytime hours. Even though there is a 1 month waiting period between G1 level and G2 level, it can be shortened to 8 months by taking a driver¡¦s insurance training course. During this course, the driver will learn more about techniques on driving, and it will cost less when getting car insurance later on.
The first time i drove a car it did not end well for both me and my friend. The first time i drove i went to my friends house and we had nothing to do so we got really bored so we asked her dad if we could take his car and drive around because she lived in the country and there was just back roads so we wouldn't get caught by the cops because we didn't have our licenses or our temps. So he let us take his car we we were driving around for about an hour before we found a turtle on the road. So i have this big obsession with turtles and we didn't want it to die so we stopped in the middle of the road and picked up the turtle. Well i wasn't the one driving my friend was. So we picked up the turtle and brought it in the car and i didn't want to gold it because i was
When you turn 16, the first thing you think about is driving. This is a big step in life, not having to wait around for your parents, going wherever, whenever. The first step in getting your drivers license, is going for your learners permit, and I was really excited when I went to the DMV. I felt that I was prepared well enough to pass, and to only be at the last question I failed my permit test.
Within days of turning sixteen, I made an appointment for my driving test. In the early seventies, the process of acquiring a Driver's License was not as complex as it is today. Less than two months after turning sweet sixteen, I proudly held a piece of paper allowing me to legally drive an automobile. My bank account had grown enough to purchase a quality, used car, but I lacked the finances to purchase the required expensive,
