“A restless soul and a wild heart is all you need to start an adventure.” I thought it was going to be a good day, an average weekend to me. It was my birthday, but I didn’t expect anything. My dad slammed my wooden oak door open and stood there with an unreadable expression. “Let’s go.” He commanded turning around and walking away, leaving me confused. “Where to?” I called out walking to close the door. The footsteps slowed. “I need to check something out in Hemet and I am not leaving you and your brother alone together.” I huffed and went to pick out a pair of pajamas to wear for the car ride. As I got into the car I caught my dad smiling at his wallet, which was oddly thick for a car ride. He twisted the keys in and took off down the road. It was an odd ride, we took a freeway I have never been on,and towards a city I have never heard of, Hemet. …show more content…
The air started to feel cleaner, and I could actually breathe. We drove by a thoroughbred farm and my heart raced. I could hear it, thump...thump.”Was this where my dad wanted to check out?” My foot started to shake, even my hands. At that moment I knew I was going to get a horse. My dad drove past the farm, away from all the gorgeous horses. My heart shattered. “He did that on purpose.” My brother started to
“These are my enticements, and they are sufficient to conquer all fear of danger or death, and to induce me to commence this laborious voyage with the joy a child feels when he embarks in a little boat, with his holiday mates, on an expedition of discovery up his native
The thundering sound of hooves echoes in my ears as my horse comes barreling down the hill toward me. My whistle had caused him to go crashing through the tall grass and Queen Ann’s Lace in search of me once again. Coming to a sliding stop in front of me, I gently stroke his muzzle. Letting my hands glide over his fuzzy neck and into his jet black mane, I grab ahold and throw myself onto his strong back. We go running through the pasture, scattering wild rabbits and sending sparrows a flight. I watch them fly overhead, their brown wings leading them to rest in the big oak tree that my horse and I come to a halt underneath.
It was an average day. I turned in my theme. I went about the day normally. It was all going to be fine, I thought.
When I turned 5 my mom took me on a trip to someplace strange, I didn’t really know where I was going all I knew was I’d finally get to meet my dad. So after about a week long trip I arrived in Laredo Texas, where we stayed for a week or so before we were driven to Austin. My life completely
One quiet morning I was sitting on my couch playing games when my I heard my dad jingling his key. So I decided to get up and see what or where he was going.
The keypad to the barn door was cold to the touch as i entered the code into the lock. As i entered the barn, the smell of hay and horses flooded the air. The smell reminded me of why i love this as much as i do. I walked to my horse's stall with a handful of apple flavored treats, and waited until her velvety nose and cat like whiskers filled the palm of my hand to take her treats. She blew her warm breath at me and the musical munching of the treats filled the crisp air around us. The horses in the stalls around us are creating the white sound munching on their hay, and the barn cats run silently past on the pads of their feet, hunting for their next meal. All the tack closets sit full of freshly oiled bridles and saddles, and freshly washed
I could hear footsteps, when I opened my eyes I saw my dad shaking me by the shoulder. That day we were had to get up at 4am and make our way to an entertainment park. We were already 5 minutes late. It was a morning of rushing around and a bit of frustration. After a short shower I grabbed a snack and jumped into the car. We had a 30 minute car ride ahead of us. This was not our car, we had rented one because we were on vacation in Costa Rica. I was in 7th grade then. It was the last month of the year and my dad had saved money for months for this trip it was our 3rd day into the trip with 4 days to go. My 2 brothers Ian and Gage came with us, Gage was only 5 years old, Ian was 13. Once we arrived at the Entertainment park we were right on time. The gates opened at 6am giving us just enough time to get some breakfast . Once we got there I sat down in the waiting room and waited for my dad to sign the waiver papers. After he finished signing we walked outside into a small area, there were harnesses
When me and my dad were pulling out of the driveway for the last time it signified the last time I would ever be at the house that I grew up in. The first day on the road to Dallas started with meeting a long time neighbor for coffee to say one last goodbye. After that me and my dad spent the the rest of the day driving the first half of the trip down to Springfield Missouri. For the roadtrip I was assigned the role of checking the blind spot on the passenger side since we were packed to the brim with our remaining belongings. When the second day rolled around me and my dad woke up a little later than the first morning and headed out then spent at another five hours on the road and another hour figuring out where we were actually going and finding our way around the new area.
When I was in third grade, my sister and my dad went to drive up to our lake house in Pennsylvania on my dad’s motorcycle. They left early in the morning and they
One warm summer morning my sister, dad, and I were sitting and watching T.V. and my best friend’s dad called and invited us over for the weekend. He said
The first time I was in the car when my brother, he drove my family and I to visit my grandparents to eat supper. He looked calm and ready when he first stepped into my mom's brown Toyota. When he pulled out of the garage, I could feel my heart beating faster in my chest, I knew this would happen but I hoped it wouldn't come to be anything bad. While he was in the front seat driving I sat in the back seat, but I tried to not pay attention, as I played on my phone. My dad helped him out with a few tips here and there, but otherwise, he drove really well all the way there on the long windy road, Campbell Station.
“You said you would leave in the morning,” she said in anger. “I had such a good time yesterday I want to spend a day more.” “What about your mom?” Emily asked. “I called her and told her I’ll catch the next flight to Texas,” I replied. “There’s not much to do around this town,” She said. “First, let’s go buy some new clothes.” I said.
After our trip to Australia, my family and I took it easy. We enjoyed our days off and had fun sitting by the pool soaking in the sun. On a day that seemed like any other, my dad got a phone call from a woman he went to highschool with. Apparently, she had been trying to reach him for a long time and finally found his number by calling the California Highway Patrol office where he worked. She explained that she needed to ask him a favor, but she wanted to see him in person to ask and to talk to him about it.
Pulling into the driveway I could see the big metal park in front of me, and the climbable trees on the left of us. I knew we were going to get our bikes out so I got out of the truck quickly. I had just learned how to ride my bike without training wheels, and I was so excited to finally ride it somewhere other than around the cul de sac by my house. When we got out of the car I could smell fall reminding me of my mom’s peach cobbler and hear the kids playing tag and others playing on the swings. My sister jumped out of the car and started leaping with joy.
"Happy Birthday", my mom screamed out and scared me the morning of June 9. But it was surprising and nice of her since she wished me before anyone else. It was my eighteen birthday and it was my day. While looking out the big windows in my room, I thought to myself, I will do what satisfies me today, but wasn't quite sure what? I didn’t receive any calls from my friends, or other relatives. Nobody was home either besides my mom with whom I can’t make plans because she got her own work to do. It depressed me because it seemed like this was going to be one boring eighteen birthday.
